i received a eARC in return for a honest opinion.

1. way too long. i felt like it took me forever to read. (in reality it didnt)
2. It was a great story. dark and moody. some twists mixed in. good pacing. right up my alley. i will be recommending to people if they are up for that much of a book
It could have probably been split up into two or three books but its fine. it flowed great everything came together in the end!

The writing is atmospheric, the pacing is surprisingly tight for a 700+ page book, and the spice level ramps up like a Victorian séance gone wrong. You’ll question your sanity, and your type, multiple times. If you like your romance dark, your mysteries foggy, and your gothic heroines spiraling, this is your next read. Bonus points if you like men who whisper threats and declarations of love in the same breath.

love love love. the premise? Everything. The execution? DIVINE. The characters? Gimme more please. i absolutely devoured this and am so sad i can no longer read it again for the first time. If i could have a whole series set in fairydale i would.

I was given the opportunity to read this in ARC form before traditional publishing.

I wish they had denied me because this is the most vile book I have ever read, and not in a good way.

The trigger warnings include a notice for sexual assault scenes, but those warnings don't say exactly HOW MANY there are. The book quite literally starts out with one, including anti-choice sentiment in the aftermath of the scene.

This book is most comparable to Weyward, both in it's needless rape inclusions and themeing. Women from different time periods coming into their power after being assaulted yada yada yada. SA is NOT a vehicle for female empowerment.

All in all: do not read this ♥️

Wow! This book was full of twists and turns! It had you guessing until the end and was hard to put down! Well written with good characterization and plot development. Definitely worth reading!

If you enjoy moody, atmospheric romances that unfold slowly and culminate in emotionally charged, multi-layered revelation and you don’t mind a lengthy read then Fairydale may be a deeply rewarding experience. It’s lush, immersive, and offers a hauntingly evocative journey.

Im giving this 3.5-4 stars!

Darcy has to travel to the mysterious town of fairydale after her biological father passes, determined to get a sizeable inheritance she must stay in town. Mystery, love and past secrets await Darcy as she experiences all fairydale has to offer! This is a paranormal romance, with tons of mystery and suspense!

This story surprised me in the BEST way! I was so confused at first but intrigued enough I couldnt stop reading. Once I started to figure out and understand what was going on I was LOVING the story. I think it came together so beautifuly and was very unique and well done! The fuel timelines were also easy to follow which was really good!

The reason it wont get 5 stars from me and this is my personal opinion, is there was WAY too much spice. It also kept getting more raunchy each time there was a new spice scene. It really drew the book out too long. I think spice is ok when its not too much and adds to the story but I was so into the couple alone without all the added scenes. Again just my personal preference. I can totally understand why so many people love this book though and without the above I would of gave this 5 stars!

8 days and 1000 pages later. This book was a lot. I ultimately gave it 4 stars because the last 10% of the book did a 180 and gave me whiplash where it went in terms of who the characters are and felt like a completely different book than the beginning. Overall, I did really enjoyed it, but when the author said at the start of the book you can't skip anything, she was right. I was so hyper focused on not missing any anything and there was so much story, it took me a lot longer to read this book, I had to keep taking breaks. I did really enjoy, the almost whimsical, writing style; it sucked me in and made me picture the setting so easily which a book hasn’t done for me in a long time. This book really was different than anything l've read before; the book will definitely stick with me. I don't think this book is for everyone, but I think for the most part people will appreciate differences and risks it takes and how it sets itself a part from every other romance/romantasy book out there right now.
New Veronica Lancet fan.

TY Atria, Veronica Lancet and Netgalley for the ARC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

“What is love if not the thread that binds us through lifetimes?”

Fairydale by Veronica Lancet is a dark, hypnotic plunge into the Gothic—equal parts haunting mystery and eternal romance. Fans of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches will feel right at home in this shadowy, decadent world that pulses with magic, secrets, and longing that defies time itself.

