What happens when 3 women find out their significant other is cheating on them? They band together to get revenge, of course. This book was not only hilarious but also heartwarming. I think my favorite part was that these women decided to not just band together but they formed a sincere friendship from something that would normally tear women apart. They shared things, bonded, & had each other's backs when things were against them.
If you love cozy, murder mystery with some comedy sprinkled in, then I highly recommend this book.

4.5 stars, rounded up ⭐️
This book was so cute and a fun little murder mystery! It also had me laughing out loud more than a few times. As a fellow woman in STEM, I could relate to Kat in so many ways. And I loved all the idiom origins- not only was I entertained, but I actually learned something!
It is a cozy mystery, so don’t expect any groundbreaking twists or being kept on your toes at every corner. The friendship and “live your life” themes were so sweet and a lovely reminder of what truly matters. The plot and pacing were excellent, the characters had dimension and were interesting, and overall it was very well written.
I listened to the audiobook and Carolyn Kang was such a great narrator! I’ll always be amazed when narrators can change their voices/tone so that each character has a unique voice and you can easily tell them apart.
As the book blurb suggests, this book is 100% a combination of John Tucker Must Die and a cozy murder mystery.
Thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Audio, and the author Gloria Chao for the ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club releases June 24!

This book is pure entertainment from start to finish. The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club blends laugh-out-loud humor with a twisty, satisfying mystery that never drags—even when you’re stuck in traffic. I listened to it on a long road trip, and the hours flew by thanks to the sharp writing, clever plot, and hilarious dynamics between the three main characters.
Kat, Olivia, and Elle make for a fantastic, chaotic trio as they try to clear their names after their shared ex turns up dead—and the story keeps you guessing (and laughing) the whole way through. Think Finlay Donovan meets John Tucker Must Die.
The narration by Carolyn Kang is engaging and easy to follow, making it perfect for audiobook listeners. Whether you’re looking for a summer read, a palate cleanser between heavier books, or just a fun, fast-paced mystery, this one’s a great pick.

This was so fun! I loved this little mystery and trying to find out who done it. The girls forming such a strong bond after what they found was perfect. The narrator is fantastic. I definitely didn't see the twist coming at the end. I will say the obsession with poop at the beginning is super strange lol.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the alc in exchange for an honest review.

An unlikely friendship trio is formed (Kat, Olivia, Elle) when they all figure out they’re involved with the same guy. They plot to get back at him, but discover something much more sinister when they break into his condo.
I always love a good cozy but when I see any story described as hilarious I take it as a challenge – However when one reader stated it reminded her of the Finlay Donovan series. I thought okay this just might be humorous.
Okay there were times it was funny. However, I was disappointed as it was not a cozy mystery - doesn’t fall under’ little or no profanity’.
I was disappointed on several levels.🤔

Not your mom’s cozy mystery—unless your mom likes her murder with a side of snark and her exes six feet under.
Kat’s having a day. You know, the kind where your boyfriend love bombs you… then you find out he’s also dating two other women… and THEN he turns up dead and the cops think you did it? Yeah. That kind of day.
What follows is a hilarious, fast-paced romp as Kat and her fellow exes form the most chaotic girl gang and try to solve the murder before one (or all) of them gets thrown in jail.
Full of sarcasm, sass, and laugh-out-loud moments, The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club is the perfect blend of mystery and mayhem. If you like your thrillers with a healthy dose of dark humor and badass female friendships, this one’s for you.
💫 4/5 stars – I came for the murder, stayed for the ex-girlfriend Insta-friends energy.

Kathryn Hu has the perfect boyfriend, Tucker, he understands her and is her best friend! She is ready for the next step in their relationship and surprises him at his place one evening and discovers it is set up for a proposal….. not for her.
Kathryn discovers she was one of three women he was involved with, and through a chain of events the three ladies become friends. One evening the women decide they’re going to prank Tucker with some of the worst pranks they can think of and when they do, they come across his body. Now they need to erase any trace of them being in his apartment before they become suspects.
The book is full of humor and suspense and few twists along the way. The characters are lovable and flawed and in some instances their worst enemy. I hated to see the book come an end - looking forward to what comes next!
Thank you to NetGalley for an early review of the book

I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long time.. It was a lot of fun to read and had several twists and turns throughout. I laughed out loud many times. All of the characters were relatable and enjoyable to read about (except Tucker for obvious reasons). I also did not expect the ending! I hope this is the start of a series, as I'm eager to see where Kathryn Hu ends up next. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. The narrator for the book was amazing and felt that they perfectly embodied Kathryn's personality and spunk.

You had me at laugh-out-loud murder mystery.
I thought I was in for a treat with this one. Who doesn’t love a Knives Out dark comedy vibe?
Even though I was laughing through the first chapter, the comedy didn’t last long and by chapter 4 I’m fed up with random little factoids about the origin of statements/idioms.
There was a neat little twist for hanging in though, so kudos for that.
Random thoughts captured while reading:
If I hear the words beta mercaptoethanol again, well…🤯 (spoiler-I heard them a lot more!) If I had an ebook copy I would’ve searched how many times it was said.
The conversations start out stunted, unnatural. When the people get more comfortable, they’re too comfortable for a group of people who barely know each other.
It tries hard to be funny but for me, it doesn’t continue to deliver.
Suspension of belief is required.
I didn’t love the narrator’s delivery, there’s dry wit and then there’s this.
For an FMC who is so book smart, Kat makes some ridiculous decisions to advance the story.
I know this will land right for many readers so make sure you still check it out if you’re drawn by the blurb.
With thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the advance listening copy.

