I think I sobbed my way through this audiobook. Tuck Everlasting has been a favorite book of mine since I was in elementary school. This was the perfect way to revisit the story. I really loved the choice of Alexis Bledel for a narrator. I remember seeing her as Winnie Foster in the movie adaptation so her voice sounded right at home with the story. I also adored how the sound effects in the story from the water running to the music Winnie hears from the tucks. This was so well done as is going to live along side the Andy Serkis Lord of the Rings audiobooks as one of my all time favorites to revisit.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this ALC đź’›

I was so excited to see that Alexis Bledel was narrating the 50th anniversary audio for Tuck Everlasting! I’m sure it’s as nostalgic for everyone else as it is for me to read this book again as an adult. The foreword from Gabrielle Zevin just brought the nostalgia of this story full circle.

The themes are still just as important, but punctuated by the narration and sound of the music box anytime it played. I still wish the ending was wrapped up differently but that’s a gripe I’ve had since I was a kid, not wanting the story to end without Winnie and the Tuck family.

What to say about a book I've read countless times, that still pulls my heart to pieces (and reassembles it again, gently) and that I love with my entire soul? This book is (ironically) timeless and as a kid was one of the first times I really considered the problems with living forever. I absolutely adore the introduction by Gabrielle Zevin and the narration by Alexis Bledel had me excited to listen to this audiobook. I always associate her with Winnie because of the movie adaptation and her narration is perfect! I'd love it if she'd narrate more audiobooks in the future.

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced audio copy, all thoughts are my own.

I read this book as a child, when the movie came out. And now going back and reading it as an adult I have a totally new appreciation for it. The writing is timeless and although it is a children's book it is very much a story that adults can take away awe and lessons from.

It's a nostalgic read for me which I love for the first week in august. The heat and summer setting of this book all all lend into the believability of the desperate and deceptive motivations of the characters.

Winnie takes us on an adventure through the eyes of a child and into the lessons of an adult. A lovely short read . I will be buying a coffee for all the children in my life!

Tuck Everlasting is a nostalgic book from my childhood. I read and reread it as a child, enraptured by the way it captured life. I saw myself in Winnie as she grew up over the course of the story. Listening to the 50th Anniversary as an adult, the story is exactly as I remember it. It is a timeless tale that gives meaning to the turning wheel of life. Alexis Bledel was an excellent choice for a narrator. Not only does she have the talent to tell the story, but she offers another layer of nostalgia for those of us who remember the 2002 movie. The edition speaks to Natalie Babbitt’s legacy, one which Gabrielle Zevin described beautifully in her introduction. This is a book that I will continue to reread and will make its way to new generations of kids.

What if you could live forever?

This classic novel is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new audiobook edition narrated by actress Alexis Bledel. This was a re-read for me and I enjoyed it again. Alexis did a great job narrating and she was very pleasant to listen to, her voice is very calming.

If you have never read Tuck Everlasting, you should, but a short synopsis is a 10 year old girl named Winnie Foster meets the Tuck Family who drank from a spring and can live forever. We follow Winnie’s adventures with the Tuck family, but soon a man in a yellow suit shows up searching for the Tucks, and he will stop at nothing until he finds them and uncovers their secret.

I enjoyed the story of Tuck Everlasting, but I do wish it was a bit longer. I feel like things wrap up quickly and more should have happened in the plot. That being said, I think you should give this classic a read/listen in September and enjoy the audiobook with Alexis Bledel.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Incredibly enchanting!

Revisiting this magical story as an adult with children of my own was absolutely incredible. Alexis as the narrator was a delightful treat and the sound effects added an atmospheric quality to the audio.

We listened to this aloud as a family and the conversations this story evoked was a pleasant surprise.

As it happens, I began reading this special edition at the very start of August. When I reached the opening line:
"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning.”
I caught my breath. Instantly, I was transported back to the summer I first read this timeless tale, the summer I began to ponder mortality and the quiet beauty of impermanence.
This anniversary edition is brought vividly to life through the expert narration of Alexis Bledel (of Gilmore Girls fame). Her gentle, expressive performance perfectly captures the tone of the story, while the occasional, subtle sound effects enhance key moments without ever overwhelming the narrative.
Natalie Babbitt’s lyrical, descriptive writing invites readers into a lush, natural world where the magical feels possible and the ordinary shimmers with wonder.
Revisiting this beloved story decades later, now at age fifty myself, was a breathtakingly nostalgic experience. Through the lens of adulthood, I found even deeper appreciation for how tenderly Babbitt delivers profound truths about life, loss, and choice to her young audience.
A small note for first-time readers: the foreword by New York Times bestselling author Gabrielle Zevin is worth reading, but it does reveal some broad plot details that are better discovered naturally. I recommend saving it until after you’ve finished the novel, it will add a new layer to your appreciation of the story.
Whether you are discovering Tuck Everlasting for the first time or returning to it after many years, this special edition offers a rich, immersive experience worthy of its place among modern classics.

What a treat! I read Tuck Everlasting as a child and loved it. I just listened to the audiobook with Alexis Bledel narrating and was pleased to find that it still made me think, feel, and love. If you haven't had the pleasure yet, I highly recommend giving Tuck Everlasting a read. It is a great chapter book focusing on family, life, and immortality.

Thanks to NetGalley, Macmillan, and the Babbitt family for the chance to read and review! My opinions are my own!

