Overall, I did enjoy this story. It was pleasant to listen to and included some meaningful elements. However, I didn’t love it. I found myself wishing the plot had focused more on Sybil’s personal journey, rather than centering so heavily on the men in her life.
I really wanted to see more of Sybil’s character growth. It felt like much of that development had already happened before the book even started, and I would have loved to experience that journey with her. The few growth-related plot points that were discussed came very late in the story and felt rushed, as if they were added in as an afterthought with an “oh hey, by the way” tone, especially with them happening before the story even happened. Introducing those elements earlier could have given them far more emotional impact.
Her relationship with Jamie, in particular, felt premature. I think their physical connection happened too soon, before Jamie had shown enough emotional growth or commitment. As it is, I honestly don’t see them lasting as a couple.
That said, I really appreciated the inclusion of endometriosis and infertility representation. It’s an important and rarely addressed topic. The emotional weight of possibly not being able to have children was especially moving and something I could personally relate to.
Spice level: Mild
Story: Interesting
Character Growth: Medium
Plot Progression: Ok
Writing Style: Entertaining but a little too descriptive at times, unnecessarily.

This was an interesting story and definitely not what I expected based on the title. That being said, I really enjoyed it. I was definitely expecting a fake relationship to save face with her ex-fiancé that turned into a new engagement but I liked that this was different and she ends up back with her ex. Definitely my new favorite version of a second chance romance.
My only issue is that there were no potential TW listed at the beginning. As someone who struggled with infertility and then pregnancy loss, I appreciate when there's a warning at the beginning so I know to be prepared.
The narrator was wonderful and did a great job of bringing life to Sybil's character.

idn’t know what to expect going into The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain because this was my first read by Hannah Brown, but I absolutely loved it! I adored Sybil’s character and found her totally relatable and appreciated the juxtaposition between all of Sybil’s past fiancés. They were all so different, yet made sense for her at the time. I can’t wait to read more from Hannah going forward!

I've realized this is not the author for me, or the type of romance I prefer to read about as I thought this was cringey. If I wasn't listening to this on audiobook, I think I would have dnf'd this. Sybil was a very annoying and somewhat entitled main character to read about.

Thank you to Net Galley, Hannah Brown, and Hachette Audio for allowing me this audiobook arc for an honest review!

"The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain" by Hannah Brown
Okay, I am SMITTEN. This book was the romcom summer read my heart didn’t know it desperately needed. From the very first chapter, I was rooting so hard for Sybil—our sweet, chaotic, lovable heroine who really just wants to be loved in a way that feels safe, secure, and real. And wow, did Hannah Brown deliver on the emotional rollercoaster, the swoony moments, and the laugh-out-loud chaos.
Let’s talk tropes, because Hannah gave us ALL the good ones:
💍 We’re-never-getting-back-together (but totally do) — check.
👰♀️ Runaway bride — YES and so perfectly done.
🎭 Fake dating — deliciously awkward and charming.
🏖️ Forced proximity on a honeymoon-for-one — um, yes please.
I mean…come on. How could I not fall in love?
Sybil’s journey was such a beautiful one to watch unfold. Her anxiety, her past with a toxic ex (ugh, Liam, good riddance), her complicated relationship with her family—it all felt so raw and real. I felt younger me in her. That ache to be seen, to be understood, to be loved without conditions. And Hannah did an amazing job weaving in serious topics like anxiety, PCOS, and domestic violence with sensitivity and strength. Sybil advocating for herself (and her younger self!) had me absolutely beaming with pride. She did things backward—and honestly? Who cares! It was HER path. Watching her bloom was honestly inspiring.
Now let’s talk Jamie—Prince Charming with just enough stubbornness to make me want to shake him, but also swoon? Yep. Their chemistry was undeniable, but they just couldn’t see it at first, which made the payoff even better (thank you to book number two for answering my questions from book one!). And don’t even get me started on Seb. Golden retriever energy in human form. Just…chaotic good. We love him and what he did for Sybil.
The girl gang cheering Sybil on to go on the honeymoon? Iconic. True queens. The honeymoon setting itself? So vivid and picturesque I swear I could smell the ocean breeze and feel the sun on my skin. I want to go there, wherever that was, immediately.
On the flipside: Jamie’s family? BIG ICK. Except Grandma. Grandma was doing the Lord’s work. And Sybil’s parents…ugh. Dismissing her feelings, her mental health, her path? No thanks. But again, I’m SO proud of how she stood tall and found her voice.
And finally, a little love letter to Hannah Brown: I’ve been a fan since Bachelor Nation days, but seeing her shine as an author? She’s found her lane. Her books are heartfelt, fun, layered, and empowering. This isn’t just a cute romcom (though it totally is cute)—it’s a story with depth, with purpose, and with heart. And I’ll happily read everything she writes.
Can’t wait for the next one. 💖

The characters were shallow and lacked depth. There was a lot trauma and mess for one book. It just was not a favorite for me.
Thanks for the advanced audio copy!

