**Thank you to Tyndale Publishing for this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts!**

This book was really clean, but I found it to be simply average. The characters and the plot were both fine. Less than a week later, I can barely remember the plot and the characters. The plot takes a little bit to pick up, and I think part of it was the writing style. It felt like every sentence was along the vein of "xyz happened. Character feels abc. Then, xyz happens..." Very tell and not show.

I was decently into it once the plot picked up, but I had to force myself to pick it up again after any time I stopped. If I hadn't gotten this as an ARC, I would have DNF'd it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tyndale House for providing me with an advanced reading copy (ARC) of this book. For fans of Colleen Coble and Lynette Eason, Janice Cantore takes you on a suspenseful trip filled with personal growth and the road to forgiveness.

O enjoyed this book i like lainie and Ben and the bits aboit lainie losing her faith i totally understand that having been there myself - its a good story and interesting how it all comes together and had a loveley end.
However it seemed to skip things and jump a bit at the beginning it was ok as it got explained through the book but i found it a lil confusing and some bits were a little predictble like what happened with lainies sister
also there were a few too many characters for me to keep track off so i kept having to remind myself who was who but that more a me issue nothing to do with the book itself.

Another fast paced thriller from Cantore. I enjoyed this new story from Janice Cantore, the romance was very clean, language was clean, there was some violence and dark subject matter and I felt the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more. There were quite a few secondary characters that were hard to keep track of. but overall an enjoyable read. I would consider reading more from this author.

When rookie cop Lainie pulls over a known criminal with a body in the backseat, she thinks she’s about to make her first big arrest. But he walks free, sues her, and disappears—until years later, when her sister vanishes and her brother-in-law ends up working for the very same man. Now Lainie might have a second chance to stop him… if she can find her sister in time.

I loved the Christian crime-romance angle, but I wish the faith aspect was shown more deeply—not just quick prayers here and there. Lainie’s struggle with her beliefs felt relatable, but the book didn’t dive in as much as it could’ve.

My biggest issue? I couldn’t connect with the characters. Despite all the trauma they go through--being kidnapped, losing a partner, losing a home--, there’s little emotion, personality, or depth. It felt cold and detached—possibly because of the third-person POV, which made everything feel more “told” than “felt.”

That said, I enjoyed the plot! Lainie and Ben were sharp investigators, and I liked watching them work the case. But some story elements just didn’t add up—like the villain being both sloppy and somehow untouchable. And for a supposed mastermind, Vine was honestly giving… mid.

Overall: Decent story with smart leads, but slow pacing, low emotion, and a flat villain kept this from being a standout. Needed more heart and heat.

EDGE OF TRUTH by JANICE CANTORE is an exciting thriller with great characters and a strong Christian message of redemption and forgiveness running through it. Not only the forgiveness of others but of one’s salf as well! This is a well written story which will grip you until the last page.
Lainie Jensen, a detective in Long Beach, and F.B.I. agent Ben Isaacs are working a case together, trying to put Dallas Vine away for good. He has evaded justice too many times, and when both Lainie’s sister Evie and Ben’s partner and best friend go missing, the stakes are even higher. When Evie’s husband Stan comes under suspicion, things become really interesting…..
I cannot recommend Edge of Truth highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Tyndale House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

This is a mystery where the Christian faith the main characters takes a prominent role. Lanie is a Long Beach police officer to takes time off to go to Hawaii to deal with the death of her sister. What began as a simple investigation becomes entangled with an investigation into the activities of a local mobster, and Lanie begins to work with Ben, an FBI agent assigned to the case. Cantore is a good storyteller, and Ben and Lanie are interesting characters. There is an opening for additional books about them. Thanks to NetGalley for an ard with no pressure for a positive review.

This is the first book I’ve read by Janice Cantore, and it certainly won’t be my last. This intriguing story captured my attention from the very beginning and held it until I turned the last page.
Lainie is a detective in the Violent Crime Division of the Long Beach Police Department. She is skilled at solving complex cases; however, when her sister goes missing during a trip to Hawaii with her husband, Lainie becomes baffled. The story unfolding from her brother-in-law and others, claiming Evie was attacked by a shark, doesn’t seem credible. There is no sign of a body or any other evidence that a shark was involved—just an unknown woman screaming “shark attack” from the shore.
FBI Special Agent Ben and his partner, Efren, are working on a money laundering case. Efren goes undercover at a car wash managed by Stan Moffit, who just happens to be the husband of Lainie’s missing sister, Evie.
The narrative is a wild ride from start to finish, especially as Lainie's investigation into her missing sister—who has been declared dead by her husband, amid claims on Evie’s life insurance, and Ben who is searching for his missing partner and friend, Efren, seem to merge resulting in dire consequences and a discovery that nobody could have predicted.
I read this book all the way through in one day. I simply could not put it down. The characters are relatable and strong. The clues left along the way are puzzling and intriguing.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.

I went into Edge of Truth not knowing anything about the author—just liked the description and decided to give it a shot. I ended up really enjoying it! The story was engaging, the twist completely surprised me, and I appreciated the clean writing with no strong language or unnecessary romance. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!

Detective Lainie Jensen sister has vanished on a Hawaiian vacation with her husband. Lainie rushes to investigate because something seems off to her. FBI agent Ben Isaacs has been chasing leads in a case and Lannie’s brother in law’s name raises a red flag Lainie and Ben join forces to catch a criminal. This is a Christian mystery with a very small amount of romance. I enjoyed the book and would read more if this is a series.