Tuck Everlasting, written by Natalie Babbitt and narrated by Alexis Blidel was such an amazing journey! This book, which is coming up on its fiftieth anniversary, tells the story of Winnie Foster, who when looking for a little bit of excitement encounters the Tuck Family. Winnie at first is very excited to meet someone new and to make friends, but she soon learns that the family may be more than what they seem. And she might just be able to learn some lessons from them, and teach them some too.
I (somehow) have never read this book before, but I really loved it! I also think it was so special to have it narrated by Alexis Blidel, who played Winnie Foster's character in the 2002 film. I really appreciated the ways that the reader was able to learn what things were like when Winnie and the Tuck's lived, and I also was satisfied with the ending. I enjoyed the growth I saw in Winnie's character, and the ways that the different individuals were able to care for one another. I can understand why this is considered such a classic!
Thank You to NetGalley and to publisher, and narrator of this book for an ALC in exchange for an honest review. I am also thankful for the author, and the way that her life lives on through her work.

I read Tuck Everlasting in my childhood and remember enjoying it, but not much else. I'm in my early 40s now and was excited to see that it is being republished with an introduction from Gabrielle Zevin and with Alexis Bledel as the audiobook narrator. I'm so happy I revisited the story because it's the kind of book that feels very different as an adult (when you have less time left and understand life a little better) than it did as a kid. It's also the perfect book for kids and adults to talk about together.

I loved Gabrielle Zevin's introduction and though I didn't cry when I listened to this, I did get all in my feels and start contemplating what I would do if I were presented with the option of living forever. And what would happen to the world if everyone had the chance to choose if they could live forever. Alexis Bledel is the perfect audiobook narrator and she does a great job bringing you into the story. I also love that readers get the chance to hear the "fairy" music.

Somehow, this book really stands the test of time and I was honestly not even aware that the story takes place in the late 1800s. I hope kids are still reading this book, but I also encourage adults to give it another read or an audiobook listen if that's what you prefer!

This was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. In 2002, I was 10, turning 11, the same age as Winnie. The copy of my book was read so much that the spine was cracked beyond recognition, and the pages were wrinkled and torn. Listening to the audiobook narrated by Alexis Bledel **FANGIRLING** brings me right back to when I was a kid, annoying my mom to put the DVD in to watch the movie for the 100th time.

The Foster's are a wealthy family whose estate borders the woods. Winnie Foster dreams of exploring the woods, but fears the backlash from her mother if she were to break the rule and run away. The Tucks are recluses who live deep in the woods to protect the secret of the creek they were cursed by, which grants them everlasting life. Jesse, the Tucks' youngest son, starts to fall in love with Winnie and leaves her with the impossible choice of living a full life or spending an eternity with him.

I've always been so conflicted by the ending, but nonetheless, it wrapped up beautifully!

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audiobook of Tuck Everlasting. All opinions in this review are my own.

This is, and always will be, a five star book. Rereading the new 50th anniversary edition as an adult was so nostalgic and time hopped me back to 5th grade and falling in love with Winnie and the Tuck family just like the first time. I would say, 50 years later, that there are a few things that don’t age well, but chalk it up to the 70s. There are also some plot holes 5th grade me would never have picked up on but who needs to dissect children’s literature that hard, right? This is a magical story that taught me living forever is not as great as it seems and that birthdays and aging are a blessing not everyone gets to experience. Few children’s novels speak this openly about death, leaving those concepts to parents alone, but this book is a wonderful edition to that conversation: life is beautiful but life will end.

The new forward written and read by Gabrielle Zevin felt like something I would have written (but obviously better) in reflecting on what this book meant to me back in 1989. The audiobook narration by Alexis Bledel was perfect for how I pictured the story to sounds as well. Thank you Net Galley for the advanced reader copy of this book.

I love this story. I read it for the first time in middle school. It is still just as good. I was just as emotional as I was then. It was such a comfort read. The audio was so good. The introduction was so sweet and heartwarming. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

While I did not grow up reading Tuck Everlasting, I did grow up with Gilmore Girls and the film version of the book, so when I saw an ARC available for the 50th anniversary edition with Alexis Bledel as the narrator, I jumped at the chance! My kiddos have also had this book assigned as summer reading so I wanted to be able to enjoy it along with them.

I’ll be honest in that I think it’s one of the few books where I actually enjoyed a movie version better-it seemed to capture the ethereal and whimsical quality of the woods, while also painting the genuine haunting quality of the spring that granted immortality. The age gap between the 17 year old Jesse who is smitten with 10 year old Winnie makes me wonder why we are still giving this book to children.

That said, the writing and plot was still great for a middle grade book, and Alexis did a wonderful job of narrating.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for providing this copy for my review. All opinions are my own.

I was so excited that I got approved for the alc of this book I read this. Book as a kid and fell in love with it and wanted to see if I had the same reaction

I adored the audio on this, the narrator was easy to listen to and the sound effects was amazing. I loved the lyrical way the author writes, and you really fall in love with each of the characters! I love the hidden but not hidden life lessons that you learn in this book! I loved the plot of the book and feels like it flowed perfectly. I loved this book just as much as when I was a kid proving that is a timeless tale to red or listen at all stages

It has been almost 30 years since I first read this book as a child. This was the first full-length novel that I read as a child and loved. This book is where my love of reading started. Now, I have had the opportunity to share one of my most beloved books with my kids, and they truly enjoyed it. There were bits and pieces I picked up on as an adult that I missed as a child, and the storytelling is so rich and beautiful. I absolutely loved the audio with Alexis Bledel’s narration and her calming voice fit the folktale feeling of this glorious and nostalgic story. This book is a modern children’s classic for a reason.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio for allowing me to listen to and review this 50th Anniversary Edition ARC.

I didn't get a chance to read this book as a child, although I feel like this book is coming to me at a very good time in adulthood. I enjoy books that may not necessarily have a happy ending because they teach us about grief and why we want something to end "happily ever after". The themes of this book are still extremely applicable even though it was first published in 1975, and those themes can be digested by anyone of any age.
