Whether you’re team Suho or team Seojin, this volume has something for you!
Everyone has secrets, and seeing Jugyeong struggle with the separation she feels from herself at home and herself in public feels real. Especially since, everyone in this volume is trying to figure out their next step.
It’s a good balance of emotions and each scene will probably make you swoon, laugh, or cry. (If not all of the above, haha.)
True beauty is a true classic, and volume seven is no different!

I practically screamed when I saw this available—I had to request it. Manga was my world all through elementary and middle school. Every day after school I’d devour volume after volume, completely lost in those panels. This series feels like my first “adult” return to manga, and it’s been such a joy.

My sister first introduced me to True Beauty years ago, and the first time I read it was the Chinese translated version. I loved it then, and I also loved the TV drama (which we definitely need on U.S. Netflix!). Coming back to the series with this volume, I’m reminded all over again why I adore it. The art, the emotion, the characters—everything feels so alive. And I still can’t believe people can’t recognize her bare-faced self without makeup—it always makes me laugh and roll my eyes at the same time.

And yes, I’m forever a Seojun fan. Always have been, always will be. ❤️ I can’t wait to read more. This series just keeps me hooked, no matter how many times I return to it.

Yaongi does it again in volume 7 of True Beauty! Jugyeong finds it difficult in her own thoughts while she deals with the repercussions of Seojun singing on stage at her behest. The culture and reputation of being a kpop idol is strict and difficult and the reality is starting to dawn on this couple in the aftermath. I like that they focus on these very real, very relatable emotions when it comes to idol life. Add in a familiar face from the past and things are starting to ramp up pretty quick. 😅 I look forward to a memory refresh (for me) in the next novel!

These characters have come such a long way, and now they're facing a new chapter—figuring out their careers after college. It’s interesting to see how they navigate the next stage of life, with all the new struggles and decisions that come with it. I’ve really enjoyed watching their growth, and I’m excited to see what’s next for them.

As someone who has read this manwha series and watched the TV adaptation, I was expecting to love Volume 7. While the artistry is good as usual and I continue to like the overall storyline, I was disappointed by the lack of character growth. I still enjoyed the story and would recommend it to other readers.

my rating: 3.5/5

thanks to netgalley and the author and the publisher for giving me a chance to read and review this e-ARC.

my opinion (beware of spoilers):
as someone that haven't read this manhwa and watched the kdrama adaptation of it, i enjoy reading this volume a lot. i'm also surprised by the beautiful and detailed artwork by the artist. the small details in the expressions of the characters throughout this graphic novel is really cleverly shown and consistent.

the reason why i give this a 3.5 stars is because of the lack of character growth of these characters in this particular volume. when jugyeong keeps calling herself ugly and fat, i realise that she's quite unlikely to be my friend because of her negativity mindset. like? "god forbids a woman is a little insecure" I KNOW BUT she's actively hiding away her bare face from her partner, and that's not it imo.

It has been a while since I have read True Beauty but reading this was a great refresher into why I love this manga so much! The art style is gorgeous and really unique. The storyline is easy to follow and I love the triangle between Jugyeong, Soho and Seojun. My heart hurts for Jugyeong because she is so hard on herself because of beauty standards and thinks that Seojun would no longer be interested in her if he saw her true face. Which is not the case. I typically am not a fan of cliffhangers but I loved this one! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Ahhhh I love my girl and her triangle and how amazing suho is and I want her with him but also seojun is so sweet. And the way she got on a great makeup job and I love it all!

And I forever love her sister for how she's giving her confidence.

I used to read True Beauty on the Webtoon app and I really enjoyed it. I thought that Volume 7 was ok but I was really hoping for a bit more character growth by this point. As always the artwork was stunning. While I think this is a beautiful comic, I’m not sure that the story is for me.

True Beauty is a series that i have been slowly working on as I've been tandem reading with the physical releases and the Webtoon app. I am still interested in the story and charas but there are times where I get annoyed with both. I would say if you like the drama adaptation, still check out the Webtoon.

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC of this webtoon manga!

I think this was one of my favorite editions yet. One thing I loved about Seojun was that he tried so hard for Jeogyeong. He wasn't as rich as Suho, but he sacrificed even his time with her to put in more time at work, allowing him to afford buying her presents and taking her out to dinner.

I'm sorry, but the ending???????? SUHO????? I thought he was the plot twist but it twisted even more?! And who's the girl in the same group as Seojun? I think it's crazy how Suho knew Jeogyeong's face, and Seojun still didn't know,, like I'd be so offended.. especially since Suho and Jeogyeong have history.

I am only deducting a star not because of the story, but because I tried to download it and the pdf was blank. I was unable to read this manga on the NetGalley app, and was only to read this through the NetGalley Reader extension on the website. It wasn't impossible, it was just inconvenient, and I'm not sure if this was just a glitch or it was just on my end.

WOO! This is my favorite volume yet! I feel like the story has really picked up and we have more conflict coming but have also seen some character growth and more relationship development which I'm thrilled about. I was getting a little impatient with certain aspects of the plot that are pretty central but I'm definitely feeling better about them by the end of this one. The art remains fantastic and colorful -- I love when the characters blush, it's adorable. Both Jugyeong and Seojun see big changes in their lives with new work and experiences so I'm excited for that. With the return of an old friend and a bit of a cliffhanger, this one definitely has me impatiently waiting for the next volume. If you've read any of the previous volumes, you should continue with this one for sure -- it's the best one yet and will have you even more invested in the story!
