If you enjoyed Mistakes you Never Made this is a must read. It was so fun and clarifying to better understand Sybil’s past and the wedding weekend timeline.

With that said you definitely do NOT have to read book 1 to understand this book! It was a light hearted and stand alone read. I enjoyed both the story and the writer’s style.

Nothing extraordinary, but entertaining and impressive considering the author came to fame on reality tv.

I enjoyed the audiobook of The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain. It was an easy to listen to story, and the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life. While the book was enjoyable, it had a lot of issues that held it back from being truly great for me. First of all, the concept of the four engagement rings was a great idea-but I felt like it wasn't touched on enough to have this grand moment of clarity/progress at the end that it does. It didn't feel as important throughout the book as the ending (and title?!) made it seem. I also really liked the concept of the fake dating which brings on a second chance romance, but, once again, I feel like it was a bit sloppily executed. I think there were too many good ideas that weren't fleshed out enough to seamlessly go together or to make the book flow well. While I did feel like Sybil went through some growth in the book, the storyline really felt disjointed and choppy. I did like that the book dealt with some heavier topics, and I felt like it peeled back a layer on the character temporarily, but, once again, I felt like it wasn't executed in a way that made the book what it could have been.
All of that being said, I did enjoy the book, and feel like it would be a fun, easy vacation read. 3.75*

I received a copy of the audiobook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest and fair review.

The story follows Sybil Rain, a free spirit with three failed engagements under her belt. A year after her latest wedding was called off, she decides to cash in her honeymoon voucher for a solo trip to Hawaii. Naturally, fate intervenes, and she runs into Jamie, her former fiancé and the very man she was supposed to be honeymooning with. When she spots him with a new woman, Sybil impulsively invents a fake boyfriend to save face. The only catch? Sybil isn't actually looking for a new relationship, especially since she's not sure she's ever truly gotten over Jamie.
Through a series of increasingly awkward encounters, Sybil begins to wonder if Jamie might still harbor feelings for her too. Just as a potential reconnection seems to be on the horizon, another former fiancé, Seb, inconveniently appears, threatening to derail everything.
What made this book particularly engaging was its narrative structure, which seamlessly weaves between the present and flashbacks. This allowed for a deeper understanding of how Sybil's past relationships developed and ultimately unraveled. While I genuinely liked the book, there were moments when Sybil's choices — particularly around Seb's appearance — left me a little frustrated. I did feel it could have been slightly shorter, but that might just be my impatience for Sybil and Jamie to figure things out!
Overall, I highly recommend this for a fun and engaging summer escape. I listened to the audiobook, and the voice actors were absolutely excellent!

Loved, loved, loved this.
I read the first book by Hannah brown, so I knew I had to read the second one. It wasn’t disappointing at all.
The setting was in Hawaii, which was so cool to read about. The descriptions made me feel like I was there with Sybil.
I relayed to the main character Sybil so much. She is one of my favorite characters I have read about.

This book was cute started off a bit annoying but I grew to love it.

What if you just got a second chance at love would you take it?

3.5🌟 Another great summer read! I enjoyed this book and found myself wishing I could pick it up while I was doing grown up things throughout the day.

This book follows Sybil Rain, a three times engaged, free spirit who decides to finally cash in her voucher for her honeymoon vacation in Hawaii a year after her wedding was called off. While there, she runs into Jamie, her former fiance and the man whom she was supposed to be honeymooning with. After noticing he seems to be with a new woman, she decides to make up a fake boyfriend to save face as well. The only problem is, Sybil doesn't want a new boyfriend because she's not sure she ever got over Jamie. After a few run ins that are more than awkward, Sybil starts to wonder if maybe Jamie doesn't feel the same way. Just as she thinks that maybe they may be reconnecting, another former fiance, Seb, shows up to save, err, spoil, the day.

This was an interesting book because it was told in the present, but also flipped back to the past on occasion so that you could see how her relationships both evolved and deteriorated. I really liked this book, although, sometimes I became frustrated with sybil and her choices. I could have stood for it to be a little shorter, but that might just be because I got frustrated when Seb showed up. All in all, I would definitely recommend this book for a fun summer read. I listed to the audiobook and the voice actors were excellent! Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

Perfect book to listen to on vacation! Sybil was refreshingly self-aware in her internal monologue (something I haven’t see a ton of in contemporary rom-coms). This book consistently kept my interest, and while there is a bit of miscommunication trope, I did not mind it, it seems quite necessary for the two main characters to go through it and later understand to bring them together in the end.

This is a swoony interconnected standalone perfect for lovers of Katherine Center. It is a second chance romance that takes place during coincidental vacations on an island where the main characters honeymoon was supposed to occur. If you love stories that are going to give you butterflies, make you swoon, perhaps even feel cheesy at times, and touches on larger topics like women struggling with PCOS you’re going to love this book.

This story is filled with odes to Hannah‘s experience not only with the bachelor franchise but also growing up; even if you have just casually watched the seasons of the bachelor and the bachelorette at the Hannah was a part of you will definitely catch these references. However, even if you are not a fan of the bachelor fan franchise, you can still enjoy this book.

