This was not my typical read, but I like Hannah Brown and the premise enough to be intrigued. Overall, I thought this book was enjoyable for a specific audience, and unfortunately, I don't think I was that audience.
Sybil Rain is an emotionally immature FMC with a big heart and a lot of anxiety. She is "The Bolter" personified- and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Honestly, I enjoyed her characterization and immaturity because I was able to watch her growth in a very real and relatable way. She was impulsive and a little selfish, and I really didn't mind.
Seb and Jamie were fun to get to know, and I really saw and understood how she could be with such different people, because they really made her feel like different people. Their dynamics were very opposite, but both felt natural. I did appreciate how she handled Seb, and I think she really exhibited serious growth.
My issue with this book- and why I feel I am not the audience for it, comes from the conflict. I don't think that it is a bad conflict per se, but I think it does require an audience that is very much interested in it or wants to see themselves in a character like Sybil. I listened to the audiobook so I cannot speak for a print/eBook version, but in audio, there was no content warning or author's note about the context of the conflict.
As for the narrator, I did enjoy her cadence and ability to emote. Because there were two main-ish male characters, and several flashbacks, I do think it would have been beneficial to have a dual or duet style narration, to make things a little easier to follow along, but that is more of a personal preference than it is a fault of the production.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced audio copy. All opinions are my own.

Things I liked about this story:
-Strong female friendships, right from the start
-Chemistry between Sybil and Jamie
-Island setting
-Journey after loss
-Flashbacks to past engagements (I felt like it was a breath of fresh air when things could have started to feel stagnant)
Things I did not like about this story:
-Seb
-Sybil's therapist being some sort of inspirational speaker, instead of someone she can see on a regular basis and actually process what she needs to for healing.
All in all, I enjoyed this story and will definitely be watching for more of Hannah Brown's stories to snatch up.
Thank you to Net Galley, Hachette Audio, and Hannah Brown for an ALC of this story.

This story was cute, hopeful, and romantic. The only complaint I have is that the storyline is predictable. I know a lot of readers who enjoy the predictability of some romance novels. There's comfort in the familiar and those readers will definitely enjoy this story.

Starting off strong, I loved Sybil's quirkiness. I think that her eccentricities were beautifully written and complimented her internal struggles well. She was a perfectly relatable character and I loved her journey of confronting her issues and learning how to be honest with those around her.
I think Sybil's experience of making herself smaller for the comfort of others is an extremely relatable feeling for a lot of women and I was kicking my feet for her because she DESERVES this happy ending. I also think the grace she has for Sebastian really shows her colors in the brightest light here, as she really could have told him to "get lost," after his behavior when they were together.
Now for the mediocre, I don't think Jamie's character was explored enough. There was a scene when they were fighting at the beach, where I really wanted him to lean in more and again during the love confession in the hotel room. I think that his character was built around Sybil's and i would have really loved to learn more about what made him unique in a way that didn't serve to either compliment or foil Sybil's character. I think this piece would have made him feel more real in the end.
Over all, this story was entertaining, light and ultimately hopeful. The hopeless romantic in me loved the consistent romanticism of seemingly normal event. I would recommend givign this a read and I hope to read more of Brown's colorful stories.
The narration was so fun to listen to and I felt like the narrator was perfectly chosen to embody Sybil! Kudos!!
A huge thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this novel and to Hachette Audio for the audiobook to accompany it.

In a use it or lost it move Sybil rain finds herself in Hawaii on her honeymoon exactly one year after her wedding was called off further complicating things Sybil's ex-fiance Jamie has also found himself on the same trip now confronted with Jamie in the present forces Sybil to re-examine her past to figure out where things went wrong.
I appreciate how this is clearly a companion book to Brown's first book but I never once felt like I was missing anything. It does make me want to put the first book at the top of Mike to be read list and also makes me excited for the next member of the "core four" to get their story.
I loved how the story unfolded and how when we thought we knew all the stakes, another layer would be revealed and not in a throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks kind of scenario. But in a way that felt like Sybil finally coming to terms with and fully opening up about her past. It starts out simple enough. But as Sybil ruminates further and further back, you realize how much past traumas can really carry forward to the present.
I love a good second Chance romance. I like people who can't get each other out of their system and need that one cathartic rehash to clearly see where things went wrong and the potential for it to go right again. Also, there's usually a ton of chemistry. This book definitely checks all the boxes.
I thought the audiobook was done really well. I think that the narrator was perfectly able to capture Sybil's outgoing personality, but also balance that well with her vulnerability. Because there's more to Sybil and her story than we first realize, it's good that there are layers to the narration as well.

