This was about a 3.5 star audiobook for me. Unfortunately, I figured out the plot, so it was a bit disappointing in that area for me. I did enjoy the narrator and the speed of the story ... I just wish there was a better twist!

The Wife's Silence by Amanda McKinney and Narrated by Elise Roth was a addictive psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist, WoW. . . . I did not see that coming! I figured out the characters and liked them, they all played a great part to this audiobook
This was an excellent audiobook and it was so addictive I listened to it all day until it ended. I Loved this audio book and the narrator Elise Roth was excellent.

Big thank you to NetGalley and especially to Storm Publishing/Dreamscape Select for my ARC's.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.0/5)

This was a fast-paced domestic thriller with plenty of dark secrets, shifting perspectives, and a moody, unsettling atmosphere. The story starts as a dual POV across two timelines and slowly expands, layering in mystery and tension as past and present begin to converge.

I flew through the short chapters and really enjoyed how the tension built up, especially with one major twist that totally caught me off guard. The pacing was solid, and the concept had all the ingredients for a gripping read.

That said, it felt very familiar—like something I’ve read before (though I can’t remember exactly what). Because of that, the plot didn’t feel especially fresh or original. Some of the twists didn’t feel fully earned, and the characters often leaned heavily into tropes without much depth or development. Toward the end, the story started to lose momentum and stretched beyond its natural conclusion, which dulled the impact for me.

Still, if you enjoy thrillers with an eerie vibe, unreliable characters, and secrets slowly unraveling over time, this is one you could easily devour in a weekend.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select | Storm Publishing for an Advanced Listener's Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fast paced mystery/thriller told through multiple POVs of several different characters.

I enjoyed the story and the short chapters. It was a super quick read that kept me entertained. There are several things in this story that aren’t realistic or plausible.

I really enjoyed the narration from Elise Roth.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook.

Unfortunately this audio book stopped playing in the Netgalley app on May 28th, two days before the audiobook was archived, and then disappeared from the app all together on May 30th.
So I was unable to finish the book.
It was an interesting start, and the book summary appeared to have additional / more unique elements that the typical husband, wife + new woman trope.
I really liked the narrator.
One question that I had immediately - and maybe it would have been answered if I'd had the opportunity to get further into the book - but how does one become a "famous knife maker" .... ????

Fast-paced, twisty, and just dark enough to keep me on edge—this one gave me serious Verity vibes, but with more players in the game. I guessed a few twists throughout, but there were definitely others that shocked me and hit like a freight train. Amelia and Consuelo stole the show for me—layered, complex, and unforgettable. If you like your thrillers quick to devour but rich in mystery, this one’s a solid pick.

I enjoyed this book and the narration of the audiobook! I listened to the whole thing in one sitting. I thought I knew what was happening as it started, but boy was I wrong. This book was twisty, unpredictable, and full of secrets & lies! One of the big twists confused me a little bit in the logistics, but it fit with the story, so it didn’t take away from my rating!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy!

Took a chance on this one and was not disappointed! I had no idea where we were going at first but I was gripped from the beginning. There was so much action in this story and the author set a great pacing. She is also amazing at holding the audience’s attention without giving away everything. She made truly despicable characters and you really feel the detest of them without being told they’re bad. There were a few very obviously predictable twists but overall, I was staying up late to finish this one!

The Wife’s Silence seems targeted for fans of mysteries in the “Jane Eyre/Rebecca” plot genre. The story takes place almost entirely within the large home of an extremely wealthy man, whose ill wife lives sequestered and unable to communicate in an upstairs room. The husband, the newly arrived caregiver, a former wife, the housekeeper and the patient herself are among those featured as alternating chapter speakers. Through these storytellers, one can slowly construct some of the history that led to this peculiar situation, but much is still left for the reader to puzzle out, including the apparent disappearance of a child long ago. Narrators contradict each other, none seem very reliable, and secrets slowly come out. The book is a well-written easy read, and the audible version by Elise Roth is very pleasant to listen to. Those seeking mysteries with a narrow family focus and without complicated plots or abundant characters should find this an enjoyable experience that is hard to put down.

