This was fantastic. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t stop listening. I was hooked from the first minute! The narration was wonderful. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this audiobook.

Thank you to NetGalley, @HachetteAudio, and Kelley Armstrong for the Audio Advanced Reader Copy of Writing Mr. Wrong.
As far as the audio goes, the only thing that took me a second to get used to was the dual narration style of the individual lines of conversation for each main character still being performed by their respective narrator, even when it was the other character’s POV. I think it’s along the same lines as the ensemble cast narration that’s all the rage among the kids these days. I didn’t hate it, it just took some getting used to.
This book was really refreshing! I loved the character development of Mason and how he genuinely wanted to be a better person. He didn’t necessarily want to be a better person because of Gemma, either. Although, she was the catalyst that made him realize something was wrong in the first place. He wanted to be better because he didn’t like his own actions.
I love love loved that Gemma’s mom pointed out the difference between careless and mean. I especially loved how she pointed out that, although careless isn’t necessarily irredeemable, it often ends up with the same result as being mean. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that concept discussed in a book before. These two have some great people in their lives and the supporting characters really drove a lot of the plot and development.
I also appreciated that the character development was not restricted to the character with the most obvious flaws. Gemma had quite a bit of her own development, as well. She worked through some of her own trauma responses, realized it wasn’t ok that she only wanted parts of Mason when they were kids, and decided to try to work through their issues instead of running away after she messed up.
As an adoptive mom, I got really nervous when the adoption storyline was brought up in the epilogue (I recently read a book that I dropped down to a 1-star review for severely mishandling an adoption storyline.) However, I thought Kelley Armstrong did a great job with this (even if 6-months into a relationship is incredibly early to bring adoptive children into the picture.) She didn’t go too far into the process, just the start of the paperwork and some information on the discussions the two had before their decision. If someone is going to add an adoption storyline without first-hand knowledge of the process, this is how I’d like it handled. Other authors, take notes! And Kelley, thank you.
I think the only thing I didn’t love about this book was that the ending felt rushed. I was 90% through the book and the storyline felt like I was at 75%. I would have liked to see more of how they navigated the complications of a very publicised star-and-rising-star pairing that were bound to appear after leaving the island. Mostly, I wanted to know what happened during those 6 months.
Overall, this book was a fun, refreshing read! Definitely recommend.
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️

This was such a fun, fast-paced read that kept me hooked right from the start. The story had a great energy to it, and I flew through the first half. That said, towards the end it started to feel a little dragged out, and some of it was repetitive, which pulled me out of the momentum a bit. Still, I really enjoyed the ride overall and would recommend it if you’re looking for an entertaining and quick read!

This book was a fun, light read that really discussed how people can change, how stories change depending on the person telling them, and at the end of the day that being true to yourself is always worth it. I just wish the two main characters had the conversations they needed sooner rather than playing these games. The narration was amazing and really h elped keep me engaged in the book!

This book was basically a rom-com burrito: warm, comforting and slightly messy with a touch of spice 🌯💞 I laughed, I swooned and I definitely have another hockey player to add to my book boyfriend roster. My favourite part of the book was seeing Mason's character development and the introspective conversations he and Gemma had. I also loved seeing two mature protagonists finding love and overcoming the classic miscommunication trope.
Narrators Patricia Santomasso and Sean Patrick Hopkins did a fantastic job of bringing Gemma and Mason to life. What really set this audio book apart from any others I have listened to was the use of sound effects to indicate when the characters were receiving text messages. So cute!
Perfect for anyone who loves:
- Second chance romance
- Forced proximity
- Sports romance

Hockey romance meets fake dating...say less!!
This was a super cute second chance romance about an author who reconnects with an NHL player she went to school with (who may or may not have had some influence on her MMC/cover model on her book 🤭
A very nice lighthearted read that left me smiling! 😊
Thank you to Netgalley for the audio ARC!

In writing circles, you'll often hear the joke about not crossing an author because they may write you into their next book. In "Writing Mr. Wrong," that's exactly what happens when debut author Gemma finds inspiration for her alpha male romance. But it backfires on her when her arch nemesis from high school readily identifies the dislikable character as their fellow classmate Mason, who has become a well known hockey player. Years ago, Gemma and Mason were friends, but then he fumbled a situation that left Gemma feeling hurt and betrayed, and they never set things right between them.
And now, all these years later, she comes face-to-face with Mason and the embarrassment she feels over having relied so heavily on their unresolved situation for inspiration. Yet, when Mason comes to her defense, the media and their fans love it! So, their publicity agents convince them it's worthwhile to spend a little time together, which Mason is fine with since Gemma has always been the one who got away.
As they each work through their issues and come to terms with the past, both realize that if they can manage their fears, they might actually have something worth fighting for. But the question is, are either of them up for the fight?
What I really liked about Gemma and Mason is that neither of them represented stereotypical characters. Despite the emotional toll her failed marriage took on her, Gemma is striving to become the strong and independent woman she once was, and Mason is working through unresolved issues from his childhood that prevent him from being the man he wants to become. So there is depth to both of these characters that I really enjoyed. And while there was a bit more steam that I enjoy in a story, there was also a good storyline here.
Thank you to Kelley Armstrong, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

