Part mystery, part satire but could not put it down. There were multiple POVs going on and while I loved the audiobook I felt the physical books would have made this easier.. There were a lot of characters u til you got to know them and could tell them apart It was still such a good book nonetheless. Good writing and twists. This is a perfect beach read.

Mean Moms by Emma Rosenblum follows three glamorous Manhattan mothers whose perfectly curated lives begin to unravel with the arrival of a mysterious newcomer. As secrets surface and chaos creeps in, this sharp, witty satire blends social drama with a touch of suspense to explore just how far envy and ambition can go behind closed doors.

I was given an advance copy of this audiobook narrated by January LaVoy, and it was such a fun, campy ride that made me extra grateful my kids are grown and I don’t have to navigate the school moms scene anymore. If you think cliques end in high school, this story is a reminder that grown-up versions still thrive in the pick-up lines and PTA meetings of elite schools. The book is packed with messy drama, toxic friendships, and scandalous twists, and I can’t lie, it was wildly entertaining to watch it all unfold. It had the same energy as rubbernecking at a highway accident, and I was completely hooked. I finished it in one day and found it to be the perfect reset between heavier reads.

January LaVoy is phenomenal as always, bringing distinct voices and personality to each character with her signature style and skill. If you’re in the mood for something quick, chaotic, and totally enjoyable, this delicious mess of a book is worth a listen.

This book was a gripping mystery thriller that kept me guessing until the very end! I loved how realistic it was, with no over-the-top elements. The details were well-crafted and easy to follow, making it a page-turner from start to finish

3.75/5 rounded up

Thank you Macmillan Audio for the advanced listening copy!

This was such a fun, rich people, mommy drama! This was different than I expected, and I think January LaVoy's narration led to a different vibe than I anticipated. I had nooo idea what was happening for most of this book, or where the overall plot was heading.

Every single character was likeable and unlikeable at the same time. They were each a bit infuriating, bratty, twisted divas, but I rooted for them all the same. I don't know what it is about rich people behaving badly, but it gets me hooked every time! The pranks and sabotage were so entertaining and clever -- I really was shocked with what they came up with! There was tons of foreshadowing and symbolism, which really came together by the end. And some truly shocking twists!!

I do think that this book got a little redundant at times, and there were lots of characters and their kids to keep track of, which was hard to navigate at the beginning.

Overall, this was solid, shocking, and entertaining, if not a little bit long/confusing towards the start. I really like Emma Rosenblum's writing, and will definitely come back for more!

This is a fun and snarky swipe at a a group of rich, snooty moms that someone is trying to humiliate. The mystery works, the writing is snappy, and the characters are distinct and fun to poke fun at but also root for.

An OK listen; a bit long for my liking, especially with the way it all played out. Would be a good palate cleanser for easy reading.

I couldn't put this book down! This book had the feeling of a thriller even though I wouldn't categorize it as such. There is something dark about the moms in this book. It feels like Mean Girls for adults. The narrator really gave you the feeling of the upper class elite of New York City. Overall a perfect guilty pleasure.

I really enjoyed "mean moms". It was hilarious, interesting, and kept me wanting to read more. It made my glad that I don't live in NYC, but I sure loved reading about it.

This is a book about moms who need more to do with their lives. They are super rich and super dramatic. There is so much going on in their friend group and at the school. It is just so above my life, but it was still entertaining.

Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.

I do love a good rich people being naughty, Housewives-esque story!

There's plenty of drama, betrayal, gossip, and scandal in this fun beach read.
We follow a group of rich New York socialites as they navigate their friendships, social lives, and the hierarchy of being a private school parent. In addition to that, it appears to they are being targeted in a vindictive game to tear them down and destroy everything they care about. But who is behind these attacks? Could it possibly be one of their own?

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great job of keeping the voices of each character distinct. Even though there were multiple perspectives, I was never confused over which character was which.

This is a great guilty pleasure summer read, and I definitely recommend.

This was a lot of fun if a little leap-y in terms of its expansive plot. The roads in NYC have a few plotholes, and this one does, too. That being said, a novel about the juicy, dirty ways that the mothers of an elite Manhattan private school is bound to be full of moments that are unrealistic but still somehow believable. I loved the way that the novel pulled from actual NYC socialites (fiction, of course) and Emma Rosenblum knows how to keep a plot moving at great pace.

I went into this book with some trepidation. Many years ago I read Prospect Park West by Amy Sohn and Mean Moms sounded remarkably similar. Sohn's book had its satirical moments, plus lots of name-dropping and place-naming, but what it lacked was characters with heart. Rosenblum nails this problem.

