A strong follow up and a great installment in this series. initially I was a bit confused when we were POV hopping, but after a while it really settles in. The narrators did a great job with its cast of characters. Can't wait for the next book.

The story picks up right where the first book left off; right in the action! This story is so unique and quite the emotional rollercoaster. While we still have our two main characters, this book adds several additional POVs. I especially enjoyed getting to know Lidiane and Azur. Their relationship was so fun to watch unfold. Also, all of the characters and what role they have to play really came together at the end.

One criticism is that the immediate introduction to several new POVs made it difficult to really get into the story. It took me a third or maybe even about half of the book before I was sucked in. I also wish I had read this instead of listening to the audiobook. While the narrators were fantastic and the book sounded amazing, having only two narrators made it difficult to keep up with all the new characters. There was a lot of dialogue in this book and in some scenes, I struggled to keep up with who was talking. I think I would have followed along better if I had read this one instead of listening.

enemies-to-lovers
forced marriage
Unique magic
found family
soul mates
banter

If you are a fan of these things, this series is for you. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

I had to go back and read book one because I wasn’t aware this was a sequel but Man this is one of the best sequels I have ever read. I always feel like sequels are meant to grow our understanding of the world and characters and I feel like this book did it well. This time we had so many added POVs and I honestly really loved it.i didn’t have a hard time knowing whose POV I was in when switching. I think the narrators did amazing and really brought the story to life! This series really pulled me in from the begging and had me finding ways to sneak listening/reading into my daily life anytime I could. The author is an amazing writer and I will look forward to future works from them. Such a rollercoaster and so much action and intrigue I highly recommend

I’m so torn with this one ngl… we were out here just straight up juggling what feels like an over a handful of POVs. Don’t get me wrong, I usually love a multi-POV story, especially in romantasy or a fantasy, but this one at least for me was lowkey overwhelming if I’m being honest. I liked the story but I listen when I’m doing chores and have an almost 3 year old so I kept losing track of who was talking and what was going on. I even had to restart a few chapters to try and piece things together, which made it feel more like work than enjoyment. Some moments hit, others missed. Not sure if I’m going to continue onto book 3…

I've read A Traitor Sister earlier this year and loved it. The audiobook is very good at bringing their personalities to life. Great romantasy and adventure with magnificent plot twists!

In this thrilling, romantic sequel, Astra now freed from her master’s chains must master her growing dark magic to rescue her fae prince, Marlak, who’s trapped in a sinister prison. At the same time, a massive Crystal Castle hurtles toward devastation, threatening to open a chasm that could destroy their entire kingdom. As Astra unlocks world-altering secrets, she’s entangled in magical politics and personal betrayals, none more cunning than the false king of the Crystal Court, who aims to seduce her heritage for his own gain.

I didn’t love the number of POVs. At times, I was unsure if the POV changed then had to remember what was happening with that one. It felt disorienting. In my opinion, the story didn’t need the addition of all these POVs.

I loved the first book. This one was fast paced and the ending felt a bit abrupt, but I’ll just be over here waiting for book 3.

I’ll start this off with the good. The narrators did a really fantastic job with all of the different characters different voices. Unfortunately that’s about the only good thing in this book. Not only was this more confusing than the first book, but all of the jumping around to different characters and different perspectives was insane sometimes in one chapter there would be like three or four different point of views, and that was just way too many for me. I literally had to restart this book and then keep restarting different chapters to understand this. I don’t think I will be continuing the series at all. This felt insanely hectic and super slow at the same time. Thank you to NetGalley for my arc this is my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Audio for my audio Arc and Sparkly wave for my Arc!

This is the 2nd book in this series and I did thoroughly enjoy the thrill of this wild ride!!

Book 2 started with a bang drops you off right where you left off and so much happens at once with many chapters and we got way more POVS this time around. Which I usually enjoy but because it was so much chaos in the beginning it did take a while for me to get into all the new POVS.

After I did get into all the new POVS I was completely hooked and really enjoyed all the new aspects and how we went all over the world. Everyone who we thought we knew we knew nothing about till we got their POVS. My favorite thing in a book is a complex character where I can hate then love and love then hate a character and this book had great character arcs.

I recommend this to all romantasy girlies. My review seems vague but I can't give nothing away so go read book 1 then come back to this book next the series will not disappoint!!

