This is a series I've really been neglecting and I'm so glad I picked up this third book in the series! I really like Pru in this book (and in general). She's a bit older than the typical bride and not the most fashion conscious so the whole wedding planning process is completely overwhelming and not very much fun yet she does want to have a celebration with those closest to her. The dress fitting scenes especially were quite funny. I liked all the garden history talk and loved the Edinburg setting. The mystery was good though the reasons for some of the tension was a bit convoluted and I did feel like I guessed the who and the why fairly early. I enjoyed the time with the characters enough that this didn't bother me but didn't make for a shocking reveal. This is a lovely series with an interesting main character and gorgeous garden settings. I'm looking forward to the next book where it looks like Pru is getting her hands back in the dirt.

Depite being the 3rd book in the series, Pru is still a delightful and charasmatic character. She does have a knack for getting caught in the middle of a mystery as well as make others around her happy.

You do not need to read the 1st two books to still enjoy this story.

The only thing that was disappointing in the story was the few haphazard interjection of bringing Texas, USA into the story. It seemed like an afterthought to the story because there was a gap.

Otherwise I did thoroughly enjoy the story and look forward to Pru's further adventures.

Another great book and so fun to visit Pru and Christopher again, in another installment of the Potting Shed Mystery series. Pru goes to Scotland to do research and Christopher heads back to work in London. Good cozy mystery by a wonderful author. Highly recommend this book and series.

This is a very typical version of the american 'cozy mystery', so you have to expect unlikely things and odd behaviour. However, I did enjoy reading it, as a light hearted book and distraction from everyday events.

Pru Parke is off to Scotland for a short-term job at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh In the third book in the very enjoyable Potting Shed Mystery series. She’s also busy planning her wedding to Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Pearse when a vengeful murderer threatens to strike again. Of course Pru can’t help but get involved.

It’s good to be back in action with Pru – she’s intelligent, brave, mature, likable with a great sense of humor, and works hard and competently at a job she loves. Her relationship with Christopher is passionate and intense and a joy to read about, and I was so happy to see them getting married. All of the gardening facts and details are fascinating.

If you appreciate British-style mysteries, unexpected plot twists, and engaging characters the Potting Shed Mystery series is for you.

I can't say enough good things about Author Marty Wingate's Potting Shed Mysteries, especially Book Three, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, her best one yet! I have to take care, though, not to say too much, and reveal spoilers.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place is a really fun read with a really good murder mystery. Plus there's a catnap, a great ending, and a wedding! Who doesn't love a wedding? Take my word for it, y'all, Between a Rock and a Hard Place is a winner.

Especially if you're a gardener, you'll love this book (and the series) with the unique story lines, wonderful characters, and marvelous settings! I highly recommend Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and bestow upon it my highest rating of Five Stars!

Note: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

It was so fun to visit Pru and Christopher again, in another installment of the Potting Shed Mystery series. Christopher has proposed and Pru has been offered a short-term job in Scotland authenticating the journal of a famed botanist. Pru sees it as a fantastic opportunity while she is planning the wedding.

As nothing ever quite goes as planned for her though, Pru finds herself working with a disgruntled colleague, questions as to why she even has the job and ultimately, the mystery of a dead body. Always curious, Pru can't help but get involved in the investigation.

Pru Parke is just one of my favorite heroines. Partly because she's mature in age, partly because she's just a lot of fun. The secondary characters bring a humor and depth to the story that goes beyond entertaining. It's just good storytelling.

Third in the Potting Shed Mystery series, the book stands alone just fine, although I always recommend reading a series in its entirety for depth and character development.