I’ll be honest: for the first half of this book, I had absolutely no idea what was happening. Timelines shift. Realities blur. The plot is a beautiful, chaotic tangle. And yet—I loved every second of it. There's a seductive pull in the prose, like being lured deeper into the woods by a siren’s song. It doesn't ask you to understand right away; it asks you to trust it. And that trust pays off.

As the story unfolds and the veil lifts, Lancet masterfully reveals a love story that spans centuries—aching, fierce, and utterly unforgettable. The kind of romance that lingers in your bones long after the last page. The payoff is rich and rewarding, tying together threads you didn’t even realize were weaving into something greater.

Fairydale is a book that demands surrender: to the darkness, the magic, the passion, and the mystery. And if you give yourself to it, you’ll emerge breathless.

I received an eARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved this books. It’s really well done and intriguing. My only concern is the font. It was so tiny and very difficult to read. The book have been larger to make for the font. Other then that the story was excellent

Oh wow, this was... a book. I have a few friends who DNF'd this, but I'm no quitter. Although, I'll admit I started to feel uneasy when the author's intro seemed like she was trying to talk me out of reading this...

I saw this on NetGalley and I keep hearing about it so I decided to give it a go. Apparently it's re-releasing August with a bonus epilogue. Just what a 1000 page book needs... more pages! I sort of cheated and decided I could not get through the e-book and I needed to bust out an audio credit for this one. It was still a struggle. This was so unnecessarily long. Did we really need 3 separate timelines to explain everything? I think 2 would have been fine, but what do I know? Also, I love me some spice but most of the sexy scenes were at the weirdest moments. I just lost a close family member... make me forget by getting our nasty on? **insert vomit emoji**

If it's helpful, the bonus epilogue was kind of nice.

This wasn't for me, but thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

I love this book! 5 stars all the way. I loved that there were time jumps in this book. Everything is not how it seems for a good majority of the book which kept me holding on for dear life. I loved that it seemed like a “paranormal romance” at its core, but it truly was not. This love story has truly stood the test of time. I devoured this. The character development was very well done and I enjoyed seeing where their “lives” have taken us.

I’m honestly reeling from this book. Fairydale has officially earned a spot on my list of all-time favorites. I went in a little hesitant—there’s definitely a shroud of secrecy surrounding it, and for good reason. But trust me when I say: that secrecy only makes the unraveling that much more special.

This story is exquisite. A haunting, heart-wrenching, and breathtaking tale of love, loss, surrender, and survival. Veronica Lancet weaves together gothic elements, fantasy, horror, and romance so seamlessly, it feels like stepping into an entirely new world—one that is both achingly beautiful and deeply unsettling in the best way.

I adored these characters—not just for who they are, but for how raw and real they feel. Watching everything unfold through Darcy’s eyes, piecing together the mystery right alongside her, was such an intimate, immersive experience. And the small, quiet details scattered throughout? Genius. Looking back, they were all there, waiting.

This book kept me on edge, broke my heart a little, and has left me thinking about it. It’s the kind of story that lingers.

If I can give you one piece of advice: go in blind. Don’t read spoilers. Don’t look up reviews. Just trust the process—and let Fairydale completely wreck you in the most satisfying way.

I enjoyed reading every second of this story. The world building is an aspect that unravels as you read further—the memories/dreams behind a big part of it. Gothic romances is one of my favorite genres and this fits perfectly into the category.

Darcy’s character has so much depth, from the way she was raised, to her past lives and even what she goes through while living in Fairydale. The flashbacks were one of my favorite parts to read, they gave so much to the plot and understanding both darcy and amon as people.

Amon was possessive, protective and dangerous. Everyone seems to have a different perception of him and to some it was to see him as a bad guy. Seeing all the lies ever so slowly fall apart to tell the true story was so satisfying, especially with how much he suffers for it. He will forever be one of my favorite mmcs.

Darcy & Amon’s love story is not one that is always happy, especially in the beginning, but seeing them finally get their happy ending after everything that has happened to them was so heartwarming. Their story is very much a slow burn, at least in the aspect of them being able to love each other and be together. They were both sweet and dangerous, knowing no limit to what they would do for each other, no matter the circumstances.

