I got my hands on an advanced listening copy of Mean Moms, and what a ride it was! This book is the epitome of “rich people behaving badly,” blending sharp satire with an unfolding mystery that kept me entertained from start to finish.
Set around an elite New York private school, the story unfolds through multiple points of view from a group of moms—each more outrageous than the last. As strange and unfortunate things begin happening to them, the plot thickens in the most deliciously dramatic ways. The characters are so exaggerated in their privilege, pettiness, and paranoia that I found myself laughing out loud more than once.
One of my favorite aspects was the vivid New York setting—full of luxury, power plays, and name-dropped designer labels. It added a layer of authenticity and indulgence to the story that made it even more fun to listen to.
The narrator did a great job bringing the voices and personalities of these over-the-top characters to life. It was a light, engaging listen that didn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly what I needed.
If you're in the mood for something juicy, satirical, and full of designer drama, Mean Moms is an easy, entertaining pick.

Thank you to Netgalley and MacMillan Audio for the gifted ARC of the audiobook.
I had previously read this book, an ARC and looked forward to revisiting the story by listening to the audiobook.
It was just as fun a second time around!
The narration is spot on and perfectly captures each Mom distinctively. Including the main Mom Sophia, accent and all.
The audiobook and the book are a perfect beach read! It is a page-turner.

Meet a group of wealthy, privileged, sneaky, devious, and mean moms. Not all the moms, but enough of them to make the goings on at Atherton Academy, a posh private school in Manhattan, entertaining, shocking, and at times funny! Since new Mom Sofia arrived from Miami with her 2 kids in tow, strange things began to happen to the cliquey popular Mom group. Is she the reason?

Better than any reality show! Great summer read

The Drama!! Yall, if you're into juicy drama and unhinged moms, this is for you. It was quite intriguing watching this story unfold before my eyes, I was hooked. So many ladies are just trying to out match the others in every mom way possible. This is exactly how I expect it to be in high society women groups, but I enjoyed it. The way the author writes is truly compelling, I had so many doubts about so many of them and was SHOCKED when the twists happened to make the reveal. Loved this drama and unhinged group of ladies!

I received this audiobook from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio to listen/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.

Another stellar read from Emma Rosenblum. I loved her two previous books, so I was afraid my expectations might be too high, but she has done it again! Her trademark biting wit and characters that jump off the page are both here, along with a plot rife with intrigue. You couldn't ask for more for a totally engrossing time -- except maybe a perfect narrator if you listen to the audiobook -- and Mean Moms has that as well. The narrator perfectly captures that sardonic tone, and never fails to hold the listener's interest.
Will definitely be recommending this to fans of Emma's previous books as well as those of Maria Semple and Elior Lipman. Bravo.

“Mean Moms” is a cautionary tale of what happens the wealthy elite group of moms of Atherton Seminary is suddenly disrupted by the arrival of an outsider. Frost, Morgan and Nell are all having a patch of bad luck when Sophia arrives, but it’ll that all it is?

This is a twisty chaotic mystery sets in amongst the Manhattan wealthy. None of the characters are particularly likable in this rich behaving badly trope, with each character having their own motivations. I was a little perplexed at the end, but found this faster paced book a fun listen enjoying both the satire and the humor throughout. January LaVoy did a great job at narrating this bring each character to life.

This audiobook was so fun! It’s like reality tv at its finest. The cliques, the drama, the gossip, everything was just perfect. The narrator nailed it with the catty mom vibes. It seriously was just an enjoyable listen!

Thank you Emma Rosenblum, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the ALC!

I can't help it; I enjoy novels about rich people misbehaving. I like the little insight that shows that money can't always buy happiness, and this one is no exception. I found this one to be a good time, a light read where you're kept guessing throughout as you try to figure out which of these seemingly perfect moms is the real psychopath. I was definitely engaged the entire time and thoroughly enjoyed the narration.

I was privileged to be given a complementary edition of the audiobook. Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. This review is my own words and thoughts. The name of the book is appropriate for the mothers that had children going to the exclusive Atherton School. The plot revolves around a distinct set of 4 "best" friends, one of which can only be called a psychopath. There is a death and multitudes of aggravating incidents that occur throughout making it difficult to know which of the 4 is the culprit, until the end. The narrator was clearnand gave a good performance of a well-paced book.

Audiobook narrator was excellent!

I love this book and so appreciate the chance to listen to it before publication. The narrator is wonderful - her ability to play so many characters, especially so many of the moms, was a benefit to listening to this! I don’t want to give anything away, but I thought the author wrote these characters so well - at points I was rooting for each of the Fab Four, at times I was annoyed with each. So much to dissect and love. This is a guilty pleasure book and I had so much fun with it. Highly recommend!