Thank you Net Galley for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC of this book!

I went into this book not really knowing what to expect, as I had not read or listened to any of Hannah Brown's other books prior to listening to this one. I was happily surprised with how much I enjoyed this book! The narrator, Cherami Leigh, did a great job with bringing Sybil's personality to life. Initially, I could find myself getting frustrating with Sybil's choices and mildly annoyed with her lackadaisical personality. However, as the book went on and her past was coming to light, I was able to understand her choices, even if I didn't always agree with them. It almost felt like I was in Jamie's position as the read, getting to learn and forgive Sybil with him. I enjoyed the premise of the flashbacks coming in as "first ring", "second ring", etc., as it was a cool way to learn more about her past and delve into more of the serious topics from her past that were highly important for her present.

I am a sucker for a second chance romance trope and a tropical romance trope and I did enjoy that the book brought Forgetting Sarah Marshall vibes. The only thing that I was left wanting was a bit more of the backstory with Jamie and Sybil, and more moments with Jamie at the hotel in general. I loved when they had the run ins, however I almost wanted more and to get a little bit deeper into their connection.

Another thing I really enjoyed about this book was the connection of Sybil's friendships in her story. Even though the friends are mostly not present with Sybil in her adventure, I love that they were a big part of her journey.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this listen/read and believe it's a great quick and easy summer beach read going into this summer.

I want to thank Netgalley & Forever for an ALC & E-Galley in exchange for an honest review!

This book was so cozy and fun, and it felt like one of my favorite rom-coms playing out in front of me. The audiobook was narrated well, the narrator had a lot of emotion and made the story resonate with me a lot more.

Usually the miscommunication trope is something I really despise but without it I feel like Sybil really needed to grow a bit before accepting love with open arms. I liked the concept and the setting and that all her exes showed up on the beach where she really was just planning on getting away from it all and it was a really really fun romcom for summertime!

Hello friends! I just recently finished The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown. It is a fun and heartfelt listen that surprised me in the best way. Even though this is book two in the series, you can jump right in without reading the first one. This was my first book by Hannah Brown, but it definitely won’t be my last.

Like the title suggests, The story follows Sybil, who finds herself on what should have been her honeymoon, only she’s alone and reflecting on her past. She shares the stories behind her four engagement rings, each one coming with its own set of laughs, lessons, and a little bit of heartbreak. Things get even more interesting when Sybil runs into two of her ex-fiancés on her trip. I loved the drama and awkward moments, and it kept me guessing if she was really over them or if there was still something there.

Sybil is super relatable and a funny narrator. I really enjoyed how honest she was about the mistakes she made along the way and her hopes and dreams. Her journey made me think about how life doesn’t always go as planned, but sometimes that’s what helps you figure out what you truly want. The audiobook brought her story to life and made it easy to connect with her feelings and choices.

Overall, this book is a great pick if you like stories about love, second chances, and finding yourself. It’s light, entertaining, and has just the right amount of heart. I’m glad I gave it a try and can’t wait to see what Hannah Brown writes next.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a book you won't be able to put down, so grab those earbuds and listen to this great story that blends humor, real-life messiness, and a dash of romance. In all, this book gets four stars from me, my friends! If you’re looking for a story that will make you laugh and root for the main character, give this one a try when it's released on June 24th, 2025.

Having enjoyed her first book, I was eager to see if the sequel lived up to expectations—and it absolutely did. The romance at the center of the novel is particularly compelling because it embraces the idea that love isn’t always smooth sailing. Instead of the picture perfect fairy tale, Brown presents a relationship full of ups and downs, making the story feel more authentic and relatable.

The Four Engagements of Sybil Rain
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book started off well and promising, but unfortunately around the time that ex-fiancé #2 entered the story, it started to lose me. It went from Forgetting Sarah Marshall (except with a second chance romance) quickly to a Ghosts of Fiancés Past and then we got a bunch of different mini stories that probably could have each been flushed out into their own stories. I was a little confused with the final chapter being at the end too, after the book had seemingly finished to go back to the beginning was a bit disconjointed.
The audio took me awhile to get into as I found the narrator voiced it a bit too saccharine and there was a bit of “over-acting”. I did get used to her style eventually and it didn’t end up being something that swayed my feelings on the writing or plot.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain was a perfect light read! In a series of unfortunate events; that made you feel a little second hand embarrassment for Sybil, this story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions! It was a light romance, with a little spice in the third act.

The narrator did an excellent job with a single pov story! She especially excelled at the dramatics of Sybil!

Thank you @Netgalley & @HachetteAudio for sending me the advanced audio book of this book!

As Sybil Rain approaches what would’ve been her one-year wedding anniversary, she decides to put her unused honeymoon hotel vouchers to good use and heads off—solo—to the stunning Starling Ranch Inn in Maui. What’s supposed to be a relaxing escape quickly turns chaotic when her ex-fiancé Jamie shows up…with a new woman in tow. In a flustered attempt to save face, Sybil claims she’s there with her boyfriend. Cue Sebastian—another former fiancé—who happens to arrive on the island and is more than happy to play along. Toss in tropical cocktails, awkward run-ins, and a bit of emotional reckoning, and you’ve got a vacation Sybil (and the reader) won’t soon forget.

