You Are a Burst of Color takes readers on a journey to explore how different colors might make a child feel. “Feelings are as colorful as the rainbow and change all the time”. Each page is filled with beautiful and detailed illustrations, and young kids are sure to open discussions regarding new emotions that they otherwise wouldn’t have stopped to discuss.

A young child makes sense of her emotions through colors. The illustrations of this book were phenomenal as they aptly represented the colors and emotions of the child. This will be a great read for young children who may have issues expressing their emotions, maybe they will find themselves better represented by the colors. The prose is not the star of the show here, but I think it works as it describes the emotions and lets the colors and images do the talking. Overall, I heavily recommend.

First of all, I am so blown away by the illustration. The art is utterly beautiful.
As for the story itself, I love the concept of using colors to teach children different emotions. I also love how accepting this book is of different emotions. There is no “bad” emotion and it’s important to be able to identify how you feel without passing judgement. I think that’s a great lesson for children.