This is a cute summer RomCom. I listened to this one and the narration is easy to follow. This is a great one to listen to while doing other things. The story itself is fun -- the running into your ex on vacation trope x 2.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced listener copy!

I loved this book!! I loved the personalities of each character and the whole arc that Sybil went on. I was rooting for her the whole time and I was actually very pleasantly surprised at the writing too. Would highly recommend!!

I didn’t know what I was expecting from this author, which may have been associated with her being a reality TV star, but I really really enjoyed this book. I thought Sybil had so much depth and the opportunity to reflect on her past and failed engagements with her was enjoyable and interesting. I think this audiobook narrator did a wonderful job of capturing all of the emotions that Sybil was going through and I would definitely recommend the audiobook.
My qualm with the book is that the resolution came very quickly and felt like more needed to happen on page. That being said, I had a great time. a solid four stars.
Thank you to NetGalley annd Hachette audio for this digital audiobook arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

It was a sweet story with unexpected depth and summer vibes.
I listened to the audiobook and I really enjoyed it. I loved the narrator and her voice, it truly made the experience better. She carried the story beautifully.
The story starts when Sybil decides to use the vouchers leftover from her wedding a year ago, a wedding that never happened. What's more perfect than a vacation in Hawaii. Except, her ex-fiancee Jamie is there too, with a female coworker. Trying to save face, Sybil lies she's there with her boyfriend. There's still things unresolved between them and when the situation starts to heat up, Seb enters the picture. Her second ex-fiancee, willing to pretend to be her fake boyfriend. Complications arise, wounds bleed anew, especially the ones her first fiancee left. With three rings from three different guys, will there be a fourth?
I really liked the story, full of vulnerability and self exploration. While there is miscommunication, which Itend to find incredibly frustrating, I do think, ultimately, it made sense. There needed to be growth first.
Second chance romances don't always work, but this one did. Sometimes being apart is the only way to grow together. Work on yourself to work on eachotehr.
The setting was absolutely beautiful, it gave me all the summer vibes. The beach, snorkeling, horseback riding, pool and cocktails and a summer storm..
I really liked the characters, both the main and the secondary ones. They all made the story compelling in their own way. Sybil's journey was heartbreaking, but hopeful. Her fight to heal the scars she carried and the fear that ruled her life, was slow, but important. I love how she found her strength and the love she deserves in the end.
I know Hannah from her season on the Bachelorette, but had no idea she was an author until recently. I really enjoyed her writing, I think she did an amazing job.
Thank you to Netgalley and to Hachette Audio for providing me with an ARC

First, the good news. The narrator was fantastic. I enjoyed her voices and tone. I would to listen to more by this narrator.
The story itself didn’t have enough depth. The characters were hard to connect with and the plot was wildly unrealistic. It was a nice enough story- I didn’t hate it, but it just felt like it needed to be something more. Funnier, more emotional, less predictable…I’m not sure what it needs, but it just wasn’t a book I would recommend as a must read or a memorable read. It was light-hearted and fun, perfect for a mindless beach read.

This wasn't my favorite book ever but I have only good things to say about the audiobook narration - it was great, and her voice felt very "Sybil". I thought the setting was delightful, but I wasn't that obsessed with Jamie (justice for Seb!!) and honestly felt they were a better fit.

I liked this a lot more than book 1. Sybil definitely has main character energy. Pacing was good, imagery was good, drama and outcome were good. Overall a solid read.

