Psycho Shifters was an interesting read in the best way. Sadie, formerly a slave but now an alpha shifter, has found herself in quite the predicament. With Jax, Ascher, and Cobra, all Alphas, training her and surrounding her at all times, she has to find a way to survive this new realm. I just have to compliment the narrators as they really brought out the best in these characters and gave them life in a way that reading alone I'm unable to do. I listened to this in less than a day and NEED the next audio to be out like yesterday.

I received an advanced listening copy of Psycho Shifters through NetGalley, and I’d like to thank the publisher for the opportunity. This book was a wild, chaotic, and surprisingly addictive listen. The storyline was fast paced and full of drama, exactly the kind of over the top shifter chaos I was in the mood for.

The writing had its awkward moments. Some of the dialogue felt forced, and a few scenes were a bit overdone, but that didn’t take away too much from the overall experience. The plot was fun, even if I saw most of the twists coming a mile away.

The full cast narration with four narrators was a definite highlight. Each one brought something unique to their role, adding energy, emotion, and personality that really brought the story to life. Their performances helped smooth over some of the rougher writing and made the audio experience much more engaging.

While it wasn’t the most polished book, it had strong entertainment value, and I genuinely enjoyed it. I’ll absolutely be continuing the series for the drama, the fun, and the escape.

🎧 ARC Review: Psycho Shifters
⭐️ Book: 3/5
🎙 Narration: 5/5

If you liked Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mass, this might scratch a similar itch. The FMC here has the same snarky, self-deprecating but badass vibe, and the MMCs? Initially jerks—but of course, they grow on you. (Hot jerks. Naturally.)

The real standout for me? The audiobook narrators—especially the male voices. They somehow ooze chemistry and charisma even when the dialogue is fairly tame. 10/10 on performance.

Content-wise, the story reads younger, like a YA in tone, but with mature spice. Heads up: the romance includes M/M pairings and scenes that some listeners might not expect, so just know that going in (it’s all consensual and in line with the characters, but worth mentioning).

Overall, while the plot didn’t hit quite as hard for me as Blood of Hercules, I am invested and definitely plan to continue the series. Already counting down to the next audiobook release!

Damn, how did I not know about this series before?! I just started- and then promptly devoured- Psycho Shifters, book 1 of the Cruel Shifterverse by Jasmine Mas; it is an enthralling, sexy, intense, and intriguing story!!

What you can expect:
🐅Alpha Quad RH - MFMM
🐍Shifters vs. Fae
🐏Military Training
🐻Queer Normative
🐅Dark Fantasy
🐍Slow Burn Enemies-to-Lovers?
🐏Multi-POV
🐻Mysterious Prophecy
🐅Spicy 🌶️ but Plot Driven
🐍CW
🐏Strong & Fiery, but Damaged FMC (S)
🐻Abused & Secretive MMC (XL)
🐅Playboy & Powerful MMC (XL)
🐍Protector & Dominant MMC (XXL)

Sadie is such an interesting and strong character. Coming from a place of insane cruelty, her combination of strength and mental fortitude, as well weakness and trauma, make her wonderfully complex. I so enjoyed how fiery and snarky she is, along with her incredibly dry and dark humor- I immediately loved her and became super invested in her. The consistency of Sadie's displays of her trauma, and the descriptions are very believable and add additional realness to her character.

Jax, Asher, and Cobra are a unique and varied bunch, and I love the balance of their very different personalities and backgrounds. The relationships between the three- and eventually as they start to develop with Sadie- are so fascinating. (And who doesn’t love an RH with true “group activities”, though that’s a guess for future books). The collective chemistry is insane, and I’m excited to see where their group’s relationships all go (also dying to see if Sadie is somehow an alpha-omega hybrid based on clues in book 1).

Listening to the audiobook was such a joy- Mollie Stark did an incredible job bringing Sadie to life. From her snark, raspy voice, and dry humor, to her moments of panic, anger, vulnerability, and drunkenness, the personification was so strong it truly felt like I was going through everything with Sadie, not listening to her story be told. I was so impressed with the range of tone and expression,… truly an outstanding performance! And the men! Jamie Lincoln Smith, Teddy Hamilton, and Jeremy York were perfect embodiments of the alphas. Each brought the unique personalities of Jax, Cobra, and Asher to life in a way that made it clear they really understood each distinct character and how they fit into the group. The chemistry and cohesion of the narrators’ performances was nothing short of excellent, and I am so glad I listened to the audiobook.

I greatly appreciate the NetGalley ALC from Harlequin Audio and Jasmine Mas- I seriously enjoyed this book and cannot wait for book 2!

I read Psycho Shifters by jasminemasbooks years ago but I recently was able to get the audiobook on netgalley with the re-release and boy did she not disappoint.

I love the sassy our fmc has. She's been through Hell but she's not afraid to speak up.

