This story follows Natalia, an F1 reporter, and Klaus, a team principal, and their relationship after a one-night stand. The story is set over several years and shows how the characters keep being brought together in the F1 world.
I thought the concept of this story was very compelling and like the dynamic of a reporter x team principal. The complexities of finding love while also navigating professional boundaries and obligations is interesting.
However, I think this intriguing concept was poorly executed. The relationship between Natalia and Klaus was just very toxic and unhealthy and I think both needed to work on themselves before diving into a relationship. Honestly, I think Natalia’s insecurities brought out the worst in people and she was just very unlikeable to me. The audio also wasn’t my favorite as Klaus’s lines and chapters were narrated with a German accent which gave off a Dr. Doofenshmirtz vibe - which made the smutty scenes really weird to listen to.
This might be a great read for die-hard F1/Toto Wolf fans, but it just didn’t work for me.

I picked this because I've never read any book in the formula 1 world and was so intrigued. Do i think I've learned anything about the sport? Maybe slightly. Ha.
The spice was hot and the characters relationship was really fun and flirty.

The narrators were great on this, and I loved that their accents matched the characters correctly!
This was a fun read; at the beginning I was a little worried it would be insta-love, but the main characters had enough personal hang-ups to get through that it was a rollercoaster from start to finish!
The character arcs for them both made sense, although Klaus was slightly stiffer than I wanted him to be. We didn’t see his POV as often, which I think made the difference there.
Overall, it was an entertaining listen and I now need to read more F1 romances!

I like there relationship but found out I'm not an audio person but would read this if it's a physical book as I would 100% recommend

Thank you to the author, audio publisher, and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Coming in Hot certainly lives up to its name in the beginning—there’s early steam, witty banter, and an exciting age-gap, forbidden romance set in the world of Formula 1. The chemistry felt promising, and the narration (especially the Austrian accent!) brought the story to life beautifully. If you're in it for the spice, there's definitely something here to enjoy.
That said, the story began to lose momentum for me as it progressed. While a one-night-stand trope can be a solid setup for emotional depth, I found myself struggling with a few key elements:
The time jumps made it hard to stay connected to the couple’s journey. Much of the relationship development happened off-page, often told through recaps instead of shown in real time. This made it difficult to feel fully invested in their arc.
Character maturity felt inconsistent. Despite being in their 30s and 40s, both characters came across as emotionally underdeveloped. Their dynamic often felt more like a weekend fling than a meaningful relationship, with frequent arguments and little growth in between. The miscommunication trope didn’t help—it made it harder to root for them.
Side characters didn’t offer much grounding either. Most felt distant or unlikable by the end, which left the story feeling even more isolated.
TL;DR: Coming in Hot starts with strong spice and potential, but the emotional depth and plot structure didn’t work for me. While the narration was excellent and the writing had its steamy moments, I struggled to stay engaged. It may appeal to others, but ultimately, it wasn’t the right fit for me.

this felt like a 15 year old teenage girl, who’s ovulating, discovered drive to survive on netflix and with that the great toto wolff and so she decided to write a fanfiction on wattpad/ao3. this was terrible. and also, as a german „kleine hexe“ is not a cute or sexy nickname PLEASE

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

Thank you to the author, audio publisher, and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Coming in Hot definitely lived up to its title. We were at a solid spice level by 2% in, and I had to do a double take like, wait, already?! Things escalate fast, and the dirty talk? Genuinely delightful. If you’re here for heat, this book brings it. And a sexy Austrian accent!
That said, I struggled with a few elements that pulled me out of the story. The fmc is written in first person and repeatedly describes how hot she is. I mean, sure, self-confidence is great! But after the second or third time, it started to feel a little self-congratulatory and distracting. At one point her friend even starts ranting about how much hotter Natalia is than her. It was just a little strange for me.
There’s also some time-skipping that threw me off. It makes sense given it’s an F1 romance with time gaps between races. But my adhd brain had trouble staying immersed in the plot, and I found myself trying to mentally piece together what happened off-page.
And then there’s Klaus. I really tried, but he just didn’t work for me. He makes a rough first impression, and even though I usually don’t mind age gaps, the dynamic between him and Natalia felt mismatched—like they were living in totally different universes. Their chemistry just didn’t click for me, despite the strong tension and physical connection written into the story.
All in all, the plot was coherent, the steamy scenes were well-written, and the narration was solid. This book will absolutely hit the mark for many romance readers. It just didn’t quite do it for me.

This was my first F1 romance and unfortunately my unfamiliarity with the genre caused me to struggle to engage with the plot of this book. It also featured some tropes that are personally not my favorites. I did think the writing was solid overall, and the spicy was particularly well done. I loved the audiobook performances (great use of accents!) and could see this being a lot of fun for the right reader. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t me.