Rating: 3.5 starts
Read this if you like:
Runaway bride or second-chance-at-love tropes
Messy but lovable main characters
Audiobooks with engaging, expressive narration
I went into The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain without realizing it was the second book in a series. I haven’t read Mistakes We Never Made—the first book—but that turned out not to be an issue at all. This story stands on its own and was easy to follow, which I really appreciated.
The plot follows Sybil through a string of almost-weddings, and while the premise might sound a little wild, Hannah Brown gives it both humor and heart. The story explores identity, self-worth, and how we define love—wrapped in a chaotic but fun romantic journey.
Cherami Leigh’s narration was one of the highlights for me. She perfectly captured Sybil’s personality and brought out the emotional ups and downs in a really natural way. Her pacing, tone shifts, and delivery made the story easy to follow and more enjoyable overall. I could easily picture the story unfolding just through the way she told it.
Even though I didn’t read the first book, I never felt lost. If anything, it made me curious to go back and read it. If you enjoy character-driven romcoms with a bit of chaos and great narration, this one is worth the listen.

4.5 Stars
Okay, I see you Hannah Brown. Reality TV star turned book author.
This book had me in an actual chokehold. The way it took me down the road of Sybil Rain's life, but had me routing for what her love story would look like in the end. The vacation turned ex-fiancee fiasco. I was eating it up. I loved the depth of the story line that I wasn't sure would be there, but definitely was. There was a sense of chaos throughout the book that was sometimes so unnecessary, but was a fun little additive to the book. The ending had me so swept up in it and thrilled that what I was routing for was how it ended. This was a perfect quick summer read.
Themes throughout the book:
Second Chance Romance
Forced Proximity
Fake Dating
Runaway Bride
Dual Timeline
Potential triggers:
Miscarriage
PCOS

Thank you Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the ARC!
This book was such a surprise. I love a soapy beach read and this one delivered - except it had a lot more depth and heart than I was expecting. I really enjoyed the characters in this story. I plan to read the first in this series next, and will read any books that come next!
Thank you again for the ARC!

Thank you Hannah Brown and Hachette Audio, for letting me listen to this ALC via NetGalley.
The narrator for this was perfect ! Bubbly and gave all the emotion that fit in with the story.
Review from eARC:
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Vibes: 🌴💍🍹💔🏖️🌊✨
Rating: 4.5⭐
Tropes: second chance / fake dating / hea / island resort
Sybil isn't your typical rom-com lead, she's funny, flawed, wounded, and deeply human. This book is the definition of romantic comedy, laughing when Sybil laughs and crying when Sybil cries. I felt so engaged with the storyline and loved the surprising amount of vulnerability. Honestly, though, it’s the slow-burn healing arc that stuck with me.
Jamie Kauffman is officially added to the book boyfriends list. Nothing felt rushed, everything was perfect.

This was my first time reading anything by Hannah Brown, overall i really enjoyed the story of Sybil Rain. I do love reading about second chance romances and this story took place on a tropical resort in Hawaii, this one read like a telenovela. I also really enjoyed the forced proximity of the 2 ex fiances showing up to the same resort, and pushing Sybl Rain to grow as person and really settle on what she wants. All the characters go through growth during the story and recognize their shortcomings as people & in relationships. The backstories of the characters were great at explaining why each characters is the way they are, without adding too many flashbacks that take away from the man story.
I think the narrator Cherami Leigh did a wonder job voice all the characters but especially voicing Sybil Rain. You can hear the the insecurity, naiveness & shift happening to Sybil as the story progresses. I also enjoyed the tropical theme music at the beginning & end of the story.

Sybil Rain was complicated and a bit of hot mess throughout most of this book. She wasn't your typical heroine. In fact, at times, I didn't really like her. There was a lot of growth that had to happen throughout this book. Sybil had to really find herself throughout this book. Hannah Brown did deliver on this. The book was well written with so much crazy conflict and messiness. I adored the Hawaii setting. It was a character in itself. This book was a huge mess of different tropes. Second chances, fake dating, some forced proximity, love triangle. Sybil was a lot at times. There was strong backstory to show us why she was the way she was but it sure was messy at times. I did end up liking Sybil at the end and this girl really had to work for her happily ever after. Whew. It was worth it in the end. I listened to this book in audio. I loved the narrator. She did a great job bringing Sybil to life. This was a great summer listen!!
I received this book from Hachette Audio and Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

The Four Engagement Rings is an easy, heartwarming read that blends charm with emotional depth. Hannah Brown thoughtfully explores the ups and downs of love, life, and the unexpected turns along the way. The story weaves in meaningful themes like second chances, personal reflection, and the realities of living with PCOS, all while maintaining a hopeful and uplifting tone. It’s a cute, feel-good journey that reminds readers that healing, growth, and love can come when you least expect them.
Thank you NetGalley, Hannah Brown, and Hachette Audio for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