This is a slow burn why choose and all the narrators did a fantastic job on the audio.

I can't wait for book two to be on audio. Until then I'll read it because I need to k ow what happens next. (I've forgotten from the first time I read them)

Overall ★★★★★/5
Spice ☆/5 its coming but not in book 1.
Audio ★★★★★/5

Welcome to my latest obsession! The narrators for this audiobook were stacked! Mollie Stark was perfectly unhinged as Sadie. Jaime Lincoln Smith, Teddy Hamilton, and Jeremy York all brought their A game, making me fall hard for this psycho MMCs. I immediately had to jump over to KU and divoured the next 5 in the series in less than 2 weeks. The characters and their worlds have consumed me day and night. I can't wait to revisit this world when the next audio books are released!

4 out of 5 stars.
Shifters
Strong MMCs
Strong FMC
Smut (M/M, F/M)
Fantasy
Omegaverse

The story overall was good, for me it was a good read and I had no issue getting through the whole book, but there were parts in the story that had me literally wrinkling my nose in yuck or disapproval with what was going in the story. I did enjoy the FMC Sadie who is a strong sassy chick and I appreciated her perseverance in all that she has been through. Sadie is the kind of girl we would want to be our big sister, someone who is always looking out for you and who will fight for those who can’t, or shouldn’t have to fight, for themselves. Then there are the 3 MMC who are Alpha Shifters, Ascher – a VERY tattooed horned handsome man, Kobra – a gemmed (yes, literal diamonds and jewels about his body) gorgeous man with some snake-like features, and Jax – the leader like member of the trio who has quite a few piercings and can shift into a bear-like creature. We also meet Aran (who I really enjoyed from the beginning and love the OMG moment we get with this character in the end) and Zed who is a supportive friend to Sadie.
We learn there are various realms in this world including the Human Realm, Shifter Realm and the Fae Realm. In the shifter realm there are different kinds of shifters, Null Shifters; basically basic and bottom in their class system, then there are Betas, Alphas who are the warriors and Omegas who are immortal.

As stated above I had an audio version of this, I did very much enjoy the voice actors that were on this audio, I felt the intensity and emotions from each other them and appreciated the differences they each gave to the overall story.

“Psycho Shifters” is a good read if you enjoy shifter stories and don’t have issues with the trigger warnings. (abuse, blood, bullying, death, kidnapping, rape, SA, torture and violence) The book does end in a cliffhanger so be ready for the next one …. Psycho Fae.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved this audiobook! I’m a huge fan of duet narration, and I had no idea that was what this book was performed with. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators, and he absolutely nailed the role of Cobra. In fact, all of the readers did! Having a full cast of narrators really changes the way you experience the book, and I had a blast. I’m definitely going to continue the series as the narrations are released.

When a girl is abused all her life, only to find out she is an alpha female who learns that she can be strong and wanted too. This has some spicy moments and yearning.

Audio narration:
The female cast member for this book did a decent job of embodying the characters she narrated. She captured the YA element of the story in her diction and vocalizations.

The male narrator was not as strong of a performer. The narration felt flat and lacked any real emotional connection.

Literary elements:
I would categorize this book as YA as far as dialogue and character development goes. However, the themes and sexually explicit content seems inappropriate for a YA book, so I guess it would be a book tailored towards adults who enjoy YA type storylines rather than high school aged readers.

Storyline:
I found the story compelling and interesting. I thought the tension of a character finding out they are "special" in an unexpected way by societies standards was well played out in the tension between characters who had a tendency towards bigotry of people in her original position. I felt the author did a good job conveying the pack mentality of the alpha shifters and the protection they felt towards the main character was interesting, since she was strong, but they had that pack sense to protect the female alpha.

I did feel like the sexual tension would have been better left to the readers imagination rather than the way it was so explicitly written. It seemed almost juvenile, even though it was extremely mature adult content. I suppose the author may have attempting parody, but it fell flat for me and seemed unnecessary.

This book was an interesting combination of modern and fantasy. At times it was a bit confusing, but overall was a fun read. The characters were all unique and I especially liked Sadie and her fiesty attitude. I wish it had a different ending, but I'm guessing that's to entice the reader to continue the series. Not much spice until the end, but the parts that made me snort laugh make up for that.

The narrators each brought their unique talents to this work, helping me to better connect with the characters and bring the story to life. The narration kept me locked in from the beginning, and improved the overall experience of the book.

Jasmine Mas is a wonderful author. I love all these characters, as well as their growth and arcs. I really love the story and the narrators, who all did a phenomenal job. The characters were brought to life and I'm beyond excited to see where this story takes us. I don't give 5 stars lightly, but this deserved it (in my mind). I truly loved this story and will be following up with the 2nd book immediately ❤️

Psycho Shifters was a wild, entertaining ride from start to finish! Listening to this felt like getting front-row seats to an unhinged, hilarious, addictive shifter bootcamp.

