This was a perfect audio listen for when you are bopping around the house doing laundry or in your car on the way to pick up the kids. The narration was fabulous and it was a fun listen!

The book centers on 3 wealthy mothers in NYC, and an outsider that just moved in. Part character study and part mystery. The mystery aspect kept me listening and the characters kept me laughing.

Pick up if you liked - Bad Moms movie (loved it!!!)

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audiobook. All thoughts are my own

A group of wealthy NYC mothers, who have children that attend the best school money can buy, notice a new mom, Sofia, at school when she makes quite the entrance. Naturally, these moms buy their popularity and one of the things they are known for is throwing elaborate themed parties.

This book certainly has their cliques, pta scandals, affairs, and basically whatever else you can think of that comes out of being a mother to school aged children. There's lots of upstaging each other. Think crazy rich people with all the drama they bring. It's like a snippet out of a Real Housewives show, but not as crazy. There's even a modern day Bridgerton style party, minus the dancing. The multiple povs in this book get a little confusing, but I get why we needed to hear from everyone. I was honestly expecting more “mean” in this book, if that makes sense. Maybe I'm just comparing it to my own personal interactions with mean moms, especially over the last year or so, but I just expected more. It wasn't bad though.

January LaVoy did a great job narrating this book! I've been lucky enough to have listened to her before, and I can't wait to again.

A big thank you to Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy of this audiobook. Opinions are my own.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You're a fan of satire, like other people's drama, and a little bit of mystery.

The drama in this book was great. It definitely went places I wasn't expecting. But parts of it were a struggle to be able to push through because it was SO descriptive on certain trigger warnings that I did not realize were such a big part.

Trigger warnings for weight loss, weight focus, diet products, needle use, cheating, etc.

This was such a fun read!

I’m not a mom so have never been anywhere close to the world of upscale mothers in downtown Manhattan, but I was immediately brought into this world from the first couple of chapters, and never left.

I wasn’t really sure where this book was going to go, but I enjoyed being along for the journey. I found myself immediately invested in each of the moms in the group, and had my own favorites.

The audiobook specifically was really engaging, and the narrator did a great job of encapsulating each character.

If you love drama, rich people, or socialites, pick this one up!

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by January LaVoy. The narration was spot on for all these women.

This is the story of what goes on with the parents of kids attending a highly prized private school in Manhattan. It is a mystery surrounding the elite of the elite moms. Things (and I don't mean good things) start happening to the women of this small cliche. Soon they are wondering if it is someone in their group behind all the mishaps.

This was a really good mystery. It definitely kept me listening intently.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audiobook. All thoughts are my own.

Was not what I had thought the book was going to be. Still a light read, wished it would have been better.

This is a strange one.
I definitely appreciated this story’s take on moms in social circles, and their interactions, prejudices, and overall meanness.
Some parts of this book felt far fetched, but I also think this is Rosenblum’s style. She loves to create 0 likable characters or characters you love to hate, and she stays true to that as well here.
Mean Moms follows a few different mother’s and their families attending Atherton, a private school in Manhattan for the rich and famous. Scandal, deceit, affairs, and sabotage run rampant throughout these clicks, and you really don’t know who is actually truthful (if any) until the end.
If you need some drama in your reading schedule, pick this one up.
Thank you netgalley for the arc!

Filled with lots of juicy drama!

It’s back to private school for the rich kids in Manhattan and some of moms have big plans this year. Morgan is opening a sound bath spa and Nell is hoping to launch her own fashion line. When a beautiful and mysterious mom from Miami, Sofia, arrives on the first day of school, she immediately inserts herself into the school’s Queen Bee group. But a series of very unfortunate events quickly causes these snobby New York moms to unravel and turn on each other.

If you enjoy reading about rich people behaving badly then this one is for you!

The audio narration was fantastic performed by January LaVoy.

Thank you Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, and the author for this ALC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be available for purchase on July 29,2025

Raunchy, crazy, with more drama than my head could even fathom. In her third novel Rosenblum adds a likable character amongst the otherwise dark and deeply flawed ones. I’m glad for this because it made this one a bit more enjoyable for me. If you’re looking for a bingeable fascinating catastrophe and have enjoyed her previous books then you should add this to your list!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) for the audio book called Mean Moms by Emma Rosenblum and narrated by January LaVoy. The narrator did a wonderful job on this book.
This was a story about drama between rich moms at a private posh school. It`s a gossipy book and quite fast paced. Lots of relevant references as well. Fun time listening! I gave it a 3.5 star rating, rounding down.

Thank you NetGalley for the audio edition. The drama of women with nothing else to do as they are so rich they don’t need to work!!! The private school mom group who hid so many secrets.

Emma Rosenblum has solidified herself as an auto-buy author for me with this juicy read (or listen). I absolutely live for gosspy stories revolving around the 0.1%, and this hit that mark.

