THE MAN WITH A THOUSAND FACES BY LEX NOTEBOOM

This book I thought had a great premise and as I read along discovered it had a great storyline. .

Also enjoyed following along to figure out the mystery of who was the man with a thousand faces. Another character that was quite interesting was the mercenary with no name.

It was also as a woman reader exciting to read the female leader of the Jabar, Nairi.

So that was what I enjoyed about the novel. The author had a strong and compelling idea for storyline and unique characters.

However here is what was quite disappointing about this read…
I don't know if this the fault of the translation from Dutch to English or the fact that the editor did a poor job of having the writer clean up his errors but I found it difficult to read. The writing was choppy, the dialogue was choppy as well as the layout and jumping between scenes/action. Oft times the sentences were too simplistic and seemed that a bright child in junior high might have written them.

Because I had such disappointment following through this novel I am not planning on posting a review on my usual platforms as cannot ask my fellow readers to read or purchase this book.

Noteboom as I mentioned before had a great idea for a political intrigue novel as well as some very compelling characters. So perhaps with either translation or editing assistance this could be crafted into a much more readable book.

My appreciation to Lex Noteboom, his publisher Union Square and Company and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of The Man With a Thousand Faces.