Sadie's inner monologue is the perfect blend of sharp wit and genuine vulnerability. I love a heroine who isn’t afraid to roll her eyes at the absurdity around her, and Sadie does it with style. She had me cackling out loud more than once, her commentary about her towering, tattooed, horned roommates was absolutely priceless. Even when the stakes were sky-high, she kept this refreshing, snarky humor that made every scene sparkle.

And let’s talk about those psycho shifters: Jax, Ascher, and Cobra. Oh, they are something else. Part deadly, part infuriating, and 100% impossible to ignore. The tension between them and Sadie is the kind of crackling energy that makes you hit play next chapter before you even realize it. Whether they were sparring, bantering, or just driving each other crazy, every interaction was packed with chemistry.

I loved how this story balanced action and attitude. The training sequences were intense, but Sadie’s voice kept it fun instead of feeling grim. And without giving anything away, her big reveal? Chef’s kiss.

If you’re in the mood for something that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still delivers plenty of thrills, humor, and fierce heart, Psycho Shifters is exactly what you need. I can’t recommend the audiobook enough, the narration brought Sadie’s sass and the guys’ growly charm to life perfectly.

Absolutely loved it. Five stars of pure, unhinged, badass fun.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for this advanced listening copy, it made my week!

I devoured this audiobook! I was laughing and talking to the characters so my husband was shaking his head at me like I had lost it. At work blushing and giggling at parts. Cobra is my favorite but Jax is a very close second! Sadie has been through it but doesn’t stop. I absolutely need the next book on audiobook now. And the twist? All I have to say is someone best explain themselves and they better have a good reason. That’s all I am saying. Now to wait until January sadly for the Audio of book two because it’s easier with a toddler and I can enjoy it with less distractions.

I am certain that there are people out there who will love this book. I am certain of this because I took a trip around the internet and checked out the general vibe towards this book. It seems to be like catfish. Either you love it or you hate it and there is almost no middle ground. I however, am not one of the people who love this book. That being said, If you love this book or are looking forward to reading it, then I am truly happy for you. Not all books are for all readers. With that said, please don’t come at me if we disagree, because I wouldn’t do that to you.

Since I listened to the audiobook version I will start with the narrators and listening experience. The narrators are Mollie Stark, Jaime Lincoln Smith, Teddy Hamilton and Jeremy York.

The narrators themselves did an excellent job. They are only responsible for their performances and this book was likely difficult but they persevered. Every character had its own voice, which is important to me, as an audiobook listener.
So for Narration - 5 Stars.

Also, he cover is awesome that’s a solid 4 stars. Those two ratings are the reason the book received a 2 star rating overall, instead of a 1 star rating. Now, let’s talk about the book.

Psycho Shifters by Jasmine Mas was originally a self published work which is now traditionally published and released, including the newly recorded audiobook that I have just listened to. Given the success of Blood of Hercules, it seems her back catalog is getting a glow up. That’s wonderful for her and I wish her all the best. Even though I will not be reading more of her writing anytime soon.

The book is loaded with trigger warning worthy events, so please, please check them with other reviewers, on the publisher or author’s website or on your favorite review apps. The beginning of this book is difficult to read even if the events aren’t necessarily triggers for you. I can put up with a lot and there were times I had to walk away. So, again, please check the trigger warnings from trusted sources. I do not feel qualified to give you a comprehensive list.

In this book we are following Sadie who has had an awful life (to put it mildly). It gets worse before it gets better. One day a government/military official shows up to test her and find out if she’s a Null, Alpha, Beta or Omega (I think that was all of them). She turns out to be the first female Alpha. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of fanfare about that, which seems odd to me. She is taken away from her abuser and sent off to a portal area to defend it against the Fae. It’s like a military outpost, but much more chaotic.

All these Alphas, Betas, etc. are shifters. Everyone seems to be a distinct animal instead of the usual shifter book where they are all the same animal or there are different groups that all shift into one sort of animal. This could have been used for some interesting world building, but apparently we aren’t doing that in this book.

Sadie’s inner monologue is a constant stream of negative self talk. She barely eats, even when others try to make her eat. She may have some sort of eating disorder. If we turned counting the number of times she calls herself small, ugly, weak, etc we’d likely die of alcohol poisoning a third of the way into the book. That doesn’t include the verbal abuse she gets from everyone else in this book.

Sadie is taken in by 3 other Male Alpha’s, Jacks, Cobra and Archer (or Asher? Might be the latter. This is an excellent example of how forgettable these characters are). They are bullies so this is a “bully romance” in addition to being an open door why choose. I personally did not find a second of romance in this book. It’s basically bullying, fighting, self loathing, and random sex every where all the time.

