Years after being abducted, Mckenna Parker’s worst nightmare has come true, her kidnapper is out on parole. And he’s after her again. Now an FBI victim specialist, she and her crisis canine, Mocha, have been assigned to a case with FBI agent Evan Knox. Together they must find two local girls who disappeared. As passionate as Mckenna is about helping others, Evan is ambitious about his career. Both have sworn off love. But when Mckenna vanishes into the mountain wilderness, it’s Evan, with Mocha’s amazing help who braves danger at all costs! Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I kind of thought it was gonna be a quirky cozy mystery I guess, but I was nicely surprised that it had some bite and grit to it. It was a great thriller! It had great suspense, murder, mystery, intrigue, and a few shocking twist and turns! The storyline was very interesting. I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This one fell closer to 4.5 stars for me, I really enjoyed it! This one kept me on the edge of my seat! I enjoyed Mckenna and her strength and determination. I like the way Evan showed up for her, even if he did bug me with how far he took things in trying to protect her. The mystery kept me intrigued, and I didn’t see the twists coming. It was exactly the vibe I wanted when I was in the mood for suspense!
[ARC review]

This was a good story! I enjoyed the plot, found the characters lovable and interesting, and I would definitely recommend this to others!

I normally love romantic suspense novels but this one just wasn’t it. The overall plot had potential, but I couldn’t stand the MMC (constant dishonesty is a big turn off), the “relationship” was rushed and unnatural (they’ve barely spoken and then suddenly decide they love each other?), and much of dialogue between characters seemed off. Others might enjoy it for the mystery/suspense, but it definitely wasn’t for me.
Thank you to Harlequin - Romance for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley.

This was a fantastic book. Well written, amazing characters, twists and turns. Kept me intrigued the whole time. This was a new author to me. I'll definitely be reading more of her books

I received an ARC for my honest review.
It has been awhile since I've read a Harlequin Romantic Suspense novel, but this had it all.
As a teenager, Mckenna Parker was kidnapped, but was able to escape. Fast track 8 years later, Mckenna now works for the FBI with her K9 partner Mocha helping other victims and her kidnapper has been released from prison for good behavior. When two teen college students go missing, they are called to help the victims. This case has so many similarities to her own that Mckenna believes that it is her kidnapper starting again.
Enter FBI agent, Evan Knox. While fighting feelings for each other, they work at tracking down the kidnapper.
This book had the romance, suspense and climatic conclusion that you are looking for.

McKenna Parker became an FBI Victim Support Specialist along with here K-9 partner, Mocha after McKenna decided not to be a frightened victim any longer. She was drugged and kidnapped from a party when she was 18. She never saw her kidnapper's face, but somehow managed to escape. The local law enforcement captured the man they believed had done it. He had just been released from prison a couple of weeks when two more girls disappeared from the same area. Agent Evan Knox is assigned the case. When one of the girls is found alive, McKenna and Mocha are assigned to assist the victim and her family. When McKenna hears her story, it is almost exactly like her own. Even though both she and Evan have sworn off relationships, love conspires to throw them together until neither can deny the attraction. Evan swears to protect her regardless of how it affects his career and she finally has found someone she trusts. When the true kidnapper, who has once again captured McKenna, Evan dusts off his old k-9 handling experience and Mocha, a failed FBI search dog combine their love for her to track her down and nab the perpetrator.
The final scenes to this event are pretty heart-pounding and I felt my blood pressure rising. I am not normally a romance reader, but this one caught my eye because it is set in my beautiful home state of Colorado and I love what law enforcement has been able to do with canine support. The romance it this story worked for me because there was so much tension to start, yet real reasons for them both to change.
Thanks to both NetGalley and Harlequin-Romance for the opportunity to read this. I'll be looking for more by the author!

A wonderful setting for a book. Years after surviving her own abduction, McKenna has become a victim advocate. Along with her K-9, Mocha, she visits victim and helps them navigate the unknow. Agent Evan Knox is well know for his quiet, standoffish deminer. Their lives are thrust together when two more girls are abducted in the same way that McKenna was years before. It looks like it was the same person, but McKenna, who had doubts before, is not so sure. As their worlds are thrust together, McKenna and Evan start to realize each is not who they thought the other was, but they will have to solve the mystery if McKenna is ever going to be safe. A great mystery with a sweet growing romance.

Years ago McKenna Parker was kidnapped from a party. McKenna broke a window out and escaped. The man was captured, tried, and sentenced to eight years. Now McKenna is a FBI victim specialist and her dog Mocha is crisis dog. Her abductors parole hearing is coming up but she doesn’t go and he is released early. McKenna is partnered up with FBI agent Evan Knox, when two girls disappear. Evan is known for his grumpy attitude and rather work by himself. The more they work together, the sparks fly and it’s not long until they are sleeping together. When McKenna disappears, Evan uses Mocha to help find her.
Steamy. Action. Suspense. Evan is more concerned about moving up in the FBI but McKenna changes that for him. McKenna doesn’t trust easily and is keeping a couple of secrets.
* VOLUNTARILY READ AND REVIEWED FOR NETGALLEY *

I have to say, if there is a dog on the cover I'm a sure bet to read it.
This is a mix of extreme stress and humor, and the sweetest little love story. And of course our K9 partner makes me laugh throughout this story. Good characters and a great storyline.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review .

This book had some twists and turns I definitely didn’t see coming! The heroine, once kidnapped as a teen, now works with the FBI and her K9 partner to help others. When she’s called to assist on a new case, she realizes it mirrors her own abduction—and with her kidnapper recently released, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
The story was well-written and full of heart-pounding moments. My only complaint is the romance element—it felt out of place during such a stressful situation. Still, it’s a solid, suspenseful read for fans of crime thrillers with a canine angle.

This is a great book with well developed characters and intriguing FBI story line! I love the K-9 stories by Kathleen Donnelly and find myself devouring every one of her books! I hope she continues the story of Mocha in future books!

Fantastic book!!!! The story is compelling and has plenty of action and romance. I loved the characters and loved how they came to life on the page. They had depth and heart, and the author made me feel invested in their story.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book- it's fast paced romantic suspense at its best. The author is on my must read authors' list.