There were some pretty big plot twists in this, the pacing felt good and I like the way it was written. This isn't the kind of book I'll be praising and yelling about from rooftops but it was fun and entertaining and did exactly what it came to do. I'd recommend giving this a whirl.

Told through two perspectives and timelines, this psychological thriller alternates between Lucy-who arrives for what she believes is a live-in nanny position, only to find she’s actually caring for Emelia, a young woman recovering from a stroke-and Emelia herself, whose flashback chapters delve into the complexities of her fraught marriage to her husband, Thomas.

From the first page, I was hooked. What started as a plan to read just a few chapters quickly turned into a cover-to-cover binge. The prologue alone was so compelling that I couldn’t put the book down.

This is a fast-paced, twist-filled story that keeps you guessing. There's a constant sense of unease simmering beneath the surface, creating an atmosphere that's both suspenseful and addictive. I appreciated the dual POVs, which provided layered insight into the characters-including the antagonist. I always enjoy when a narrative offers a glimpse into the mind of the “villain.”

The book delivers plenty of tension, emotional complexity, and shifting power dynamics. From the very beginning, there’s an unsettling tone-strange vibes and subtle warning signs that build into something much darker. It’s a thriller with heartache and mystery at its core, and while some twists are more surprising than others, the journey remains thoroughly entertaining.

Admittedly, you do have to suspend disbelief at times, and one major twist is a bit telegraphed. The resolution also wraps up more neatly than expected, missing a chance to deliver a truly jaw-dropping finale. Still, these are small quibbles in what is otherwise a gripping and immersive read.

Overall, this is a smart, engaging psychological thriller-perfect for fans of dark domestic suspense. Ideal for a weekend binge or lounging by the pool with a page-turner you won’t want to put down.

📖 Bookish Thoughts
I was really into this book at first. The premise hooked me right away, and the audiobook narrator was incredible.
But just past the halfway mark, the twist hit and I hated it. It didn’t make sense for the story that had been building and honestly felt a bit ridiculous. It shifted the entire book in a way that didn’t land for me, and from that point on, I just wasn’t invested. The ending didn’t do much to recover it either.

📖 Final Score: 2 stars
🎧 Audio Score: 4 stars

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced listening copy. All thoughts are my own.

3.5 for me!!
This one was an interesting one! I didn't expect a few of the twists which is always fun as I'm a thriller reader usually so sometimes they're predictable. At first I was wondering if it was going to be like Colleen Hoover's Verity but it wasn't -- it did remind me a bit of The Only One Left by Riley Sager but definitely still it's own. I enjoyed the multiple POVs and the little wrap up at the end during the art exhibit.

Wow! This book had me tight in its grip! I spent my whole reading experience on the edge of my seat and I could not get enough of this story. I loved the mystery in this book with the multiple perspectives and different timelines and how layered the story was. This book was so gripping and intriguing! I was so engrossed in this book and am dying to have another thriller that is as gripping.

A fast-paced mystery that keeps you wondering what will come next!

This was a fun mystery that caught me right from the start. A nanny arrives for a job - but it's not a typical job. She's being hired to take care of a wife - one that has been unwell for years. She doesn't communicate, can't speak, so her day will be filled with reading to her and taking care of her. It's a fulltime job, staying both in the house and having all meals there.

It doesn't take long for the cracks in this house to show. I really liked Lucy. There are multiple POV and a back and forth timeline that really pushed the plot and kept the reader wondering what next. SO many twists, I just sat back and enjoyed this one. I did an audio version, and the narrator did a great job of keeping me sucked into the story. Loved this one! 3.5 stars I'm rounding up

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

This was my first book by Amanda McKinney. This book was able to hold my attention from the beginning. The story follows Emilia Caine, who is married to a wealthy entrepreneur. Emilia has not spoken for years, but her husband hires a sitter to care for her. A central focus of the book is the disappearance of Emilia's son. As the story unfolds, there are many twists. Told from varying perspectives and timelines, the layers are peeled back to reveal surprising truths and how far people will go.
