Psycho Shifter – Book 1 in the "Cruel Shifterverse" series by Jasmine Mas
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️
Narrated by: Molly Stark, Jamie Lincoln Smith, Teddy Hamilton & Jeremy York
Why choose • Omegaverse • Age Gap • Shifters
I received the audiobook of Psycho Shifter from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review — and let me just say: the cast was phenomenal.
Special shoutout to Molly Stark, who voiced the FMC perfectly—her broken, raspy tone (a result of the character’s traumatic past) felt raw and authentic. The emotion all the narrators brought to this story really carried it and made it super engaging to listen to.
As for the story itself—this one leans plot-heavy for an omegaverse title, which honestly kept me intrigued. There are A/B/O dynamics, shifter lore, and an age gap (the MMCs are 100+ years old, our FMC is in her 20s), but the plot takes the wheel more than the heat does in book one. I wasn’t wowed, but I was definitely invested, and I’m now debating whether to read the rest or wait until the next two audiobooks drop in 2026 (😭).
Now let’s talk about that choice in the writing… 🫣
I never thought I’d have to say this in a review, but: did we really need graphic toilet scenes? Ten pages apart?
Here’s a glimpse of what I mean:
🧻 “While I sat on the toilet, my intestines screamed in agony as I suffered ballistic diarrhea.”
…and later:
🧻 “Yep.” I popped the p and debated if I should tell him about my ballistic diarrhea that day or if that was over sharing.”
So…was that necessary? Not even a little. But now that I had to hear it—you do too.

Let me preface this with I loved Blood of Hercules. This book... this book was not it for me. The narrator for the audio I just didn't like. The story made me roll my eyes so many times I was giving myself a headache. Maybe I didn't give the book a chance, but I DNF'D it at 12%. Life is too short to read/listen to something that didn't bring you joy. I'm sure there are there are lots of people who will love this book, but It was a swing and a miss for me. Thank you for the chance to read this book. I'm sorry I don't have a better review.

First of all, the full cast audio is FANTASTIC! I absolutely love an underdog story, and Sadie is 100% the underestimated unsung hero.
And the Alphas *swoon*. Bullies in the beginning, but they come around to our tiny female alpha pretty quickly. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here!

4.5 stars
I LOVE Sadie's personality! This whole series is being added to my TBR for sure.
The beginning of the book is a bit difficult to get through due to some personal triggers.
I noticed that the audiobook doesn't match what is on KU word for word. The audiobook version is better is more appropriate to the storyline to me. The cast they chose had great voices, that made the characters come even more to life for me.
I wish I had read this before Blood of Hercules by the same author. I recall a few details that felt repetitive between the two books. Also, some of the details are eerily similar to Broken Bonds by J. Bree. Not complaining, just an observation.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC.

Audiobook was amazing! Good build up to the next book! Love the MMC’s. Great dynamic between all the characters. So much to unravel and find out. Her size was mentioned sooo much! Might be because of who she is so when it’s revealed it make sense but like that much?? lol overall great first book of the series! Narrators were soooooooo good!

This was fun, not my favorite, but I enjoyed it. The story fell a little flat for me at times, but I am curious what will happen in the next book. The dialog felt a little juvenile at times and just pulled me out of the story. The narrators were all great! 3.5/5⭐️

Just finished Psycho Shifters by Jasmine Mas on audio and WOW, I did not expect to be this hooked 🐍 🐯 🐺✨
Huge thanks to NetGalley for the listen. I’m not usually a die-hard fantasy girlie, but this one pulled me all the way in. Jasmine Mas does such a killer job making fantasy characters feel raw, real, and totally relatable (which isn’t always easy when they shift into creatures, ya know? 👀).

I seriously can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series. I loved it so much I’m probably going to read the book in addition to listening, just to soak in every bit of the chaos and intensity. If you’re into morally gray alphas, strong FMCs, found family, and a wild ride of a plot, go grab this immediately. You will not be disappointed. Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go google fan art for this one…
🖤 Who’s your favorite psycho shifter of the pack?

