This tells the path of Sybil’s life and it was the perfect way to lay out the book! The audiobook is great and I loved the setting of Maui, the meddling friends, and growth that happened! Thank you Hachette audio for

I have followed Hannah Browns life/ career ever since her Bachelor to Bachelorette days, and enjoyed her first romance novel so I was excited to be sent an arc widget for The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain! I was also gifted an alc (advanced listening copy).

We met Sybil in Hannah’s first romance novel, Mistakes We Never Made, and I was intrigued by her character in MWNM and hoped we’d get more books from this quad of best friends!

There was so much tension and rawness between Sybil and Jamie, and we got to see the growth of the characters since MWNM, within this book, and also via Sybil’s memories and recounting of past points in her romantic history. I thought some of Sybil’s personal growth “aha” moments were a little too easy to be real life, but maybe some people really do change how they see themselves faster than it works for me!

Audio specific review: the narrator is Cherami Leigh and this is the first book I’ve listened to her read. I started off listening to the book at 1.0 speed and very quickly found the uptalk/ inflection at the end of sentences and almost overselling each sentence difficult to listen to. That being said, Sybil is an LA woman, and the narration reminded me a bit of pretending to be “valley girls” as kids - so perhaps she nailed the speech pattern in Los Angelos?! I listened to most of the book on 1.5 speed, while alternating with eyeball reading the ebook. At 1.5 speed the narration was great!

The narrator did a great job distinguishing speakers from Sybil’s internal thoughts and I had no difficulties following who was speaking and what was happening in the story. I’d definitely listen to a story read by Cherami again!

Overall the book was 4.5 stars rounded up! It is in my opinion a perfect easy summer romance.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC opportunity!

I really enjoyed this. It gave me early 2000s romcom vibes. I also really liked the characters. Syb had her flaws but you could tell alot of it stemmed from deep trauma. As a woman with PCOS, i really liked the highlighting of it in this book and the reality that so many women face and how it can affect us and cause deep wounds.

My only complaint is i wish the communication had been better at first BUT that wouldve defeated the point of the story.

This was far better than Hannah’s first book.

I loved this book. I personally didn’t love the narrator. I don’t know if it was because I normally listen to them faster than 1.0 but when going faster her voice becomes extremely high pitched and screechy.

The overall book was amazing though so I will still give it 4 stars but the personality that was portrayed in Sybil to me didn’t represent the voice the narrator gave.

Thank you so much to Hatchette Audio for the ALC of this book and for Netgalley for the opportunity.

I really enjoyed this and it was a great story of second chance love. However Sybil really annoyed me until almost the very end where she actually showed some character development

I LOVE this narrator!! She was so fun to listen to and kept my attention the whole time.
I loved this story, it's like The Seven Husband's of Evelyn Hugo & Mama Mia had a baby. So, it's easy to say that I was hooked from the beginning.

Thank you, Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the ALC.

For fans of Runaway Bride or Forgetting Sarah Marshall, this is a fun / easy summer listen. A tropical paradise meant for her honeymoon; Sybil finds herself cashing in on the vouchers used after not marrying Jamie a year prior. The last thing she expected was that Jamie, her would-be-husband, was also at Starling Ranch. With three failed attempts to walk down the aisle, the past men of Sybil's life seem unravel in this second-chance romance.

📖 Book Title: The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain
Author: Hannah Brown
Tropes: Second Chance Romance, Runaway Bride, Self-Discovery, Found Family
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice Level: 🌶️ (Minimal spice, more emotional depth)

🤩 The Vibe:
This isn’t your average rom-com—it’s a reflective, emotional journey through one woman’s past engagements as she comes to terms with who she really is and what love truly means. The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain blends humor with heartbreak as it rewinds through Sybil’s tangled romantic history and lands on a second chance that just might stick.

👩‍❤️‍👨 Main Characters:
Sybil Rain: A complicated, big-hearted woman who’s been engaged four times and is finally ready to confront why none of them worked—and what she actually wants.
Jamie: The one who might’ve been “the one” all along. Kind, patient, and quietly supportive, he brings the grounding presence Sybil didn’t know she needed. While Liam was too controlling, and Seb was too wild, Jamie was the just right combination that really highlighted Sybil.