I didn’t know what to expect when I read the summary of The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club, but I did not expect to like it as much as I did.
Three unlikely friends, all screwed over by the same guy, plot revenge. They break into his apartment to carry out their revenge plot, and while they are going through with their plan, they find him dead in the closet.
It doesn’t look good for them; they look guilty and are at the top of the suspect list. It’s up to them to solve the mystery, or else they will be the ones going down for the murder.
This was a fun, fast read. My only major problem was that I found the main character, Kat, to be rather unlikable. I also had to suspend my belief in reality when she was not arrested on the spot, the day the police found the body.
Despite these issues, this is a fun book that I would recommend to anyone.

Three jilted lovers. One dead ex. Let the investigation—and chaos—begin! This murder mystery is packed with romcom energy, dark humor, and some seriously wacky shenanigans. I couldn’t stop reading—it’s clever, hilarious, and unexpectedly heartfelt. Between the girl power vibes, ride-or-die friendship, found family feels, and a hot detective (yes, please), this book had me hooked from page one.
The plot was so smartly woven, full of twists and hilarious bad luck. The audiobook, narrated by Carolyn Kang, was chef’s kiss—she truly brought each character to life
What I loved most was how Gloria Chao balanced laugh-out-loud moments with real emotional depth. Each character felt unique and relatable, and the bond between the women was both chaotic and heartwarming. The twists kept me guessing, and just when I thought I had it figured out—boom! Another curveball. It’s the kind of book that’s both entertaining and empowering, with strong female leads who take matters (and murder investigations) into their own hands. This was such a fun, fresh take on the murder romcom genre—I’ll be recommending it to everyone!

This book reminds me of John Tucker must die but like he actually dies in this one. I loved it so much. I think Kat was a well rounded character and Olivia being by her side makes this even better. And then when we meet Elle? like I loved this. I thought the murderer was one person in my mind but the twist for me (mind u i don’t ever get plot twists in my mind correct idk how) but i enjoyed this. it was funny and sweet at time and also so somber. I want more of this and more of these three so bad.

really wanted to enjoy this more than i did because of the premise - ex-girlfriends getting revenge on the man they were all dating? here for that mess. but i felt like these women got over their relationship and became best friends basically overnight. then, the way they decided to take revenge on him was incredibly immature (literally smearing actual shit all over his house?? rubbing his toothbrush against their armpits?? are we twelve year old boys lol???). i also felt like they got away with way too much. you expect me to believe the detective on the case allowed them to continue amateur sleuthing? lol. okay. and our main character didn't think or act with any common sense. everything worked out so cliche and conveniently - she even ends up having a romance with the hot detective. really?? was that necessary?
i feel like i would have enjoyed more if we got all three pov's of the woman instead of just one. this was definitely a flop for me.

I thought the plot sounded fun, and it was at times. This is the kind of book I like when I need a little break from heavier books - something cozy, funny, a light read. This one did have all those things but something felt missing. Maybe it was a little too long and a little too ridiculous at times? the narration was good.

After reading some heavier books, I got the notification that my NetGalley request for this one was approved, and it was just what I needed. Light, easy to read, funny, silly, and just the right amount of absurd, but with good heart. I enjoyed all of the characters and the ridiculous shenanigans and relationships they found together. Also loved the malaphors!

I enjoyed this humorous story about three women dating the same man. They come together to prank him and find his body. Glad to hear this is the first of a series because I really enjoyed the characters!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for sending me an Advanced Listener’s Copy (my first ever!) of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I had originally applied for an e-book arc of this book but was unfortunately rejected. But when I saw it available in audio format, I tried again and was approved! I have had a lot of 3 hour road trips lately and needed something to keep me entertained so this came at the perfect time.
I really enjoyed this book and while I thought I knew who the real killer was for a good chunk of the book, I didn’t actually know until the last 30 minutes. And even then I was hungry for all the details especially in the last chapter/epilogue. This book had me so enthralled that after it was done I had to sit in my car for a long while just processing all of it.
I loved the different personalities from the three ex girlfriends and what they brought to the table. I did struggle a little bit with the narrator because while she was able to mostly give each woman a distinct “voice” there were times that I couldn’t quite tell who was talking. Especially when they were meeting in Liv’s townhouse sharing stories.
I really enjoyed way Kat’s brain worked especially when it came to the origins of idioms. It was such a quirky personality trait where I got to learn something while being entertained.
I wish there was more of an epilogue that would give a glimpse into Kat’s future now that she kind of knows what she wants. But I guess that’s the sign of a good book…I want more! I definitely will be buying this when it comes out and rereading it in physical form.
Check this out if you want a fun, girl power, hilarious, touching who-done-it mystery akin to the First Wives Club.

The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club was a fun, humorous mystery. My favorite parts of the book were the friendships and personal growth of the main characters. I enjoyed the audiobook narration.

I want to thank NetGalley, Gloria Chao, and Harlequin Trading Post for the hilarious murder mystery, *The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club*. When we first meet Kat, she is completely in love with Tucker, and aside from her job, everything seems perfect in her life. However, things take a turn during a surprise visit to Tucker’s place, leading to a surprise proposal, but it’s not for Kat.
Imagine three girls, each seeking revenge—different in their own ways but surprisingly similar at the same time. As I read this book, I found myself wishing I could be part of this club. The dynamics of this trio were unexpected and captivating. Let me tell you, I could go on, but I don’t want to spoil the fun of reading it. My jaw dropped at the end of this book! Add “ The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club” to your TBR list today, you will not regret it.
