This book follows a child as she experiences her world and expresses her feelings through colours. Each part of her day is connected to a different emotion and shade, making it a simple yet powerful way for children to begin understanding the link between feelings and expression.

It’s an excellent choice for young readers who are just starting to explore their emotions, learn about colours, and discover healthy ways to express what they’re feeling. The concept is engaging, accessible, and easy for children to relate to.

This book would make a wonderful resource in the classroom, where it can support lessons on emotional literacy and creativity, while also opening up conversations about how we all experience feelings differently. A beautiful and practical tool for both learning and connection.

This children's book was absolutely adorable and I loved sharing this colorful life lesson with my children. I have a child that struggles to share his feelings and tying colors to the emotions was an amazing idea and we've been implementing it into our emotions vocabulary.

What a precious book!
We follow along with a child as she relates the differing emotions she feels with colors during the day.
Sweet illustrations bring the text to life for readers young and old.

I enjoyed the illustrations more than the text. I don't know if that was due to the size of the font or just the amazing drawings and colors. Books about feelings are important for children. This one would be a nice addition to a school or classroom library.

This story shows how a child uses colors to describe her environment and the feelings she feels. This is a great way to teach kids to think outside the box on how they feel without just saying “mad” or “sad”.

Thank you NetGalley & Sook-Hee for the opportunity to read this Arc!

"You Are a Burst of Color" by Sook-Hee Choi expresses vibrancy and vitality, highlighting the uniqueness and impact one can have on the world. It is said that just as a burst of color can transform a dull canvas, an individual can bring life and energy into their surroundings. This metaphor underscores the importance of embracing individuality and the positive influence it can have on others. Sook-Hee Choi's writing style is vivid and poetic, using rich imagery to convey her themes. Her tone is uplifting and encouraging, inspiring readers to recognize and celebrate their own uniqueness. Through her expressive language, she invites readers to view themselves as vibrant contributors to the world around them.

"Feelings are as colorful as a rainbow and change all the time."

"Brilliant yellow flutters forward like a butterfly."

"...who will I meet today."

"Will green grow all around me."

"...I find a friend and am tickled pink."

"...I sink into a calming, deep, dark blue..."

"Warm brown is like a long hug."

"Clear blue arrives once a storm has passed."

"Feelings are as colorful as the rainbow..."

You are a burst of color - 4,5/5 - lecture en anglais.

"When I wake up, the morning is dazzling white.
I don't know what colors I will feel today."

As soon as I finished reading You are a burst of color, I read it again. That's how much I enjoyed that book.
I love when color is a theme of a piece of art : a story, a book, a movie, etc. Here we go for colors are emotions, moments in time, feelings and questions...

You are a burst of color looks like a child's dream, how it would portrayed in an animated movie. Imagine. Or rather pick it up and read it ! It's worth it, pinky swear.

This is totally a book I would buy for myself and to offer to kids. It's so pretty and cute. Colorful and gorgeous. Emotions can be big for children. This book could help them manage all these feelings and express what they feel. A great tool for amusing time, learning, and growing up.

I loved the work on the textures, the illustrations are cute and pretty drawn, the colors are *chef's kiss*, I just LOVE this children's book. It made me wanna discover and read more of Choi Sook-Hee work and books.

"Warm brown is like a long hug."

I read it like this was poetry. It's basically poetry for kids, with stunning vivid colorful visuals. To read alone or with a friend, a grown-up, with or without the text. It's really good to learn colors, vocabulary, emotions and more.

This was a beautiful book to read with my three year old. He completely related to feelings and colors, though we didn’t always get the alignment of the color choice with the emotion. We did enjoy the illustrations and the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Charlesbridge for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A beautiful introduction for children to colors and the feelings they can represent. It's a very sweet story with beautiful illustrations and each color being used on it's own with the background being in greyscale. I really liked reading this!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This gorgeous picture book deals with emotions at a level that young children can access.

I think this will be a great addition to my library, especially as we are adding pre-K this year. I would recommend other elementary libraries add it, as well as public libraries. I also think this would be a great addition to personal collections, to help toddlers better understand their emotions.

Thank you to Charlesbridge and Net Galley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This books has some gorgeous illustrations! The story was a little more poetic than I was expecting and I'm not sure it would really draw my little one in. Worth taking a read simply to look at the pictures, though. Beautiful!

This is a wonderful children’s book that shows them it is ok and normal to feel a variety of feelings every day and that each day’s feelings may not always be the same. The illustrations are lovely too!

Very cute! We are avid color mobster books and this was very similar vibes, in a good way!
My son is 4 and learning about big emotions has been really helpful for him.
The illustrations are also gorgeous!
A big win for my mom and her littles!

Thank you NetGalley, Sook-Hee Choi and Charlesbridge for the early copy!

You Are a Burst of Color is an exploration of feelings and emotions through color. Appropriate for young children, this book would be a great addition to a preschool or kindergarten classroom.

Thank you to Charlesbridge and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

This book is about a young child making sense of her emotions through different colors. The illustrations are beautiful, however I found the font hard to read because it was so small. The story itsself felt jumbled and did not follow a true "order" -- the girl is excited because she finds a new friend, but on the next page she's cheering forherself (why is she cheering?), then the friend doesn't want to play, and it skips to saying 'i should have asked to join' but what would she be joining? it never explains where the friend goes/what she's doing. While the book correlates feelings to colors well, the storyline itself would be confusing for my 6 and 4 year old.