Gemma’s journey feels relatable. Most of us have that one person from our past who left a mark we can’t quite let go of. For Gemma, the way she channeled those feelings was by writing that person into her new book. What she never expected was that someone from high school would recognize the connection and suddenly bring her old enemy back into her life.
Mason, the hockey star, doesn’t realize Gemma had no idea he was there. For him, it was a chance to step back into her world since she was never part of his in the hockey spotlight. Mason is used to being admired and getting his way, but Gemma isn’t impressed by the fame or attention—and that dynamic made their interactions so fun to read.
It was so engaging to watch Gemma and Mason untangle their complicated past and finally confront the truth of what happened between them. I especially appreciated Mason’s personal growth and seeing him learn to express himself and become more open felt genuine. What made it even better was that Gemma remained true to herself, never having to compromise who she was to fit into his world.
As an added bonus, the narrators chosen for the audiobook were great.
Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Kelley Armstrong for the opportunity to listen and review this book.

Having been a fan of Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series I was looking forward to trying her regular romance. I enjoyed the story well enough but I found her writing style was quite different in this book and I wasn’t as fond of it. I did enjoy the duet audio reading between the narrators.

I will follow Kelley Armstrong into any genre (says someone who has yet to touch any of her horror books.)
This had me kicking my feet and gave me butterflies in my stomach. It was everything I could want out of a rom-com.
Narration: I was not previously familiar with either narrator, but I ended up listening in one sitting and feel they were extremely well cast. I highly recommend the audio version.
Thanks to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for my ALC.

This was a really fun fast-paced read. It felt dragged out towards the end, and I started to find the tropes a bit repetitive. Overall, good book!

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and Kelley Armstrong for the opportunity to read an ARC of "Writing Mr. Wrong"!
So, I am not usually one for romance novels..... but OMG I LOVED this one! I will now be looking for all of Kelley Armstrong's romance books!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the audiobook copy!
I will admit I had a good time with this book. It has a very whacky premise with the main girl being accused of basing the male lead in her romance novel on her high school crush. However, the author is able to subvert this in a way that is less creepy and more charming. I liked the banter the main two had and the development of their relationship was not rushed which is a plus. I did think the plot point of her helping to reform him was a bit unnecessary but besides that this romance worked out for the better. I would recommend checking this out if you haven't already.

Gemma is a debut author who was stuck writing a character that fit a certain archetype, and used her previous high school crush as her inspiration. An old classmate sees the similarities and brings it up on a talk show - and then makes them reunite live.
I enjoyed seeing how Gemma did not let Mason get away with his crap. She absolutely called him out and I was here for it. He did not realize how careless he was in his actions but through Gemma, he was able to learn.
Duet narration by: Patricia Santomasso & Sean Patrick Hopkins
Pick this one up if you enjoy:
* Rom com
* Second chance
* High school crush
* Forced proximity
* Fake dating

This was much better than the first book in this series. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but the character growth was much better. The plot was more believable. I enjoyed this one!

The premise behind this book was hilarious and it started off strong. I couldn't really get on board with the male main character at first, and while he did come around, I didn't really enjoy them as a couple quite as much as I'd hoped to. I appreciated the hockey content though :)

I listened to this audiobook as an advanced copy from NetGalley and it was super cute. Loved the duet narration they definitely held my attention and added a depth to the story. Gemma is an author who is forced to write a book with a character that's an asshole so she bases it off of her first crush who just happens to be a famous hockey star. I'll admidt the hockey thing at first was a little off-putting since I'm not a fan of hockey romance novels, however, this was mentioned just enough to add to the story, not focus on it. The back and forth banter was cute. This book was enjoyable but didn't blow me away by any means.

I had such a great time reading this book! It pulled me in right from the start and kept me turning the pages. The writing flowed so well, and I found myself completely invested in the story and characters. It’s one of those reads you just don’t want to put down.
huge thanks to the publisher for sending me an early copy!! I’m so glad I got to read it ahead of the release day and can't wait for the world to get to enjoy it too!!

This was a second chance at a relationship they never had due to some slight miscommunications. I loved the narrators for this book, I think they did a fantastic job at capturing those awkward moments the main characters had when they were younger and how they slowly navigated their rekindled friendship as adults. I loved hearing how they saw each other in high school and how those feelings grew into something deeper as adults. The natural progression of their relationship was nice, and I think that worked really well for them as they built a solid relationship.
Thanks to Brieana from Forever for the eARC and ALC!

It seems to be a cute lighthearted story, however I had some issues with the pacing that I wasn't able to be fully invested in to the characters, their relationship and story. I did enjoy the amount of the audiobook I did listen to. Patricia Santomasso and Sean Patrick Hopkins did a. wonderful job with the duet style it kept me engaged enough and felt like I was watching a movie in my mind. I am open to trying other contemporary romance by Kelley Armstrong.
I still would recommend this book for anyone who loves duet narration, fake dating, and sports romance.