Coming in Hot is a Formula 1 romance that starts off steamy, but the heat quickly fizzled out as did my interest in the story.
Natalia is starting a new job as a reporter for Auto Racing Journal, and she has a one night stand with an attractive mystery man during her first Grand Prix weekend. She soon finds out that man is none other than the Emerald Team Principal, Klaus.
The story is told through dual POVs, but I had a hard time connecting with both of the main characters. They were often frustrating, and I did not find myself rooting for them throughout their tumultuous relationship. I couldn’t connect to any of the supporting characters either and found them annoying as well.
The chapters primarily take place during F1 Grand Prix weekends which means there are frequent time jumps between chapters. A lot seems to happen during these gaps, and the author relies heavily on telling the reader about the aftermath instead of showing us the situation as it unfolds.
Without getting into any spoilers, I do want to note that the book features one of my least favorite tropes at the end, and that suddenly causes everything to end happily which was not believable.
I also struggled with the writing. The dialogue was clunky, and it took me out of the scene at times, even making me cringe during spicy scenes.
Despite all of this, I really enjoyed the audiobook which featured two narrators who were both great.
It was still a quick, fun read overall. Give it a try if you like Formula 1 sports romance, forbidden romance, and MCs with an age gap.
Thank you to Hachette Audio for providing this advance listening copy for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This title is so fitting because there is smut in the first chapter 😍 I honestly liked this one a little better than the first book. Probably because I liked Klaus and Nat’s characters a lot more. I was also a fan of all the time jumps, I think it helped move the story along and keep it interesting. And I know that trope at the ending will make people mad but I am here for it! This one was even better than Double Apex for me.

Unfortunatelly this book was a total miss for me.i couldnt connect with any of these characters, every time i felt like i may start to they go and do something that annoys me. for everyones grown age all of the characters felt extremely immature.
i think that this book had the potential to be really good but with all of the time jumps literally every single chapter it felt hard to get any sense of what in the world was going on. nothing is really being shown to me just told at various stages of the book?? . its hard to care about characters and their relationships if im not being shown any of the process of them falling in or out of love. The audiobook was the only reason i was able to finish the story.
Thank you netgallary and haechett audio for the alc.

I personally loved the idea of this story, but unfortunately the voice for the audiobook really threw me off and I couldn’t finish this one😭.

This was my first F1 read and I might be an F1 convert now 🤭. It’s such a cute romcom that follows a journalist who falls for a team principal. As someone who knows nothing about F1, it does a great job of making it easy to follow.
The spice hits immediately, we’re literally opening with it🥵 The pacing is quick enough that you can easily binge it in a day or two. Travel is a big theme, with the characters constantly jumping to new cities, which keeps the setting feeling fresh.
I really enjoyed the narration. The voices matched the vibe of the story so well and made it super easy to stay engaged without getting lost👏🏼

I plowed through this ALC - story was hood, plot twists was good.
Overall i had a really good time listening to this book

Oh lord… where to even begin.
I had SUCH high expectations going into this book and I was very excited. But I was so disappointed with how this story went and how it was written.
Number one, the time jumps were too often and too large and honestly seemed to take away from the story. I understand that the F1 season is LONG and would be hard to write all in one book. But the jumps were, I kid you not, at the start of EVERY chapter. It felt like the story was going on off page and we were just getting a little back brief on what was going on instead of actually seeing it. It also left me wondering what exactly had happened and why the characters made those choices.
Next, every single character in this book had no redeeming qualities. Both the FMC (35) and MMC (45) acted like they were MAYBE 18 years old. Their lack of ability to communicate and actual work together as a couple was astounding. Honestly, this book would have been better with NO HEA. The whole entire relationship was built on lies and deception. In what world is that a good a good foundation to begin the relationship??? All they did was fight and then sleep with each other.
Don’t even get me started on Natalia’s best friend. May that type of friendship NEVER find me.
I genuinely feel as if the book was not complete but somehow wrapped up with the most infuriating ending. It seemed very lazy and just an easy way to wrap everything up but nothing was actually even wrapped up.
Also the plot twist at the end literally could have been prevented and the fact that it occurred when they acknowledge the twist not once, BUT twice, and then it still happens is just mind boggling.
I spent more times cringing during this book and contemplating DNFing it than anything.

I really wanted to love this book but it was just not for me. I’ll be completely honest this took me about 2.5 weeks to listen to and if it wasn’t an ALC I would have DNF’d around 20%. The whole cast of characters are incredibly toxic and I really struggled to find a single redeeming quality in any of them. The FMC, Natalie, lost me completely when she was complaining about all the men she goes on dates with/ends up in a relationship with being married and in the next breath states that she doesn’t even ask anymore since its inevitable that she ends up with a married man. As for Klaus, the MMC, he just didn’t actually seem that into it. I don’t think that he ever actually got over his first wife dying. Overall, there was just zero emotional connection with any of the characters. I will not be going back and reading the first book in the series.
This was a duel narration audiobook. There was a not great German accent from both narrators but I don’t think that was necessarily their fault (German is hard). Other than that they did a good job – I would listen to them again.

