As someone who was primarily interested in this book as a way to connect with their dad, a Dead Head from the late 80’s, this was a surprisingly easily consumable book. Anderson blends his extensive research with his passion for the music and the iconography of The Wall. Even if your knowledge of The Grateful Dead and/or audio engineering is limited, I think you’ll really enjoy it!

Initially apprehensive that I wouldn’t understand the science and artistry behind The Grateful Dead’s Wall of Sound, I took the dive and enjoyed everything Brian Anderson had to offer. A must read for any sound engineer or aspiring musician. Understanding the complexity of the effort put into every show, even the most die hard of Dead Heads will learn something new!