💕 What I Loved:
• The unique structure—flashing back through each engagement—felt fresh and gave real insight into Sybil’s growth.
• Emotional depth—this isn’t just about romance, but about self-worth, grief, and finding peace.
• Jamie. Just… Jamie. A soft, steady second chance who believes in Sybil even when she doesn’t.
• The tie-in to Mistakes We Never Made added rich layers and payoff for returning readers.
• The character growth for not only Sybil but Jamie as well. They both grew into themselves over the year they were apart showcasing that it wasn’t just one person who needed to change to make it work, but both.

🚫 What Didn’t Work For Me:
• While there are light moments, the tone is more reflective than laugh-out-loud—those expecting full rom-com vibes might be surprised.

💭 Final Thoughts:
The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a beautifully told story about the many ways love can shape us—and how sometimes the most important relationship is the one we build with ourselves. It’s poignant, healing, and quietly romantic. A must-read for fans of introspective second chances and emotional storytelling. If you’re a fan of Katherine Center you will LOVE this book!

🎧 Audiobook Note:
I listened to this one on audio and absolutely loved the narrator. Her delivery was engaging, her character voices distinct, and you could truly feel the emotion in every scene. It made the experience even more immersive and heartfelt. Highly recommend the audio format if that’s your thing!

3.5 rounded up!

Sybil, I am DIZZY from the circles we were running while you worked through your feelings. You need therapy, gf, not a woo woo energy healer.

I think we experienced the run-around a few more times than necessary, but I did find myself really wanting to pick this up and continue listening to the audiobook whenever I could. I ultimately loved how Sybil and Jamie's (and Sebastian's) story played out, even though the basis was on a big miscommunication (one of my least favorite tropes), this was done in a way that actually made sense for it to be a miscommunication. Again, therapy would be great for Sybil.

I did not read Mistakes We Never Made before this, and it definitely works as a standalone and I look forward to going back to read that one!

This book has exceeded my expectations. I thought this just gonna be another romcom but I was so wrong. Yes, it still had that romcom vibe but with so much depth, complex relationships and characters. I loved how we get a main character who was both so lovable and flawed, and knowing that she is flawed. Sybil's character and struggles all felt so real.

This book isn't just a love story, but also about healing, finding oneself, and friendship.

Thank you NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Author Hannah Brown for this ARC opportunity.

In the era of beach reads, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain definitely scratched the itch. As a lover of everything romcoms (and especially Forgetting Sarah Marshall) this book fit was exactly what I was looking for.

While I did enjoy the book overall, I will say I didn't love Sybil as a character, she just wasn't my vibe unfortunately. Albeit she was a bit self-involved, she was also relatable and fun and she fit well with the narrative. I really enjoyed the setting as well, as a big Hawaii girly- I felt transported!

The plot itself was an intriguing concept, which is what led me to the book in the first place and even though it is a a romantic comedy, it did have an emotional centre that I wasn't super expecting.

As far as tropes go this one leaned heavy into the miscommunication, self discovery and second chance vibes.

So, I actually started this book by reading it, but after listening to the audiobook for a few minutes in the car I was hooked on the audio and completely switched over. The narrator totally changed the experience of the book for me. Her narration style was great and engaging and really easy to listen to. I very seldom prefer the audio to physically reading but I really enjoyed listening to this.

This was a fun summer, beach read! Thank you for the arc!

I love a messy, quirky FMC, as I live my rule following ways vicariously through Sybil! Loved the narrator as well.

Wow!! I am so impressed. I was nervous about this book because I did not love Mistakes We Never Made. I felt it had a great premise but fell flat. But this one ... Fantastic!! Such a great story and it was told beautifully. I loved our main character and how quirky she was. They vulnerability that she showed and the crazy situations she was in.

Pacing of this book was great. There was no lulls and kept me interested the entire book. Great writing and great story. I hope to read more that Hannah writes because this was a knock out of the park for me!