Multi-POV, dual audio narrators. Wasn’t my favorite narration to be honest, and there were a lot more POVs in this book. Overall, this was okay. I wasn’t really invested in what was going on, but I had a good enough time listening.

It uses some of the oddest euphemisms I’ve ever heard. The spicy scenes were kind of painful to read. A bit clunky and with some interesting word choices. I honestly had to skim those scenes.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my advanced audio copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for the listen!!

Full disclosure: I started this book not having read the first in the series yet, I found myself fully engulfed and a new fan!

I love the detailed world building and characterization of the main speakers! Each character had their own plans, motivations, alliances, and conflicts and Leitao did an amazing job of making them all so interesting. I am fascinated with this novel and will be going back to read the 1st and this one again!

The second book picks up right where the first one ended and whew!! This installment had me on the edge of the seat with what will happen to both Astra and Marlak next. I loved how this one delved more into the secondary characters and we followed them as well. They are a great group of friends that Astra and Marlak can depend on. I enjoyed seeing Lidiane, Tarlia, Renel, and Azur characters shine, and that ending! I didn’t see that at all. The narrators, E.M. Wylde, and Caitlin Kelly's performance was addicting and kept me engaged till the end. I have zero complaints! I’m patiently waiting till October to see what happens next in this world.

A special thanks to Dreamscape Select, Sparkly Wave, + Netgalley for the gifted ALC.

This is probably one of the few times that the second book is just as good....if not better. Than the first.

We get so many more POV's and while some is predictable it was a nice change of pace at the end for most books.

But anyways I need the next one now please!!!!

Book two was a wild ride that picks up right where book one left off. Astra was free, but now she and her husband find themselves prisoners, or in her case, a "guest" of his supposedly evil brother, who is acting as the king of the Crystal Court. Full of multiple points of view, this book has it all: enemies-to-lovers, action, romance, sacrifice, and betrayal. I found myself second-guessing everything I thought I knew and believed from the first book. Who can I trust? Are Astra and her husband, the true king of the Crystal Court, really on the right side of the battle? Can her husband even be trusted, or has he lied to her this whole time? Is the Prince, and acting King, the bad guy?!? I kept asking myself, 'What is happening right now?!?' Who do I believe?!?

Since the first book A Cursed Son stole my heart with Astra's snarky banter and relatable inner monologue, I guess I can only describe my relationship with book two as madly and passionately in love.

Thank you Day Leitao, Netgalley, and Dreamscape Select for the ALC!

This book was filled to the brim with steamy spice, fiery romance and even some just-for-fun romps all while the story continues to surprise me with twists and turns, all while wondering "who is actually the villain(s) of this trilogy?" I loved every minute of it. We got to know beloved and hated side characters way more in-depth alongside learning more about the politics and ploys of the courts and major players. This series is full of heroines claiming their power to save themselves and those they love. Again, I LOVE IT. Astra is such a great FMC and I smile at how other characters talk about her. If you are looking for a great new romantasy series that is full of interesting characters, steamy romance and spice with a good serving of action, Remnants of the Fallen Kingdom will deliver! I am so excited for the final book A Devious Brother coming October 2025!

Caitlin Kelly returns and is joined by E.M. Wylde to bring us an amazing dual narration this time! I loved Caitlin in book one, and she continues to do a great job of using different enough voices for different characters within her chapters, while E.M. makes it feel like he has been with us just as long while just adding more character and depth to the male PoV chapters and overall enjoyment of the audiobook. E.M.'s voice is definitely not hard on the ears, especially in the spicy scenes. Flow and immersion are on point and I really hope they will both be back for book three!

I was so excited to continue this series but this fell a little flat for me. I liked it a lot but it was very drug out for nothing to really happen. I listened to the audiobook and it was confusing at times to figure out who was who and what was going on. I think this is one I might of enjoyed more if I physically read it. The female narrator was amazing. I will continue to read the rest of the series as it is released. I love the characters and can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

Thank you to Day Leito and Dreamscape select for the ALC of this book.

This audiobook just had two many points of view for me to keep up with. I would definitely be interested in doing a reread, but to listen to this, it was just confusing. The narrators were not bad, but the voices for all the characters just sounded the same to me. I wanted to love this story as much as I loved the first, but the audio just didn't do it for me this time.

