This was an enjoyable thriller with a great message. My takeaway was live your life without regrets. Regrets get in the way of the important things like family and loved ones. Joe, who is a Police Super Recognizer and Becca, a detective goes after a serial killer. The serial killer has a list of people who must pay for things that they did. This was a fast-paced crime thriller with great twists to its plot. I absolutely love John Marrs' work and this one was no exception, especially with the family aspects.

I usually really like John Marrs books, however, this one was not my favorite.

This story starts with a bang. Multiple murders that seem somehow connected, but no one can figure out how. The murders get more gruesome and more personal as the story goes on, and we even get POV chapters from the killer. But, it just didn't come together for me. There were certain aspects that were uncomfortable about the book (where the killer is supposedly Trans, but then isn't. This shouldn't be a thing, it's 2025, let's respect the Trans community) and there are some inconsistencies that just didn't work out. Certain deaths in the book didn't make sense either, but maybe I was just over it at that point.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audiobook ARC!

I love John Marrs, and I know that if I’m in the mood for a slow burn psych thriller full of suspense, I’m gonna pick up one of his books Her Last Move is actually a rerelease with a brand new epilogue since the original, and oh my goodness…it was just *chef’s kiss*. Thank you, NetGalley and to Brilliance Publishing for granting for granting my ARC Wish with this audio version of Her Last Move by John Marrs!

I listened to Her Last Move on audiobook, and it was so good! The story pulled me in from the very beginning and kept me hooked until the very last twist. Becca and Joe’s dynamic kept the pace moving, and I loved that this wasn’t your average police procedural. The killer is always a step ahead, and the suspense just builds and builds. A dark thriller with layered characters and a plot that doesn’t let up!