None of the "mean moms" are especially likable and I wasn't exactly rooting for any of them. And yet. There was vitality and heart to them. There's the mom who is tempted by an affair but resists because she actually does love her husband even if he's tiresome sometimes. There's the moment where a mean mom second-guesses meanness. The characters have just enough heart to charm me.

Add the zany, but just nearly believable plot, lots of humor with a sarcastic edge, and you get a devilishly funny book.

The narrator for the audiobook is fabulous and the book is very well done in audio format. This is the perfect companion to long airport waits or long drives. Highly recommended.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for sharing the audiobook with me.

Mean wealthy Manhattan moms of private school kids scramble as bad things start happening to them after a new mom from Miami joins the school. Told from alternating POVs this was just an okay read for me. I'm not a fan of rich people behaving badly stories and there were really no redeeming characters in the mix in this one. It was okay on audio read by January LaVoy but I do wish it would have a had a full cast so each mom got a different narrator to help distinguish between them when the POV changed. Overall this was fairly predictable and not one I'll remember but fans of books like Big little lies, Moms like us, All the other mothers hate me or Primates of Park Avenue. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

After reading this book I would not classify this book as a thriller, but more of a mystery book that I did enjoy.
This book focuses in on a group of wealthy moms in NYC whose kids all attend an elite private school. The school has an interesting headmaster Dr. Broker who you will discover is into some really crazy behavior. These moms which include main characters of Frost, Morgan, Nell and Sofia. Sofia is my fav and she has just moved to the city from Miami after a nasty divorce and is trying make friends with the moms. Some parts of this book reminds me of an episode of the Desperate Housewives series because the women are competing against each other and always trying to get one over on each other.
In this story there seems to be some mean spirited things done to these moms to tarnish their reputations amongst the elite society moms in the school. The mystery is trying to figure out who is the person that is sabotaging emails, fashion events and trying to destroy other moms marriages all to cover themselves from being outed as a sociopath.
If you want a quick read that is a fun mystery to read this is your book. I loved the drama and I loved reading about these crazy rich moms. The author did a good job in developing the various mom and dad characters, and I liked how the author tied the story up in the end. This was a fun read about some crazy moms!
Thank you Macmillan audio and Net galley for allowing me to read this arc.

Thank you Flatiron for an ARC of “ Mean Moms”. My favorite trope is rich people behaving badly and wow did this book deliver. This book is about three super wealthy women, who have ridden the coattails of the men in their lives. All of their children go to a very affluent school in NYC and things get a little weird when Sophia, a new mom comes to the school. It seems that someone has targeted this friend group, but why?

This book kept me guessing til the end, I laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of these women, and I can’t wait to see the movie that will inevitably follow this crew.

I've read all of Emma Rosenblum's books and this one was by far my favorite -- it doesn't hurt that it's one of my favorite things to read about, mom groups in New York. It was so entertaining and made me appreciate my own mom groups and their lack of drama.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys mom drama -- it's so engaging and I didn't want to turn it off! The dynamics of the school and the friendships between the characters were so good.

I listened to this one and I loved January LaVoy as the narrator, She's one of my faves and she did a great job bringing these terrible moms to life.

I am excited to see what Emma Rosenblum writes next, I will definitely be reading it!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!

I was not a fan of the characters or the drama and just could not connect with the book. If you are big on female drama and chaos, this may be a better fit for you!

Mean Moms is about a group of women from Manhattan, New York who are wealthy and have children attending a very prestigious school. Frost, Morgan, Belle, and Sofia were the main mom friend group who hung out and attended school functions. Sofia originally from Miami was new to the group and wanted to fit in well with the other moms. Suddenly bad events started to take place such a motor accident, a theft/burglary, poisoning of a school official via Sofia’s baked goods and all the ladies started to wonder why such things were happening and who is behind it all.

Tropes: Cheating, Bully, Blackmail, Revenge plot

Mean Moms was like listening to an episode of Housewives of Manhattan. There was a lot of backstabbing, toxic friendships/relationships and bullying. The narrator, January LaVoy, was great at portraying the characters, especially Sofia, because she felt like the realest character out of all them. Morgan was my least favorite character. I’m glad at the end justice was served!

Thank you Netgalley and McMillan audio for a copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Rich bitches backstabbing each other? Sign me up! I enjoyed the premise of this one, and the characters really drew me in. My only critique would be that some parts in between the sabotaged events were a little slow. Overall, this was a fun read. I wouldn't say the "twists" were that shocking, but that didn't detract from the story. I liked it!
