This story tugged at my heart strings and I do not think I’ve ever related more to a FMC than I did in this book. I recently went through what Sybil had been going through days prior to her wedding and I was also diagnosed with PCOS at 18. This story truly allowed for me to not feel alone in the world but also served as a reminder that the sun always shines after a storm.

This a sweet light read perfect for your next beach or pool day! The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a unique take on the second chance romance, with a beautiful Hawaiian setting. If you're a fan of second chance romance, kind of complicated, summer romance with a miscommunication microtrope then you will love this book. I will say the fact that I had the audiobook was what kept me engaged, it took me until about 25% before I felt hooked on Sybil's story. This book ultimately fell a little flat for me.

I enjoyed the layering of Sybil's past relationships with the present, how they've affected her and how she's grown as a person throughout. What kept nagging at me the entire story was how greatly it was evident to me that Sybil needed real therapy, with a real therapist and not a "holistic healer" it felt like it made mental health care, in the midst of years of compacted trauma that Sybil was carrying, a joke. That and sheer severity of miscommunication that happened between Sybil and Jamie. While their growth and changes in maturity are a huge part of their second chance, I felt like it took me out of the story and I found myself getting frustrated with the characters and their lack of ability to communicate. I truly think I just prefer less intense/quantity of miscommunication, and a more secure couple. Overall I was happy to watch them come back together. Jamie and Sybil are definitely a couple that balance each other out. They both had a lot of growing to do and their time a part definitely made the heart grow fonder.

Cherami Leigh did an excellent job portraying the emotion, and vulnerability of Sybil, as well as that of the supporting cast! I felt like I could truly envision them with her exemplary narration.

Like many others I do wish that there had been a trigger warning at the beginning for pregnancy loss, and/or infertility, it was very jarring to have on page with no warning.

I LOVED this. Everything about this was great, the premise, the alternating timelines, the setting, just all of it. Did the FMC seem to stand in her own way a lot? Yes, but that's life. We can't have perfect book heroines, that's not real life. I also loved Jamie so so much. From the book's premise I thought for a second that Liam was going to come back into the picture, but as I kept listening, I was like he better f****ng not come back into the picture. The twist(s) were very emotional and not something I saw coming, but I thought everything worked out well and tied together with the story. Was the helicopter scene a little much? Maybe, but again, it's a romance book, and romance books can do what they want. Sometimes all you want is to just have a great time listening to a book and Hannah Brown's story and Cherami Leigh's narration provided that in spades.

2.5⭐️ Thank you Hachette Audio, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the arc and alc in exchange for an honest review.

I listened to the audiobook version of this primarily even though I had an arc as well, but I honestly think that the reason I liked it at all is because of the audiobook. This started off strong as I was intrigued by the multiple engagements situation, but as more elements began to reveal themselves I quickly found myself annoyed. The main reason being the huge miscommunication element between Sybil and Jaime. And it's entirely possible that I just prefer more open and trusting relationships between the main characters, but I am able to understand that I little miscommunication does occur and no relationship is perfect. However, in this case the amount of significant information that was just completely withheld by Sybil was too much for me to ignore. The fact that she was unable to trust this information with the supposed love of her life and man she was marrying, just spoke to how immature and not ready they were to be married. Which again, I understand was the whole point, but it was just too unrealistic for me. And without being too spoilery, Sybil and Jaime are having an extremely pivotal argument about key events that happened in the past, but Sybil hurls an immature jibe at Jaime claiming he has kept his relationship with his co-worker secret, when she honestly has no right to even address (at least in my opinion). Sybil just struck me as immature at many points throughout the story, which is fine because no one has everything figured out, but it detracted from my overall experience. This does have a unique approach to the second chance romance trope, which I normally love, but the execution of it fell a little flat for me. I do think that if you are in the mood for a slightly complicated, second chance, summer vacation romance, this could work for you.

I enjoyed the audiobook of The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain. The narrator captured Sybil’s voice perfectly. When I first started this book, I fell into that place of judging Sybil for having all these broken engagements, and then the more you get into the book, it’s obvious that nothing is ever that clear cut. The author guides the reader through a journey that includes anxiety, fertility problems and more. Will Sybil find her safe, healthy place?

Thanks to NetGalley and Hackett Audio for this advance copy.

Equal parts hilarious and heartfelt, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a tropical rom-com delight with surprising emotional depth. Sybil is the kind of messy, magnetic heroine you can’t help but root for as she navigates a dream vacation turned emotional minefield. The story is complete with multiple ex-fiancés, a fake boyfriend scheme, and the haunting weight of unresolved heartbreak. Hannah Brown brings sharp wit, breezy pacing, and real vulnerability to a story that could’ve easily stayed surface-level fun, but instead offers a thoughtful look at self-worth, romantic misfires, and the courage it takes to stop running. The audiobook narrator brings Sybil to life with charm, humor, and impeccable timing, making the experience even more immersive and entertaining. Perfect for fans of Emily Henry or Christina Lauren, this is a vacation you won’t want to end.

