This book frustrates me endlessly. A promising premise that I was excited to read ultimately fell short due to a series of miscommunications and inadequate mental health resources. Having the main character have a life coach, whom she tracks down and follows, is not only problematic but odd. Sybil Rain was a main character who just did not keep my attention. I did not like any of the characters, and this book just made me mad. The characters acted far too young for their age! Like, y'all are almost 30 and we're acting like this? Also, some parts of this book just took me out (specifically Nikki's character from "Loveby" going back into the franchise - very self - inserty). I wish we spent more time really understanding more of why Sybil felt like she had to run away all the time, but it feels like its's explanation is in one chapter. The narrator did a good job and really immersed you in the book; it was the plot itself that was struggling. The writing style is good, but the plot lacks.

This was a decent book. A lot of the issues could have worked out by the two protagonists just talked to each other. Sybil was a chaotic mess and Jamie was just perfect for her. The setting was great, I love Hawaii. And Sybils friends perfect.
I listened to the audiobook and was ungot not impressed with the narrator.

As the second installment in this friendship series, I did enjoy it more than the first. I found the main character a lot more likable. I thought the story line was fun and light. Just what I needed out of a summer read.

This was a cute, quick read! I genuinely liked this so much better than book #1 in the series. Read this if you're wanting a cute summer read. I liked the tie-in to the first book, and really loved Sybil as a FMC. I'm hoping Nikki will be book number 3. I did a hybrid of reading and listening. I really liked the narrator's voice and it kept me engaged. Thank you Hachette Audio and Hannah Brown for the audio in exchange for my honest review.

If you like guilty pleasures, this will scratch the itch. FMC Sybil’s personality channels Hannah Brown (yes that one, the former bachelorette): bubbly + warm, impetuous + outspoken, and a bit of a train wreck 😝. Totally predicable, it feels familiar, like it’s been done before — a solid feel good romance/beach read.

Thanks @hachetteaudio for an ALC!
A hilariously chaotic romp through tropical heartbreak and healing, Sybil Rain’s accidental ex-fiancé reunion had me laughing, cringing, and swooning in equal measure. This story is part beach read, part emotional reckoning, and 100% delightful. If you’ve ever wanted to fake-date your ex to outshine your other ex, this one’s for you. Cherami Lee really delivered with the narration on this one.

loved the PCOS representation! I struggled with convincing due to PCOS so I could connect with Sybil. the narrator was fantastic. the overall book was very cute. I just wanted the MMC and FMC to actually communicate their feelings. This was the 1st book of Hannah's I've read and I look forward to reading more.

I enjoyed this book in the way that I enjoy a romcom… I didn’t expect for it t9 be perfect, but I wanted to have fun and feel something. I feel like this book delivered on that. The Hawaiian setting was fantastic, the side characters added a ton, and I liked that the story was woven between the present and past of Sybil’s love stories. Sybil was flawed and if you dislike that or miscommunication tropes this may not be the book for you. If you like second chances, learning, and real humans with flaws give this one a chance.
I unfortunately do think at time the writing could be better, but I overall enjoyed this read.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the audiobook. The narrator was wonderful.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ARC
The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain was fantastic bittersweet novel. It maybe the best example of a second chance romance I've read recently! It mixed a fake dating trope with a second chance trope set at exotic Hawaii.
Sybil has been engaged four times but the last engagement to Jamie is the one that hurts the most. When she escapes to Hawaii to mend her broken heart on what would be her honeymoon she did not expect to see Jamie there with his beautiful colleague. To save face she says she's vacationing with her new boyfriend. Later she runs into Sebastian, her second ex-fiancee whom she convinces to play her fake boyfriend. Jamie gets jealous but Sybil also reminiscent to how easy and fun things were with Sebastian. To ex lovers, a tropical paradise and a girl who needs to unravel her past to finally make a choice.
The book was beautifully written and I had a really hard time choosing who I wanted Sybil to end up with. Both candidates were great, but in the end one stood out more than the other. Furthermore I appreciated Sybil's character growth and all the fun things that happened during the novel. It immediately made me want to pick up Hannah Brown's first book!

A big thanks to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for this ARC.
I’ll start off by saying that I’m giving this book a solid 4/5. It is quirky, funny, and at the end of the day, you get the romance you’ve been waiting for.
What I appreciated about the book was that both main characters, Sybil and Jamie, undergo development and growth instead of having a story that just throws past lovers together despite their history. I enjoyed watching Sybil grow and learning and herself along the way, along with understanding the deeper reasons as to why she built up the walls around herself that she did. We get to see her journey where she reconciles her path as she’s faced with not one, but two men of previous engagement.
I think this is the perfect summer romance or beach read to get swept away in.