Spoiler-Free Review
I loved the story, the plot and the characters in this book!
Amon has every green flag while being a big bad shadow daddy and you cant help but love him. Though some of the twists were obvious and I saw them coming, the way Veronica wrote them was perfect.
The length is a little daunting, but I don't think it could have been written any other way to connect with the characters and their stories in the way we did.
I also loved the way Lizzie and Sela's stories were told throughout and you find all the little connections between their past histories.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one —- Bronte meets Pam Godwin meets spicy romantasy. I definitely will be recommending for dark romantasy lovers! The biggest thing for this book’s success is marketing it as dark and gothic so it finds the right readers.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

This book really messed with me in the best way. It's dark, intense, and so atmospheric. I really enjoyed the main characters as well, they felt flawed and real, very human. Definitely not a light or fluffy read, but a very good read in my opinion. A dark fairytale with sharp edges!

I know this is a short review but I do not want to give anything away! it is better to go in blindly in my opinion (but check trigger warnings of course!)

This book has me really torn on how I felt about it. The beginning of the book was very confusing and the chemistry between Caleb and Darcy left me feeling uneasy. Without any context the instant possessiveness Caleb showed was a giant red flag and really took me out of their romance. I did feel like that helped highlight what she was feeling for Amon but as the story continued I had a hard time seeing past this first gut feeling about them.
Something about the FMC and MMC didn’t click for me. I didn’t feel the a strong connection to their relationship and struggle, even as I got to the climax of the book.
I did start to enjoy the story once the secrets and mystery started to come together. Seeing the pieces fit together made it much more interesting for me, and made me want to continue on with this book.
I do feel like the story was wrapped up too quickly and too neatly for one book. If this was spread out over a duology or trilogy I think things could have built more slowly and would have given this giant story time to breathe. I think I would have rated this much higher if it wasn’t crammed into one book like it was.

This book is an odd one given that I oscillate between really liking it and really disliking it depending on which plot points I choose to focus on. I loved the creepy gothic vibes and the insinuation that perhaps our girl Darcy is a bit of an unreliable, or perhaps mentally ill, narrator; though that like was tarnished by the unnecessary weirdness that was Caleb. While his actions were certainly odd enough to snag my attention in the beginning of the book, I feel that there's such a huge disconnect with who he is as a person and those initial actions - as if they were meant to be used as a plot device and had no real point aside from pushing buttons or filling the reader with questions. When everything comes out in the wash I struggle to imagine why some of the things that happened needed to happen between him and Darcy because once the truth's beginning to be revealed he doesn't go all crazed-creeper again.
Fairydale hit its stride when the truths began to unfold around 50% of the book and I was thoroughly invested. I loved the dual timelines and the satisfaction of filling in missing information was enough to keep me trudging through this really, really long book. I think I lost all my gumption for a while after a third timeline was introduced - not because I didn't like the character but because it felt so very different than the others. It felt like suddenly I was in a world of rainbows after being in painted in gothic sepia.
I'll admit that I do love monster romance but some stuff really came out of nowhere and I wish I could erase my knowledge of what Amon does with that tail. Maybe it's less about the actual appendage and my dislike of it is more because it just feels so random and a bit pointless.

First, I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to read this title in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, I am unable to finish reading this book, as it is just not for me. I made it to Chapter Twelve, page 186.

I struggle with long chapters in long books and tend to lose interest if I am not 100% invested in the character(s) and plot. Darcy's naivete and overall apathy about the strange things happening to her do not resonate with me as a reader, so I could not connect with her.

The plot was confusing up to the point I stopped, and while I understand everything ties together eventually, my inability to connect with the main character discourages me from continuing on toward the resolution.

I did, however, find myself thinking about the book when I would put it down, and wanting to know what happens, for which I give kudos to the author. Although this book was not for me, I know there are plenty of readers who will love this!

Thank you again for the opportunity to read and review this book through Netgalley!