This was a huge improvement for me over Hannah Brown last book. This one was interesting and funny. I just loved it. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. The narrator did an amazing job telling the story. I love a good second chance romance.
Thank you to Hatchette audio for the opportunity to listen to this book.

This was a great book by a fellow Alabama alum! I read Mistakes We Never Made previously, and this was an amazing tie-in that wrapped up a bunch of questions I had from the prequel! Sybil was a wholly relatable FMC: a bit of a mess, a people-pleaser, and similarly diagnosed with PCOS. I also have a lot of the fears and doubts that she had, so her story resonated a lot with me. There were times I wanted to shake Sybil—mostly I just wanted to shake Sebastian, though—but I think that the way her and Jamie reconciled their relationship was the way it needed to happen for her. Otherwise, I think she would have struggled with the questions she vocalized to her friends at the end, that they—very rightly—set her straight over.

The narrator was amazing, as well!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and loved the way it tied a bow on the story we got a hint of in Mistakes We Never Made!

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown opens with Sybil Rain on her honeymoon – or at least, as much of one as you can have when your fiancé, Jamie, breaks your heart at the altar. This wasn't her first failed engagement, however; she'd also had two previous ones with Liam and Sebastian. Liam, her first, was the golden boy high school sweetheart she typically doesn't talk about. Her friends convince Sybil to take the trip alone for some much-needed time to herself.

But, as luck would have it, she's not alone for long. On her very first walk around the resort, she spots Jamie, who's there for a work trip with his family's firm. To make the awkward encounter even more awkward, Sybil claims she's there with her boyfriend. And then, somehow, ex-fiancé number two, Sebastian, also appears at the same resort! How unlucky is this girl? Sebastian was the fun, adventurous fiancé, a professional photographer, and he takes Sybil's spur-of-the-moment invitation to visit quite seriously, entering the story around the 50% mark. This trip, meant to avoid real life, quickly turns into a forced confrontation with all her past failed engagements. Jamie, meanwhile, goes through his own journey, coming to terms with what he truly wants rather than listening to his judgmental family. Despite Sybil's fake date and Jamie's potential fling, he and Sybil do begin to rebond during the trip. The story ultimately sees Sybil facing the reality of her past relationships, coming to terms with things before she can allow herself to be open to love and a potential fourth engagement in her future.

I really liked this one! It was such a unique second-chance-at-love story, packed with a lot of good character growth. I particularly enjoyed how the book showed Sybil's inner struggle with commitment, getting over her past, and truly being her authentic self. It also beautifully touched on the idea that each person goes through different stages and seasons of life, and how each past relationship contributes to that journey.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review. Release date 6/24/25.

This is exactly the sequel I needed. I absolutely loved being in Sybil’s head and getting to understand her choices and thought processes in book 1. Absolutely adorable and 100% worth a read.

I, like many others, have been a big fan of Hannah Brown since watching her on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I didn’t have any expectations when I started to read this book but I absolutely loved it!! I was impressed by the depth of the story, the build up of characters and their relationships, the thoroughness, and overall how well this book grabbed my attention! Much better than I would’ve imagined and I’m so glad I read it! Congrats, Hannah!

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This one was a cute little romcom with a chaotic twist! Sybil has been engaged three times but never made it down the aisle. Instead of wasting her prepaid honeymoon, she heads to the resort solo… only to run into not one, but two of her ex-fiancés. Naturally, she pretends to be dating one of them—because her most recent ex is also there with a woman he swears is just a “colleague.” 👀

I was all in for the drama and the mess, and I loved the premise. But whew, the situation with Jamie just seemed to drag on way too long. While I really appreciated the FMC's growth and her becoming much more self-aware and accountable, it just felt like this book was much longer than it needed to be, just to get to an ending that I had already figured out halfway through the book.

This is a fun, single POV story perfect for the beach or lounging by the pool. I did not read the first in the series, but all of the characters are well introduced with only minor spoilers to the first book. The single POV makes sense for the book because while it is about Sybil finding love in another person, the bigger story is her coming to own herself and be proud of the woman she is without putting up any pretenses for others.

Faced with expiring travel vouchers for a honeymoon that did not happen, Sybil heads to Hawaii on a solo trip. What she didn’t expect was to run into her ex-fiancée who she left at the alter a year ago. Seeing him with someone else destroys Sybil and she makes up a story about being there with her new boyfriend. Imagine her shock when another ex-fiancé (in total she has 3) shows up and plays into the story about a new boyfriend. But as the truth about what Sybil was dealing with in the days before her wedding comes to light, she faced with a choice. Tell Jamie the truth, or let him go once and for all.

Tropes include:
💍Second change
👙Beach Vibes
❌Fake Relationship

Sweet romance. Liked the multiple story lines, talking about different stages of the FMC's love life. It was cute, but I don't really enjoy the 'fake dating' trope, and in this book it was especially cringey, with several places where she should have told the truth, but continued to lie. Unique and had some better moments, but overall was mostly just ok.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hachette Audio for the audiobook ARC!

This book was such a fun summer read. I listened to the audiobook and I’m glad I did because the narrator did an amazing job! Will definitely look for more books she’s narrated because I thought she had such a pleasant voice.