The writing was sharp and insightful. The characters were realistic and I could imagine each of their personalities in the space they occupied. Their problems were well-written (and while unrealistic for the masses, I know a handful of people in this sphere, to whom these problems track, in real life). And the entertainment value? This would be such a saucy movie! And the narrator was phenomenal!!

Emma Rosenblum strikes again with Mean Moms, a razor-sharp, irresistibly juicy satire-meets-mystery set in the glossy, competitive world of elite Manhattan motherhood. Think Big Little Lies meets Real Housewives, but with more Birkin bags and backstabbing.

We’re introduced to Frost, Morgan, and Belle—three fabulously wealthy, hyper-stylish moms whose lives revolve around themed school events, Pilates, and social one-upmanship at the elite Atherton Academy. They reign supreme, until Sofia, a stunning newcomer from Miami, breezes in and disrupts their social order. At first, she seems too perfect—gorgeous, charming, effortlessly accepted. But as she slides deeper into their inner circle, bad things begin to happen. Is it just coincidence… or sabotage?

Rosenblum does what she does best here: skewering the privileged with wit and precision. Her writing is clever, biting, and compulsively readable, turning the PTA and school drop-off lines into war zones of passive aggression and hidden agendas. But beneath the satire is a well-constructed mystery that simmers with suspense as the school year unfolds and friendships teeter between loyalty and envy.

What makes Mean Moms stand out is how it manages to be both hilarious and genuinely intriguing. The characters are caricatures of excess and vanity, but they’re also painfully real in their insecurities, ambitions, and fears of being left out.

If you loved Bad Summer People or Very Bad People, you’ll devour this one. With every sharp-tongued quip and shocking twist, Rosenblum proves she’s in a league of her own when it comes to dishing on the dark side of the glamorous elite. I’m already counting the days until her next book.

Five stars. Snarky, smart, and sinfully fun.

I love books about rich people behaving badly but this was not for me. Maybe it’s because I’m not a mom, idk. I think my main problem was with such unique names, I couldn’t keep control of who was who in my brain. Therefore the storyline was all over the place. I’ve seen lots of people love this but I Dnf at 30%

Mean Moms is a satirical and hilarious tale of a group of wealthy moms with children in an elite private school in NYC. Not all of them are exactly as they appear, drama ensues and we get a front row seat to all of their scandalous shenanigans.

January LaVoy is amazing, as always, narrating this highly recommended audiobook. I would listen to her performing pretty much anything.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a light, funny audiobook about wealthy folks behaving badly.

OMG- this book had me laughing out loud! It was funny and it had mystery. It also addressed some of the issues that parents experience with their children. I think that it can be difficult to discuss some of the parenting issues, but this book provided a light-hearted peek into the perspective of other people. LOVED IT! Narration was on point and added to an already great story.

I listened to the audiobook. I found it hard to get into, and I think the story would work better in written format.
I enjoyed the drama between the main characters and found that the story picked up partway through. I thought the transitions between narration, emails, texts, etc were well done.
Overall the story was very fun, I liked the different transitions between characters and all of their points of view.

Mean Moms is a sharp, satirical take on uber-wealthy urban motherhood, where group chats double as battlegrounds and small dramas spiral into something far messier. Set in an elite, PTA-obsessed community, the story follows a group of moms whose scheming and social maneuvering blur the line between entertaining and unhinged. It’s a portrait of privilege, chaos, and the pressure to maintain a perfect facade—even when everything’s unraveling.

The audiobook, narrated by January LaVoy, brings the story to life in a big way. LaVoy gives each character a distinct voice and captures the humor and bite of the writing without turning it into caricature. The group chat sections were especially well done—spot-on, hilarious, and occasionally triggering in a “this feels too real” kind of way. The narration helped keep the pacing lively and made the satirical tone feel more natural.

While the story is fun in its chaos, not all of it worked for me. The moms’ antics sometimes felt more grating than juicy, and Morgan, in particular, was downright insufferable. Still, the ending pulled things together in a satisfying way, adding a bit of depth to an otherwise breezy, drama-filled listen. If you enjoy social satire with a strong audiobook performance, this one’s worth checking out.

Sometimes you just want to listen to a book about rich women behaving badly, and if that’s the case for you, pick up this audiobook! I thought this was such an entertaining listen. The story focuses on an elite group of wealthy “it moms” whose children all attend a private school in New York City. Like most groups of women, they all have secrets from each other and have shifting power dynamics. When strange things keep happening to this clique, people start to wonder if they are being targeted by a sinister individual. This book is full of wild parties, cheating spouses, questionable business habits, and more and I lapped it up. I found it to be very enthralling to listen to, and I could not wait to figure out how it ended. My jaw dropped on the last chapter, that’s for sure. Overall, I definitely recommend this for an easy breezy but sometimes sleazy book to pack in a beach bag or to listen to when you’re ignoring your real life!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced listening copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