We don’t know why they treat Sadie so badly. We don’t know why she won’t eat, we just have to assume. And really there’s no good explanation about defending themselves from the Fae or why the Fae want to get into their world and kill them all either, so there’s seriously nothing to get behind in this book. For all we know these characters are actually the villains.

There are a couple plot twists at the end which I did not see coming, but other than that there isn’t much of a plot and the characters are very flat. I don’t feel like we really get to know any of them well enough to be invested in them. The writing is poor, the plot is almost non existent, there is so little world building that I can’t even imagine what these places look like. The characters are outlines with no real substance.

I always want to find something to like in books I do not enjoy, but the narrators are all I’ve got for this one.

I’d like to thank Harlequin Audio for giving me an advanced listener copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions in this review are my own. As always, if I don’t like a book you will know it.

Psycho Shifters is dark, twisted, and completely addictive—a paranormal romance with alpha shifters, chaotic energy, and a no-nonsense heroine who takes zero crap. Sadie has lived her life being tortured. When she turns 20, she gets a shocking surprise and gets thrown into a world of danger, secrets, and possessive shifters who are as messed up as they are hot. The reverse harem dynamic is intense, the tension is constant, and there’s no shortage of spice.

Not your typical love story, but if you're into morally grey characters, enemies-to-lovers vibes, and a story that doesn’t shy away from the dark, you'll be hooked.

I loved this audiobook! The dual narration is excellent.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin audio for this ALC
This was a fairly easy story to follow. Easy world building. While I liked the story I wasn’t completely obsessed with it. I kept waiting for something more exciting to happen. Which I guess the ending was. It definitely piqued my interest tweets and I’ll be tuning into the next book for sure.

You might want to yeet yourself into this book (audiobook in this case) if you love shifter romantasy, ridiculous inner monologues, possessive MMCs,

I read Blood of Hercules earlier this year alternating between ebook and audiobook and was absolutely delighted with the comedy and writing style, but if I thought that was entertaining, Psycho Shifter kicked it up a whole other notch. Sadie’s inner monologues had me utterly wheezing and it’s certainly a good thing that no one is paying attention to how their socks are folded because my attention span was GONE and absolutely nothing got done, let alone the laundry being folded properly while I stared into space giggling like a child.

I’ve tossed on audiobooks before and let them do their thing over the span of a few days or even a few weeks if I didn’t find a lot of time to pop my headphones in, but this one, finished in one day. Send help, my brain is soup and I don’t even get the other books for months.

Rating: 4.25 ⭐️
Spice: 4.5 🌶️

Sadie was abused and lived like a slave for all of her life until she finds out she’s a shape shifting Alpha. She know lives in the Fae Realm with 3 roommates, Jax, Ascher, and Cobra. This book is a dark paranormal romance with reverse harem omegaverse bullying roommates to lovers. They are all fucking!!! This book is funny & weird and a little gross - these characters are very open about bowel moments! Haha

My thoughts: Psycho Shifters is a fun easy read especially because of the duet narration! I love a good duet! This one was fantastic! All the characters were so much fun. I will say I read Blood of Hercules and there are a lot of similarities here but it still felt like a different experience. Jasmine Mas is the voice of the people! She writes how a lot of people speak and if that is a problem for you then you won’t like this book. But if you realize that this is a writing style that’s new and fresh then it’s worth reading! I’m really happy for Jasmine Mas getting all of her work traditionally published! Excited for the rest of the series!

I have never been happier that this is a completed series!!

Sadie has spent her life as an abused servant. But that changes today. She’s discovered to be a shifter—and not just any shifter, but the first female alpha.

The problem? She’s small, considered weak, and underestimated by everyone. Now she’s living with three of the largest, angriest, most dominant (and aggravatingly beautiful) alpha males she’s ever seen. They despise her fragility. But they have no idea what she’s been through, what she’s survived, or what “the numb” voice in her head is truly capable of.

How is she supposed to live and train alongside them when all she wants to do is fight them? Worse… what if the only thing she’s fighting harder than them is her attraction to them? And how badly she truly wants them?

This audiobook was everything I love. Not only did it include multiple POVs, but the narrators actually voiced conversations together, which I adored. It was so well done.

Sadie is incredibly resilient, determined, and sarcastic. She’s been beaten down—literally—and feels insignificant and powerless, yet she never stops fighting. She’s mouthy, fiery, and still standing.

And the men… Jax, Cobra, and Ascher. Beastly alphas who are used to being obeyed. Then along comes this tiny, defiant force who challenges them at every turn, and they secretly love it. Slowly, obsessively, they begin to let her in, revealing glimmers of vulnerability. It’s addictive.

The story is a slow burn in all the best ways. The foundation has been laid with care, and an intricate, thrilling world is beginning to unfold. It’s one of those books you can’t put down. You need more. You want more.

And with that… review over.
Now go away; I have to start book two.