I had so much fun with this story. The Maui setting delivers exactly the kind of warm, breezy escapism I love, and the island vibe—from snorkelling adventures to spa visits and beachside parties—truly transported me. Sybil is such a dynamic character, and it was satisfying to see her take this unexpected journey not just with her exes, but with herself. Over the course of the novel, we get to see her reflect on the choices she’s made and the reasons behind her failed engagements—especially the one she doesn’t talk about. Watching her come into her own was one of the best parts of the book.

The Narration:

I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by Cherami Leigh, who was an excellent match for Sybil’s vibrant, free-spirited personality. Her lively performance added a fun and heartfelt energy to the story. The touches of Hawaiian music at the beginning and end were a lovely bonus, and I always appreciate when those kinds of atmospheric details are woven in.

Final Thoughts:

If you’re in the mood for a sun-soaked romantic comedy with heart, humour, and a heroine worth rooting for, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a delightful pick.

I received an ARC of this audiobook from the publisher but the thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.

3 stars. this just wasn't for me. I liked elements but I found myself endlessly annoyed with the heroine - why could she never communicate with anyone? It was not a bad book but definitely for a particular audience - great for someone mid 20s at the beach. I think they would love it, especially if they're familiar with the author.
Narrator's voice was very high for me but also suited the character and the acting was quite good.

I love Hannah Brown books. Her latest, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain was a five star listen for me. Pick this one up on publication day.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is about a woman named Sybil Rain and, like the title says, her four engagements. Sybil seems to have the worst luck when it comes to the wedding after the engagement. With the encouragement from her girlfriends, she decides to take the honeymoon trip from her last failed engagement by herself. Imagine her surprise when her ex-fiance just so happens to be on a business trip to Maui at the same time. The reader relives her past engagements throughout the book, which gives us a better understanding of how Sybil ended up with her failed engagements. The story is beautifully written (thank you, Hannah Brown), and the narration is fun with narrator Cherami Leigh bringing Sybil to life as the quirky person she is.

🌺 4.5/5 – A Hot Mess in the Best Way Possible! 🎧📚

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown is the perfect summer vacation read—think Forgetting Sarah Marshall meets Anyone But You with Bachelor Nation flair. Whether you're poolside, oceanside, or just pretending with your feet in a kiddie pool, this one will transport you straight to a Hawaiian resort complete with dune buggies, snorkeling, and even a little horseback romance! As a Bachelor/Bachelorette superfan, I couldn’t help but see hints of Hannah Brown’s own journey woven into the story—and it made me love it even more! 🎤🌹

This book had me hooked from the first page. Sybil is an absolute delight—fun-loving, social-media-savvy, and an unapologetic hot mess in the best, most relatable way. You’d think a character like that could come off as shallow, but Sybil’s backstory and emotional depth totally surprised me and made her feel real and grounded. 💖

The dual timeline format added a refreshing twist to the second-chance romance plot. Nothing about this book felt cookie-cutter. In fact, it felt wildly original and even a little chaotic—in a good way. Bonus points for not glossing over the flaws of its characters. They grow, and it’s satisfying to watch unfold.

The audiobook was also a great way to experience it—though heads up: the flashbacks can be a little tricky to follow in audio format at first, but you catch on fast. Totally worth the listen! 🎧

Last, it's not as important, but it is... I loved seeing the nod at the end of the audiobook to the ghostwriter, Emily Larrabee. Ghostwriting is such an unspoken but normal part of publishing, but it's so rarely discussed or acknowledged. Love the honest representation!

Big thanks to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Hannah Brown for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. If you’re looking for your next summer romcom—funny, heartfelt, beachy, and just a little bit messy—this is it. 🏖️💍✨

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, Forever and Hannah Brown for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

It is VERY much giving Forgetting Sarah Marshall (as promised in the blurbs) and while I haven't seen Anyone But You (as also promised from the blurbs)- I can see it. And I like it. I enjoyed this story very much. Sybil is one of those characters that is just doing her ding dang best with what she has. There is much character growth from Sybil AND Jamie, separately- and I think that's a really good lesson and theme.

I have not yet read Hannah's first book, Mistakes We Never Made, but it does some like these two are interconnected standalones so I think I would enjoy going back to read it.

This is the first book I've ever read that a ghostwriter (perhaps) has a heavy (that's the perhaps part) hand in... and WE KNOW IT! It's acknowledged! The ghostwriter is mentioned on the title page and in the audio book. As a voracious reader that consumes a lot of art- and attends MANY author events as HUGE FANGIRL- I could give a 60 minute TED talk on my internal conflicts with non-memoir ghostwriting. How many times have I given praise to the non-artist? How many times have I been fooled? Finally reading Hannah's book has taught me I need to go watch some of her interviews (Literary Hype Woman's to start..) and hear more about her process with her ghostwriter and open my mind to varying partnerships.

Narration was incredibly well done!
