Quick notes

Predators are always lurking and hiding beneath a kind veneer.

Ask the tough questions. Trauma rarely just goes away on its own.

This was good. The suspense had me turning the pages faster than the audio. The twists I figured them out at about 80%. There was so much going on with the characters to confuse you. If you're focusing on the cheater and wrapped in that you're not paying attention to everything. Am I making sense? Probably not. I hate I waited so long to read/listen to this. I highly recommend. I'm 2 for 2 with Kubica.

Review on Amazon and Goodreads

Pretty Baby was an engaging read. I must admit that it was wrapped up in a nice, engaging package that captured me from page one and unwrapped slowly. At the end, the question was who was more "insane" and what was eventually uncovered was not what the original wrapping showed.

The problem was and continues to be with Ms. Kubica's writing, for me, is that the package is tied up with a nice red bow. Meaning, it all has a pretty happy ending. I have yet to read a novel of hers that ends with a pretty unhappy, unfair predicament even though this one had the PERFECT opportunity to do so and I really think that Ms. Kubica could be an author to pull it off. Not a whole lot of authors could. I am not sure if that is Ms. Kubica's doing or her publisher's decision.