Natalia Evans is a journalist preparing to cover her first F1 race season. On her first night, she meets a handsome stranger in the hotel lobby and they sleep together. Come to find out he is Klaus Franca team principal of Emerald, one of the premier racing teams. They'll spend the season teasing one another through country after country trying to deny their attraction all while battling the opposition in which their respective roles place them.
There are a couple of things I really appreciate about the book. I liked that Klaus is older, not inappropriately so, but that he's lived this whole other life before Natalia and he's lost and been through some things and I thought it was a very interesting dynamic between them. I almost wish it would have been explored just a little bit more.
I also liked the conflict between Natalia being a journalist whose job it is to, basically, report on Klaus' job which leads to more than a few secrets between them. Which allows for some interesting conflict - the exploration of which gets a bit messy, but I think that's par for the course seeing as how I don't think there is an easy answer when your jobs place you on opposite ends.
Unfortunately, there were probably more things that didn't work out for me so well. The story is told throughout the the racing season. I personally am not a racing fan per se, I've never really watched or followed it, but I can understand the intensity and the the draw. We don't get a lot of that because we're not experiencing much of the actual racing seeing as neither Natalia nor Klaus are driving, it almost reads as a behind-the-scenes look.
There is also the fact that each chapter reads like a vignette as we follow the racing season from country to country. Most every chapter picks up weeks or months after the previous. Only a few are actually sequential with one another. Because of this, I often felt like I was playing catch up. From one chapter to the next we could be thrown into the middle of something or come in at the tale end of something else with only vague references of what went down. It was slightly disorienting having to double check and make sure I didn't gloss over something or accidentally skip ahead somehow.
Full disclosure, and in all fairness, I did not read the first book and that's on me of course. It did feel very much like we were getting the other half of a story in certain instances. I wasn't so lost that I had no clue, but the little things that you're not aware of adds up and it dampened the reading experience. I feel like this also doesn't give it a chance to build any depth between the real issues that are between Klaus and Natalia. This only really comes to any kind of meaningful thread close to the end, in which case we run into a too-little-too-late scenario for me.
I'm not saying that I won't read another book in this series, at the very least I would like to go back and properly pick up the first book to fill in some of the blanks. I would also be interested to see what the next book tackles.
Listening to the audiobook was interesting. I liked the dual narration. I don't know if the narrators got the memo about how each of the characters are supposed to sound because I felt like, with the female narrator, Klaus's German accent came across like very thick. Then the male narrator, who is supposed to be Klaus, who is German, didn't utilize that accent as strongly. So there's a bit of opposition there. I did enjoy Klaus's sections. I wish we had gotten more. The story is mainly told from Natalia's point of view. I just think that he had a really interesting side of the story for himself and I wish that it was explored a little bit further from his perspective, especially because we find out some things that he's keeping from Natalia the aforementioned secrets that I think would have been had more of an impact if we had a little bit more from his side of the story before we understood exactly what the consequences were.

This was neither a good nor a bad book. There were times that I enjoyed it and others where I really really did not. I’ve recently discovered that F1 romances aren’t for me, but I was hoping something with older characters and focusing on roles outside of the drivers would be better - but that would only work if the characters actually acted their age. It’s really hard to believe that Talia is 35/36 and Klaus is 45/46 throughout the book when you hear some of their exchanges.
I liked that this story was set across a decent stretch of time, but I’m also annoyed about this, as it felt like we missed a lot of stuff happening. One chapter would end and the next would be a couple of weeks later and we’d just be told that something had happened or been resolved without us getting to see any of it. And with these time skips we got new locations, obviously following the race calendar, but we never really get to see any of these places or get much of a description.
2.5⭐️
I would recommend listening to the audio of this if you can, as the two narrators did a really good of bringing the story and characters to life. I actually didn’t realise this was dual POV, so hearing Klaus’ character being voiced too was really fun.
I think this is a case of the book just not being for me. I’m sure if you enjoy F1 romances, you’ll enjoy this too! (Though there is a trope that I know many people don’t enjoy, so that might be worth looking up)
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced audio copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I loved the first book in the series (Double Apex) so I was so excited to read this one! It has some of my favourite tropes; age gap, forbidden romance, and workplace romance. But it fell flat, and it seemed really off and not fleshed out at all. I’m usually a huge fan of lots of smut, but the author needs to establish the pining and yearning first for the satisfaction of the characters coming together 😉. There is smut in the first chapter, I was listening to the audio book and had to check to make sure that I didn’t miss a chapter or something… but nope, it’s starts off like that. I felt that the characters lacked a lot of depth, character development, connection between the characters, and any real plot. All the characters are red flags, the only thing that I really enjoyed was the trama that the FMC (Natalia) was able to deal with! I wish that the book did a better job at resolving it. The writing of this book did a lot of time jumps, so the book spans a few years and the main characters are very immature and are on and off the whole book. I was hoping for more F1 as well, the first book in the series did an excellent job at balancing both the F1 element and the romance.
I listened to the audiobook, and the accent didn’t seem fluid… I also felt that the male character’s voice would add an accent to the female voice when he would do it. But the female voice didn’t use/have an accent. It just really took me out of the story.
I also felt that accidental pregnancy needs to be listed as a trigger warning as someone that had a miscarriage this would have been a huge trigger for me two years ago.