5 stars for narrator
2.5 stars for the actual book...
What starts with so much promise quickly becomes a letdown. The book squanders its potential, it fails to balance the development of its characters, plot, and world-building. Instead of being swept away by a rich fantasy, you're left slogging through repetitive writing and a story that never delivers on what it could have been. Also, there were no trigger warnings in the copy I received, and while I don't usually need them it would have been nice to be warned about some of the scenes that happened in the beginning of the book. I dont like being blindsided by that kind of stuff.

Usually I’m not the biggest fan of why choose romances. However, this read has the perfect amount of spice with a truck load of plot. The world building is amazing, the characters are intriguing and I look forward to diving into each of these Alpha Shifters throughout the series. With four main characters, the audio having four narrators was a HUGE plus. Thank you for the arc listen and the opportunity to review!

I was very tentative going into this audiobook if we’re being honest. But I requested it from Net Galley because I read Blood of Hercules (my first book by Mas) and I had very mixed feelings about it. I enjoyed her writing style and the humor of book but I felt blindsided by the ending. It being intended or the fact that it was building to be a reverse harem/why choose situation was a shock to me. With that said, going into Pyscho Shifters, I was hopeful that this why choose would translate better and Sadie would have more of a developed connection with the three men. Listening to the book on audio made it so much better, I should’ve done that with Blood of Hercules and I believe it would’ve changed a few of my thoughts on it. I think that’s tone can be so important when you’re reading, and in a bully-esque romance at that, it changes your perspective a little when you listen to someone speaking in the way it’s intended. I actually enjoyed all three of the men, along with Sadie. When in the BOH, I only liked the girl and her snake.
This is actually my first Teddy Hamilton narrated audiobook and all those who told me about him weren’t kidding. That man could talk me out my drawers very quickly. Was super into Cobra, who I believe Hamilton narrated for. Was intrigued by Ascher, and Jax ended up just being whatever to me voice wise BUT I'm excited to get more of his character developed in the next book. I know that there's a story there and we're going to learn the depth of the alpha's power. The way the rest of the shifters fear him is so interesting but we're not there yet, which is fine. I don't mind a slow burn.
Loved the female narration in this one she actually had me chuckling out loud. Sadie's character was humorous and complex. Her back story is so tough and I love her connection with the men. Want to know more about her sister.. would actually like to encounter her in the next book. I was like WHATTTT at the end of this book. The plot twist was unexpected for me but I did expect that that man was being shifty-shady. Can't wait to find out about the psycho fae... and what about those beasts?
All in all, solid book. Accepting that I like me some Jasmine Mas. Her style is different but I always have fun!

Oh, what a ride this was! And honestly, I'm so glad I listened to the audiobook because I think it really made the experience all the better.
This story definitely had an interesting premise. While I never felt myself getting fully connected with the world and characters, I still found myself wanting to know more. I liked how Sadie had a unique relationship with each one of the guys, and I did enjoy the chaos she brought to their lives. Those three male alphas didn't know what to do with her, and it was entertaining. She did have me laughing quite a bit. I wasn't ready for this ending, and I'm definitely excited to see what comes next with this group!
The audiobook was wonderfully done. It was narrated by Mollie Stark, Jaime Lincoln Smith, Teddy Hamilton, and Jeremy York, and having the full cast truly brought the characters to life. I appreciated that each character had their own voice, which did help connect me more, and the narrators did a great job of hitting the banter.
Thank you to the author, Netgalley, and Harlequin Audio for the advance audio.

