Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this audiobook ARC. My mind is blown wide open after listening to this amazing book. I love to read about neuropsychology, abnormal psychology and the likes but I was not familiar with DMT. First of all the narration by the author is absolutely beautiful and melodic to listen to throughout the entire book. But it’s the words that he’s saying that he’s written that he has studied that absolutely fractured my beliefs about reality. Each chapter takes you on a journey giving you scientific data and the actual experiences of those who have used DMT. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter as I was fascinated and had questions I wanted answers to. The next chapter would then go on to answer my questions but led me to more questions. I felt like I was addicted listening to these mind bending facts and stories. By the end of this audiobook I knew that our knowledge of the brain and DMT are in their early infancy and perhaps that is to protect us from what we are not yet ready to know. I ended up not finishing this book. It was very dry and the narrator was a bit grating. I think it would be a little more palatable if I had read the book instead of the audiobook. Fascinating concept just not for me.
