I really enjoy reading about Greek and Roman mythology. This book provided an interesting perspective on myths and characters

Daughter of the Underworld was an exciting and immersive read that kept me hooked with its blend of mythology, magic, and strong character development. I loved the way the sisters’ collaboration brought depth to the world-building, making it feel vivid and dangerous in all the right ways. The pacing was mostly engaging, though a few moments slowed down the tension for me. Overall, it was a thrilling and satisfying story that I genuinely enjoyed and would recommend to fans of dark fantasy.

OMG! where do I even begin?
This book blew me away with so many layers - starting with the Houses of Gods - Soul Severers belonging to the Underworld's divine ruler Hades. Children are caught with the sigil of the Gods on their forehead and sent into the Houses to train and with each feat clear time off their indenture. The Thebean kingdom is rules by Orpheus who is seeking a band to bring back Eurydice, his beloved queen. Hoping to earn their freedom, a rag tag group, comprising of a bard, a warrior, a thief, a thinker and a stowaway, make their way across the Underworld.

This premise was so gripping! and the tale absolutely held sway! The themes of Orpheus and Eurydice, the nature of Godhood and the rivalry and competition of the Hunger Games are brought to fore in this wily, blood thirsty tale filled with twists. The characters are nuanced and all shaded grey, led by a feisty heroine who is determined to defy fate itself! The tale reminded me of Lore, in bringing humanity to the powers divine, and extolling it.

I am eagerly awaiting the sequel and if you haven't already - do pick this one up, especially if you enjoy Greek myths, hunger games and Lore - this one is certainly for you!
Many thank yous to Netgalley and Candlewick Press for the Arc! The Book releases Sep 9th!
To the authors, Katherine and Elizabeth, please write faster - i definitely want to sail into the sequel and sever ties with suspense!

This was such a fun read! I love anything Greek mythology and this was no exception! I loved Deina and how much of a badass she was. I also thought the concept of the soul severers was so unique and unlike anything else I’ve read.

Normally books with journeys/traveling quests aren’t my thing bc they can get a bit boring for me but that definitely wasn’t the case here. Deina’s complex relationships with the other characters was more than enough entertainment.

Loved it! Devoured it in one sitting! I love Greek mythology and I love when authors take it and spin it with their own stories! Don’t skip this one!

love love love! such a well written book. I enjoyed it from the beginning all the way to the last page. no spice at all. Just gods, great plot, really good world building and plenty of adventure. the FMC was literal chefs kiss. I cant wait to see if she ends up with the good guy or potential bad boy and what kind of hell she is about to rip wide open!

This book hooked me from page one. Daughter of the Underworld is dark, magical, and full of that dangerous, twisty energy you want in a myth-inspired fantasy. The world-building? Gorgeous. Rich and atmospheric without slowing down the plot.

The main character is fierce and layered—strong but vulnerable in ways that make you root for her even harder. And the underworld setting? Obsessed. Every chapter pulls you deeper into secrets, bargains, and betrayals you never see coming.

If you’re into high-stakes fantasy with sharp characters, lush mythology, and a story that feels both epic and intimate, you need this on your shelf. Total binge-read.

This was an arc read. A big thank you to Net Galley, Candlewick/PRH publishing, and Elizabeth and Katharine Corr for the advanced copy.

This book was such a unique story that is based on Greek Mythology. The main character, Deina, has been indentured into Hades service as a “soul severer”, and she will do anything to reduced her sentence and have a chance at life before she goes insane from her work. She’s given an opportunity for freedom when King Orpheus promises to free anyone who can retrieve his wife from the Underworld. Deina accepts the challenge, and finds herself with a group of others trying to gain their freedom as well. With everyone looking for their own freedom, the challenge proves to be full of peril, betrayal, and secrets. The world building and scenes in the book are so richly described, and every scene gives plenty of atmosphere and ambiance. There’s a slow burn romance that unravels, and unexpected alliances formed between some members of the group. The entire story has you moving from peril to peril, so you are always on the edge of your seat. My only real complaint is that I had a hard time connecting to the FMC. While she was cunning and fierce, I had a hard time with some of the choices that she made and the consequences that of course came with those choices. This is a YA novel, so while some of the writing seemed cliched at points, I realized that this is because of the targeted age of the book. Overall this book is a really dark and original retelling of some Greek mythology, and I am looking forward to the next book of the series.

Love Greek mythology, and this definitely gives off that type of vibe, it's a bit eerie, but also has all of the best parts that you would find in a Greek Mythology story line which is jealousy, betrayal, and deception, and non stop actin as well as amazing characters wither their the heros or the bad guys .

I had such a great time reading Daughter of the Underworld! I love anything inspired by Greek mythology, and this one really delivered something fresh and dark. The vibe was intense in the best way — gritty, a little eerie, but still full of heart.

Deina is such a strong main character. She’s clever, determined, and I liked how she wasn’t perfect — it made her feel real. The whole underworld setting was so vivid and immersive, and the twists on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth were super creative. There were a few moments I had to pause just to appreciate how cool the world-building was.

It’s definitely a darker story, but I found myself completely pulled in. If you’re into mythology, morally grey characters, and high-stakes adventure with a little bit of edge, this is definitely one to pick up.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.

Really disappointed. I wanted to read this one so bad but there is only one option to read it and it wouldn't open in the net galley reader. I will more than likely pick this up regardless because I wanted to read it so bad and love love greek retellings.

This novel yanked me into a world where danger and ambition pulse beneath every surface. The heroine is fierce, determined, and unafraid to confront her own shadows as she ventures deeper into the underworld’s secrets. Her drive to right past wrongs unfolds into a story packed with tension and unexpected alliances. The romance is subtle yet powerful, threading through the darkness with sparks of trust and longing. The pacing kept me hooked. Just when I thought I knew what would happen, the story surprised me and refused to relent.

If you crave strong heroines, high stakes secrets, and a love that blooms in the cracks of a dangerous world, this one will keep you turning pages well into the night.

*My Star Rating is completely random as I cannot read this book*

Unfortunately this book has only been provided in one format to read - on the netgalley app which does not work for me. I cannot read on my phone, I tried the download option and it would not open. If this book has the option to send to kindle or kobo I would love to read and review it.