Being that I watched Hannah Browns season of the bachelorette I LOVED being able to see characters in her mind come to life !
In the second book of essentially a stand alone series we get to explore Sybil Rains love story , or is it the lack there of ? It was great getting to experience the core 4 again from each of their unique POVS they offer the main character through her journey reflecting on her various engagements.
You know a book is good when even your husband is following … and he’s he was indeed invested. Looking forward to hearing the other girls stories and what Hannah cooks up for us next!

I really enjoyed Hannah Brown's Debut "Mistakes We Never Made" earlier this year and was thrilled to get the opportunity to listen to this newest book of hers! I did really enjoy the storyline but for some reason I could not stand the FMC, her and I would not be friends in real life. I'm happy she was able to grow and have this journey, but her communication skills are THE WORST, and it frustrated me to no end. I can't wait to see what else Hannah Brown has in store!

Soooo… she’s a liar
Tropes:
Runaway Bride
Forced Proximity
Fake Boyfriend
To be proposed to 4 times is wild. To runaway the fourth time… girl leave these men alone.
I found it very hard to root for the FMC as she is just a liar and continues to tell half truths throughout the book. This read very much manic behavior and self absorbed. “Everyone loves Sybil”.
I will never understand the fake boyfriend trope to save face. I get it a plot device the leads to all of shenanigans buts the trope just isn’t for me.
I will say I listen and read the physical boo. Thank the audio because without it I probably would have DNF it.
Most would have gotten excited about the intro of the first fiancée but I got annoyed after all the build up James. This just wasn’t for me.

Overall, this was a fun book! I enjoyed all the fun and surprises that Sybil came across. However it felt like almost too much was going on, and the author just kept adding things on.

Thank you to Net Galley, Hannah Brown & the publisher for this early audio copy of the book. I absolutely adored this book. Sybil was such a fun and complex character and I loved learning about her story and all her various past relationships and how they shaped her into who she was. I always love a good second chance romance and I was eating this one up! I loved watching her and Jamie come back together! The summer vibes in this were immaculate, I now want to go book a Hawaiian vacation ASAP. Could not recommend this more.

This was super cute! At first I wasn’t sure of the narrator but she grew on me and I liked the audio a lot!! It was a sweet romance story and I loved the flashbacks. I don’t feel like I have too much to say, it was a romcom, it was very well done, and I loved it!

A fun, if a bit chaotic, summer beach read.
*Second chance romance
*Forced proximity
*Fake Dating
*Dual Timeline (I'm a big fan)
I'm not sure how I feel about the narration. There was just something about the tone that didn't sit quite right with me. However, I enjoyed the book. Definitely a personal preference issue and not a performance issue on the narrator's part.

I absolutely devoured this book. The narrator was fantastic as well. I really enjoyed reading about Sybil and listening from her point of view. Huge props with the PCOS representation and the challenges that come with it. So many women will be able to relate to Sybil’s struggle. I loved how we went back and forth between past and present, and Sybil’s ability to grow and evolve through her different eras. Will definitely be recommending to all my friends!

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain
By: Hannah Brown
- FMC goes on a solo trip only to run into 2 of her 3 ex-fiancés
- second chance romance
- fake dating
- strong friend group
- self discovery + healing
This book was so cute & the plot was original! Sybil Rain has been engaged 3 times so she goes on a solo trip to rediscover herself & heal (& for a work project). While on her trip, she first runs into Jamie, her most recent ex-fiancé. Then, just as Sybil begins to question her feelings for Jamie, she runs into her second ex-fiancé, Sebastian. Will she fall for one of these men or find someone new?
The narrator was great and added personality to the characters!
Content/trigger warnings: grief, loss of a parent, broken engagements, miscarriage, PCOS/endometriosis, difficult family dynamics
Thank you to NetGalley & the author for access to this ARC in return for my honest review!

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain was a fun listen! I didn't realize that this book was a sequel (loosely) when I requested the ALC, but I don't think I missed anything by jumping in at book two. Sybil is a total free spirit that deserves all the love and more. Learning about her relationships with Jamie and Sebastian helped create a full picture of who Sybil is and how she has grown throughout her relationships. I went from rooting for her to be in one relationship to the other as I learned more about everything she went to and who would be the best fit for her needs. I do wish that there had been some component of Sybil getting some real help. I think she needed therapy to try to unpack some of her past traumas, especially with her first real high school relationship. As someone who was in a similarly controlling relationship as a teenager, I know I personally needed to work through everything that happened with a professional before I was able to have a healthy relationship with my now husband. But regardless, I was happy to see that she was able to move on from her past and become a happy, successful adult.
Cherami Leigh was the perfect narrator for this story. Something about her voice is just the perfect whimsical sound for the free spirit that is Sybil.
Thank you to Hannah Brown, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for a copy of the audiobook!