I really enjoyed The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown. Sybil decides to go to Hawaii one year after her failed wedding to Jamie and takes the time to reflect on her past relationships. However, thinking about it seems to manifest Jamie and Seb! Jamie and Sybil are still drawn to each other in a way that makes her question why she ended things. But maybe the year apart is exactly what they needed to become a stronger, better couple? Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

this shouldn't hve been a romance but a story about someone figuring out that they need therapy and therapy taht works.

This was a fun story with likable characters. Nice easy summer read! Thought the book waited a bit long to being Seb into the picture and also thought the stroll down memory lane of Sybil’s previous engagements was a little oddly placed, but it did help readers understand her character more deeply, so it wasn’t just filler as I first thought. Overall, very enjoyable read!

i adored this second chance romance with an fmc who truly reminded me of myself. she’s very free spirited, goes where the wind takes her and is also very complex. Sybil has been engaged 3 times so far in her life and none managed to stick. i really enjoyed going through each relationship, how it started, the ups and downs, and then why it ended.
the plot line of her most recent ex fiance vacationing in the same spot as her (what would’ve been their honeymoon destination) leads her to creating an elaborate storyline that she’s there with her boyfriend … who doesn’t exist, UNTIL, the ex fiance before him shows up and they immediately dive into the fake dating ploy.
i was laughing with Sybil, crying with Sybil and all in all feeling like one with her. i really loved this!

Thank you NetGalley, Hachette, and Hannah Brown for the advanced listen in exchange for my honest review.
I will say that I went into this book with high hopes because I love the author. Overall, it did not disappoint. The first half of the book I had a hard time enjoying the FMC- she seemed whiny, indecisive, etc but after learning more about her past and why she is the way she is- it gave me a new appreciation for her.
I’m not a big fan of miscommunication and boy was there a lot of that in this book. The entire time I wanted to make Sybil and Jamie just sit down and TALK/LISTEN to each other… though if they did that the book could have ended at about chapter 10, lol.
In the end, I love a good second chance. The character growth was good enough to appease me.
The narrator was wonderful- it made this a pleasant listen.

I really enjoyed this audiobook as well as the story. It’s a perfect choice for some light summer reading. The narrator did a great job at differentiating the characters and keeping the listener interested as well. The story flowed well and was easy to listen to. I loved the second chance romance as well as seeing the characters growth with the story.

Sybil, the notorious escapee of all thing's weddings and marriage. She has now had three engagements to different men, and she just thinks things aren't adding up in her favor to be married. What better way to treat yourself and pick yourself up after leaving your wedding a year earlier?! Go to the destination you planned to have your honeymoon, Hawaii.
Everything seems to be going great for Sybils trip, she's going to reconnect with herself and a bonus, get a little work in while she's relaxing! But as she approaches the infinity pool on her first day, she is met by Jamie, her ex-fiancée and he seems to be vacationing in the same hotel, same spot as Sybil, with his "colleague".
Sybil is determined to not look pitiful in front her ex-fiancée, who seems to be doing VERY well with his super attractive "colleague" and fibs about being on her vacation with her "boyfriend". The only problem, he doesn't exist. But what better way to solve this dilemma than to have her second fiancée show up at this exact hotel and fake a relationship!
Thankfully, Sybil is able to figure out exactly what she wants and exactly what she's been missing.
❤ Forced Proximity
❤ Tropical Getaway
❤ Second Chance Romance
This book is perfect for a light entertaining read and a nice break between thrillers.
Narrated by Cherami Leigh. Cherami does a fantastic job keeping you engaged with the story. Cherami is an easy listen, has great voice deflection and has a voice for every character. Absolutely enjoyed listening to her tell this story!
Thank you to Hachette Audio for this ALC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you Hachette Audio | Forever for the ALC!
This was a really sweet and cute story! Hannah Brown’s first book was good and you can tell her writing has grown since then. You can clearly hear her voice as the story unfolds and it makes for a better connection to the characters. This was everything that Brown seems to embody: lightheartedness, tenderness, kindness, humor and sweetness!