Some things I loved - this book had all the fun tropes! Second chance romance, fake dating, love triangle, forced proximity. I’m sure I’m missing a couple more. Definitely a book to appeal to avid romance readers! I also loved the setting. The author did such a good job making the setting a character in the book. It made it so romantic.

Some things I didn’t love - since it was a love triangle, I’m sure I was not the only one to be pulling for the wrong guy. The author made them both very likeable but also unlikeable at the same time. I felt like the main character, Sybil Rain, was very likeable at times but she also drove me crazy at other times. I really struggle with these types of FMC that always get in their own way.

All in all, I think this was a 4 star read. It was cute and funny and the narration was amazing making it was a really fun listen! Definitely will read more from this author!

This was quite a surprising read!

Firstly, I didn't realize this was book two of a series of interconnected standalones, and though I didn't read the first book, I didn't feel like I missed much.

Secondly, what I thought would be an easy, breezy, silly summer romance book actually has quite a bit of depth.

Everyone loves Sybil Rain, but no one really knows her and she's not quite marriage material. On the anniversary of her third failed engagement, Sybil heads to Hawaii to spend the near-expiring travel vouchers she had from her previously planned honeymoon. As she checks in, she gets a DM from one of her exes that he's just an island over. She jokingly tells him to hop on over and keep her company and he jokingly (she thought) says see ya soon.

Later as she's chilling at the pool, she is shocked to her latest ex-fianceé walk in...with a gorgeous woman. Nerves, envy, and silliness strike as they attempt to cordially greet each other and in her panic, she tells the two she is here with her boyfriend, whom she makes up on the spot.

For most of the book, I found Sybil walking the fine line of being an endearing hot mess and an annoying girl digging her own grave. Her character didn't quite resonate with my Type A self, but right as I was about fully fed up with her, we get a peek behind the curtain and learn the story behind each of her three failed engagements and the depth and severity of topics was not something I expected.

I found myself up at 2 a.m. engrossed and trying to finish the book to see how the predicted HEA was going to fall into place.

Also, I read this via audiobook and Cherami Leigh gave a fantastic performance that was engaging with a wide variety of voices.

I love an interconnected standalone book. This one was very cute. It was easy to see where it was going, but there were some interesting back stories and bumps in the road along the way.

I'd like to thank Hachette Audio and NetGalley for this ARC!

3.5 stars. This was unexpectedly fun! I can't stand a miscommunication trope, so this should not have been up my alley. On paper, the premise is outlandish. Three ex fiancés, but sometimes the ridiculous premise is the perfect summer read. I FLEW through this. It was breezy and funny, but also heartfelt and morose at times.

The good: the setting is stunning and I think Hannah does an excellent job of setting the gorgeous scene. It's hard not to get caught up in the whirlwind of the romance when the Hawaiian backdrop makes everything so dreamy. Also THIS NARRATOR. Cherami Leigh is outstanding. I think this would have been a 2.5-3 star read had it not been for her excellent narration. Honestly, I'm going to seek out books narrated by her.

The bad: If I had to hear the name Gwendoline one more time, I was going to scream. This book both addresses mental health and glazes over it as if it's a So Cal fad. Sybil needed real therapy with a real doctor, not a wellness whatever. There was real trauma in Sybil's backstory and while the book attempts to unpack it, I just kept thinking that Sybil deserved more than what she was given. At some point I lost track of the miscommunication trope because I was too busy being concerned about the mental and physical wellness of our FMC. It soured the book on the whole, so I only felt a bit empty in the end.

this story was a hit and miss for me. I loved Sybil and her whole character: I knew I loved her from MWNM, so I was so excited to read this story! she’s full of so much love and authenticity and desire and passion, my heart broke and melted for her throughout this story.

I didn’t love the switch between male love interests halfway through the book, then turning it kind an into a love triangle (kinda, not wholly, but a little). I was fully interested in the Sybil and Jamie (even if I didn’t fully love him at the beginning) and then Sebastian kinda comes out of nowhere (and again I didn’t love him at the beginning either).

I did like how the story ultimately concluded, tying up the loose ends, but I didn’t love the multiple MMC’s split between the story.

the audiobook was really good! I loved the narration and production of the audiobook, it let me better get through the hiccups of the story for me!

thank you for the alc!!!

This book!! One of my favorite reading experiences when it comes to contemporary romance is going into it with an expectation of what it’ll be like, but coming out of it feeling seen, understood, and smiling.

Boy meets girl, they fall in love, have a third act breakup, jk they get back together, BAM epilogue weddings and babies galore. This book? Nah let’s go with an FMC on a mental health journey, a history of failed relationships, accurate navigation of PCOS and miscarriage, the sweetest second chance love story, a man with emotional intelligence, and a whole lot of hilarious banter.

I love love love this story! I highly recommend picking it up! Hannah, thank you for helping this PCOS ridden woman feel seen by this story so eloquently ❤️

Thanks to Hachette Audio for the NetGalley ALC! 🎧

(For my low/no spice girlies, I’d classify this as a fade to black, personally!)