This book includes some of my favorite elements—forced proximity, witty banter, and elemental magic—but they didn’t always land as expected. While the narrators did a solid job, having only two voice actors for so many POVs made it difficult at times to differentiate between characters.

The story is definitely character-driven rather than plot-focused. It took quite a while for key quests to move forward, which, combined with a large cast, made it hard to feel emotionally invested in everyone. That said, I’m hopeful that Book 3 will
bring everything together and deliver a satisfying conclusion. It wasn’t my favorite in the series, but it wasn’t bad either.

Rating: 5/5
I received the audio for my honest opinion.

This book was amazing and when I saw that there would be an audio for it, I jumped over to NetGalley so I could have a chance to read it. OMG, it was amazing. I thought the narrators did a fantastic job with bringing the characters and the plot to life. I am so happy that we got a dual POV with different narrators because it really helped me to connect to the characters more and their emotions with their help more.

You know when you love the first book so much, then you pick up the second book and you’re like…… OMG, I LOVED THIS BOOK MORE. Well, that is what happened to me, I loved that we got to see a few more answers to the questions in book one, but you will be left with new questions but in a great way. I loved the enemies to lovers that were extended in this book with new love interests from side characters. You will find forced proximity, great banter, elemental magic and a fun magical system as well. I loved the hidden identities and the plot twist and after plot twist, it made it fun trying to piece it all together. I found book two has a different feeling to it and I think it’s because it’s book two but at the same time feels like a whole new book (if that makes any sense).

You will see that there are new characters added in and other side characters that are brought forth more in this book. I liked that each character had their own side plot going on with the main plot of the book and this author knows how to show you all that without it taking away from the story. I found the characters to be even more likable and relatable in this book, and I loved that we got to see friendships blossom and other ones become stronger. I found out that I really didn’t hate a character that I did in book one, and it was really great getting to see all the characters' different POVs because I think that helped me to see that one of the “bad guys” isn’t really a bad guy at all. I loved getting to see more of the characters' development in this book and to see that they’re all family, even though they might not be by blood or marriage, but they all have a stake in wanting better for their people. Seeing all the adventures with the characters to the new lands and discovering what new curses are brought forth and who is responsible for all the destruction in the kingdom.

I need book three soon because I have to get all the answers to what really happened and how the characters will handle what is next for them.

I want to thank the author for the opportunity to review this book.

on the audio: the two narrators, E.M. Wylde and Caitlin Kelly, did amazing performances for the material they have. i was so pumped when i saw both narrators for this sequel following the jaw dropping ending to A Cursed Son but was disappointed by the huge leap in perspectives we got! for the amount of perspectives we get, i don't know if just two narrators was the right choice. i figured two narrators for two characters, Astar and Marlak, the narrators can't differentiate well enough for Astra, Tarlia, Lidiane, Marlak, Renel, Azur, Ziven, and every side character ever....it's too much (keep in mind that the first book was just Astar's perspective...) again, the narrators did good with what they could but this would've benefited with even just two more narrators. i found myself often lost with who was who, who was with who, what who was even doing!
on the book: despite the too many perspectives introduced out of nowhere, this is still a pleasant read (recommend tandem reading this one). we get to see the wider expanse of Marlak and Astra on the journey into the wider world with friends galore! there is charm to these characters and i was pleased to see more friendships (but tbh mostly relationships because everyone has to couple up lol). because we're cramming sooo many characters this book is pretty long for quests that don't move quickly so you really gotta enjoy the character interactions. this is an easy story to pay attention to one moment then drift your thoughts away but come back and you've missed nothing. this review feels negative but it was an enjoyable read i just think there should've been less povs for the second book to ease us into this change and have book three with more povs you know.
my least favorite part of this book is probably the spice, which is very personal preference, but they're not as common in this sequel so i wasn't as bothered by them but the writing style of the smut scenes aren't my favorite. (2/5 spicy peppers)

The plot twists were insane in this sequel. I am blown away by this series so far and need more asap. The narrators did a fantastic job - I always felt as of I was right in the scenes and was holding my breath with suspense at times. I love the side characters that feel so much like main characters. My favorites are Azur and Tarlia.