I enjoyed this book! My favorite part was that I couldn’t determine the ending for most of the book. Sybil was chaotic and fun to follow in a resort setting. It was very Forgetting Sarah Marshall-esque! A solid beach reach with just a bit of spice and slow burn.

Three failed engagements. One solo honeymoon. Zero chance of avoiding her ex... or the others.
After Sybil’s third engagement implodes, she does the only sensible thing: takes the honeymoon anyway—solo. A little sun, a little self-reflection, and a fresh start.
What she doesn’t expect? Her most recent ex-fiancé, Jamie, showing up on the same trip… for work. And he’s not alone—his gorgeous coworker is right by his side.
Just when Sybil thinks it can't get any worse, her other ex-fiancés start appearing. Is she being pranked? Is this some twisted reality show?
As awkward run-ins turn into unavoidable time together, Sybil is forced to revisit each relationship—the sparks, the heartbreak, and everything in between. The chemistry might still be there, but so are all the reasons things fell apart.
Now, surrounded by the ghosts of romances past, Sybil has to decide: is this a second chance at love... or just a painfully beautiful reminder of what might have been?

This was a great summer rom com! I felt Hannah Brown’s adorable voice all throughout the story. It had a great message at the end too about finding someone that loves your messiness.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for this ALC. Book 2 in the Mistakes we never made series is about Sybil, the runaway bride from book 1, going on her would-be honeymoon alone before it expires. While there, she runs into her former fiance, Jamie, who’s on a business trip. She is flustered and states she is there with a boyfriend after unexpectedly speaking with a different former fiancé earlier that day. Everything goes upside down when that former fiance shows up to see Sybil and make Jamie jealous. The narrator was perfect for this and I loved the listening experience!

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a beautifully layered novel that dances effortlessly between heartbreak and humor, tragedy and tenderness. Hannah Brown delivers a stunning exploration of love, identity, and resilience through the life of Sybil, a woman who—across four very different engagements—learns more about herself than any ring could ever symbolize.
Hannah Brown has crafted something special here: a story that will make you laugh, cry, reflect, and cheer. The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is more than a romance—it’s a heartfelt coming-of-age story for anyone who’s ever lost themselves in love and fought to find their way back. Highly recommended.

This book broke my heart a little bit in certain places but it was put back together by the end beautifully!
Sybil dealt with a lot of insecurity and past relationship trauma that unfortunately fed into her future engagements. But her and Jamie? Oh my god they were just so meant to be. Their time apart was necessary for growth and they learnt that lack of communication really was their downfall the first time round.
Opposites attract in such a satisfying way but similar in their belief in one another and faith that the other person was ultimately their end game. Island setting was brilliant and Hannah Brown really built up the tension with events that happened on island time.
Loved Sybil’s friends and I hope we get more of their stories!
I could listen to the audio again and again purely because of Cherami Leigh‘s fantastic narration.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this wonderful ALC!

If you’re looking for a book to give you all the summer feels, this is the one! The rollercoaster ride that is Sybil Rain is one you don’t want to get off of. There is always something happening. Whether it’s inviting an ex fiancé to the island you’re on for some catch up time, or running into another ex fiancé who left you on your wedding day a year ago who also has a gorgeous female Colleague accompanying him, regardless, poor Sybil is constantly running into trouble! She’s on this trip for both work and pleasure and while the work part is easy, who will she get the pleasure from? This was such a fun read that was easy to follow and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next!