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book! Such a cute love story with unexpected charm and delightful characters. I would love to see this duo of books turn into a four book series, so each of the Core Four could get their own story.
Sybil's journey is fun, emotional, and full circle in so many ways. The story is a forced proximity (in a way) plus a second chance love story, set in a tropical paradise with celestial influences.

3.5 stars

I didn't realize until finishing this book that it's a sequel to Mistakes We Never Made (which I don't remember anything about) but thankfully this works as a standalone too!

It follows Sybil Rain who has been engaged three times but never married. Sybil uses her soon to expire flight vouchers to go to Hawaii where her last honeymoon was supposed to be, and of course her ex-fiancé is at the same resort.

This was so much deeper than just a romance, with therapy rep, PCOS, trauma, fake dating and second chances.

Sybil felt very unrelatable early on in the book but as more of her past came out I really liked and understood her. The audiobook was well done and this was a quick and entertaining read!

Thanks to NetGalley & Hachette Audio for an advance copy!

ARC and ALC review

Sybil's friends convince her to use the already paid vacation that was suppose to be her honeymoon.
What she doesn't expect is that Jamie, her ex fiancé, is there too.

Thank you Forever for the advance review copy and Hachette Audio for the ALC (via Netgalley).
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

What you can expect:
- second chance romance
- single POV/dual timeline
- fake dating
- romantic comedy
- PCOS representation

This book has the vibes of a rom-com, but it is more complex.
Sybil's character has a great development and the engagement rings have a deeper meaning.
She went through a toxic relationship that left her with trauma and insecurities.
This book is more about her journey of self discovery and I liked that there were flashbacks that explain why the previous relationships did not work.
The only thing that I did not like was the miscommunication.

The audiobook is narrated by Cherami Leigh, that did a very good job portraying Sybil, her personality and her feelings.
Her voice was nice and made imerse in the story.

Overall this was a good read and I would recomand the book.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown

This was a fun listen! Sybil Rain is a hot mess with lots of love to give. She flys to her honey moon solo only to run into her ex fiancé. The story follows her previous engagements. If you enjoy fake dating and second chance romance tropes you will enjoy this one

The narrator did such an amazing job at bringing this story to life
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is like sipping a mai tai with a splash of chaos fun, dramatic, and just the right amount of ridiculous. Sybil is a hot mess in the best way, jetting off to Hawaii solo with unused honeymoon vouchers only to run straight into her ex fiancé Jamie… and then another ex… and then another. Yeah. It’s a full blown ex-fiancé reunion and I was living for the mess.

There’s fake dating, a tangerine bikini moment, and enough romantic tension to steam up those infinity pool scenes. Sybil juggling exes while trying to protect her ego is hilarious, but it also has heart especially when her mysterious first fiancé Liam is finally brought into the picture.

Sometimes the drama felt a little over the top, but that’s kind of the point. This is beach read energy with a side of emotional reckoning, and the balance mostly holds. Sybil’s growth and vulnerability by the end sealed the deal for me. If you’re in the mood for something breezy, chaotic, and full of second (and third and fourth) chances, this one delivers.

Thank you so much to NetGalley & Forever for the eARC (ALC). I both read and listened to this.
3.5/5. Sybil has been through it - multiple engagements & was hoping the third time was the charm but no such luck. When she ends up in Hawaii at the same resort as two of her ex-fiancés, she is able to revisit old feelings with fresh eyes, and a better perspective.

In the beginning I felt that I didn’t relate to Sybil much, until we learned more about her past and events that led to some of the decisions she made. Loved our MMC Jamie - he seemed like a stand up guy. And no offense but I would have broke off the wedding if I was him too !

I really enjoyed the dual timelines - of getting to know Sybil’s past and seeing where the journey takes her in the present! It was cheesy at time, but overall it worked! Would recommend for those looking for a cute beach read, second chance romance & who like dual timelines.

I thought the narrator did a wonderful job, and honestly a perfect interpretation of Sybil based on what we know of her personality !