I liked this book… but I didn’t love it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a “Gossip Girl” meets “Pretty Little Liars” kind of vibe—perfect for a beach read.

It was definitely engaging. I spent most of the time trying to figure out what was really going on, which kept me hooked (bonus points for that!). But the ending? Meh. It was fine, just kind of plain. I actually had to reread the last three chapters—three times—just to make sense of what I’d just read 😂

Don’t get me wrong, it was enjoyable, and the audiobook was great—the narrator and production were top-notch. But the story itself didn’t feel very impactful. When I read thrillers, I’m usually chasing that mind-blowing, can’t-stop-thinking-about-it ending. This wasn’t that.

A solid choice if you want something entertaining and easy to listen to while working. But if you're looking for something that will haunt your thoughts, this one might not be it.

hank you NetGalley for the Audiobook ARC of Mean Moms!!

I was pleasantly surprised by Mean Moms! It was a fun read with unlikeable (but in a good way) characters, scandals, and rich-people parties! The author really transported me into the lives of Manhattan’s Elite Moms. This book made me laugh, it made me gasp in horror, and made me feel like I was in Manhattan right alongside our main characters.

While almost none of the characters in this book were practical or normal, I found myself invested in their stories and scandals that they were experiencing. And while the characters in this book were by no means good people or even good moms, I kind of loved them!

My only complaints were the following:
1) I wish we saw more of the kids in this book and how they were affected by their mother’s behaviors. That would have added an interesting aspect to the book.
2) I wish the book was a little faster paced. While I enjoyed almost every minute of it, it definitely could have been a little less slow!

The audiobook itself was very well done and the narrator did a great job of reading different voices!

Overall I enjoyed Mean Moms a lot! I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes reading about morally gray characters and people with lots of money and extravagant lifestyles!

This book was wildly entertaining. A bit predictable, but still fun to read. Wealthy NY moms, expensive school, cue all the things you’d expect, until…in walks wealthy Miami mom, or so they think. I was really expecting a bit of a thriller but to me this was much more of a dramedy, along the lines of Desperate Housewives.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This story follows a group of affluent women living in NYC and how their lives are entangled with lies, deceit and infidelity. This reminded me of stories similar to the Real Housewives.

This was not my favorite from this author, but it was a bit entertaining. Would recommend if you like your stories messy with a lot of backstabbing women. Just ok for me. The audiobook narration was really good and captured all the snarkiness of each character.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC for this book!

Mean Moms by Emma Rosenbaum is a sharp, fast-paced thriller that dives into the dark undercurrents of suburban motherhood. With biting wit and just the right dose of suspense, Rosenbaum explores the lengths women will go to protect their children—and their secrets. I flew through this ARC and loved the mix of PTA drama and psychological tension. Perfect for fans of Big Little Lies. Thanks to NetGalley for the Audiobook

This was such a fun and sassy thriller that I have come to expect from Rosenblum. In fact, this cast of characters and the plot made this her best book yet! If you like reading about rich mamas behaving badly, this book is for you! It really is a parody of rich people and how silly their problems are. I just love books like this that have substance. There are great messages in here among a lot of mystery and fun. The audiobook was fantastic and made it even more fun! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Emma Rosenblum writes the most fun books, and this one is no exception! This was a well written, rich people behaving badly story with flawed characters and tons of drama. I love that the storyline is really over the top. It made it so much fun to read.
The ending of the story was very satisfying. I was shocked by the twists and outcome because I truly didn't see it coming.

I absolutely loved the audio version of this book. January LaVoy did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Except when a series of targeted attacks against the moms of Atherton, especially Sofia’s new friends, the only common denominator is Sofia. Mean Moms...They are rich, beautiful, and scary as hell. Frost, Belle, and Morgan are the IT moms of Atherton Academy, but what you see isn't always what you get and everyone has a secret or two they would like to remain buried. And wouldn't the other moms love to hear all about it? Enter Sophia, a single mom, new to the New York scene. Hailing from Miami, Sophia finds herself quickly adopted in the elite group, but when strange, no dangerous things begin to happen at Atherton, fingers start pointing at the common denominator, Sophia. What have they done to themselves by taking her in? What have they done to their kids? their community? their beloved school?

This book follows an eventful school year in the lives of these women as they try to figure out who or what is against them and what they can do to stop it. This is a book you won't be able to put down.