If you liked Blood of Hercules, then you will absolutely devour this book! Let's get this out of the way first thing...this is an omegaverse, why choose, BULLY romance. As in, the men are absolute douch bags to the FMC 90% of the time but also put anyone else who harms her in the grave.
Is this book an outstanding literary achievement - nope! Was is extremely addicting and an blast to read - heck yes! Yes, we have several stereotypes:
- FMC who is small, scared, considered weak, massive amounts of past trauma, "different" than all the other girls, etc
- MMCs who are abrasive, mean to the FMC, large/dark/broody, extremely handsome, looked on as gods, etc
We also get great sass, mental health reps, steamy spice and an interesting storyline that helps move everything along nicely. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book and will absolutely be reading book 2! I think it is all about setting your expectations and knowing what you are getting into in my opinion :-)

HOLY. ALPHA. 😮💨
Cobra? Shadow daddy? The Devil’s Ram?? THE BEAR?! The animals, periodtt 🐍🐏🐻🔥
The men? 10/10. No notes. Just feral energy and vibes I’m absolutely here for.
But let’s talk about her. The FMC? A mother trucking BAD. ASS. 💅🏼 She’s the whole damn show.
This was a 6 star read and I will not be taking questions. 100% perfection. Would read again, right now.

4⭐️🎧 Psycho Shifters was my first Jasmine Mas book and my intro to the alpha / omegaverse. I totally get the hype now…I ate Psycho Shifters up. Sadie is sarcastic, funny, and absolutely refuses to take crap from her alphas, despite being tiny … which might get mentioned a “handful” of times 😂. I loved her snarky inner monologue, it’s hilarious and surprisingly relatable. Each alpha brought something different to the table and I loved the way their dynamic with Sadie and each other played out🔥Whether it was tension, banter, or straight up bullying 👀 I was hooked. The mix of chaos, chemistry, and spice was perfection.
And that ending?? I was literally in my car yelling, “WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED?!” as the credits rolled. I need the audio for Psycho Fae IMMEDIATELY.
🎧 The audio is done in duet with four narrators: Mollie Stark, Teddy Hamilton, Jaime Lincoln Smith, and Jeremy York. Thank you to Harlequin Audio and NetGalley for the ALC. All thoughts are my own.

2.5 rounded up for the well done full cast audio version.
First off big thanks to Netgally for providing the new audio book version for review. Psycho Shifters has been on my TBR for years so when I saw the new audio version for review I jumped on it. I’ll start with the audio. It’s fantastic, and I always love Teddy Hamilton so that was a plus. I really enjoyed everyone having their own narrator and I do think that made the story for me.
That’s the good, the audio. The story itself was interesting but I can already see plot holes a mile wide. I feel like this is a surface level enjoyment, maybe with the next books we will get more details of this world but based on reviews for the next two books I worry. I may actually wait until the full cast version of the next book before continuing. I did however devour this in one afternoon so it’s a quick listen.
Ultimately, would I recommend? Maybe. It really does depend on the next book, it’s hard to want to commit to a series you are iffy on, but the cliffhanger left me wanting more, so I guess I’m onto the next.

DNF at 33%
Unfortunately, this one was not for me. I went into this one blind. All I knew was that it was PNR. Based on what I listened to, I know that this is going to be reverse harem and unfortunately, I don't like any of the MMCs. Jax was halfway decent but I honestly didn't want her to be with any of them. Sadie was very boring. She has trauma that she has to overcome but other than that she had no real personality. I just came to realize after multiple hours of listening that I didn't care for any of the characters and I'm not quite sure what the plot was supposed to be.
side note: the narrators for the audio did a great job.
Thank you to Harlequin Trade and the author for these gifted ALC and finished physical copy.

I’m still cackling 🤣 this book was HILARIOUS! While it did have some dark topics- the FMC suffers from panic attacks and anxiety due to abuse, as a child and through her 20th birthday, the author handled these serious topics well and the narrators did a wonderful job bringing the story to life!
You’re gonna laugh and you’re gonna cringe, but you’re gonna have a damn good time!
Available NOW!
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the advance copy!

This was a fun, chaotic read. Glad I was able to listen to this duet-style audiobook because, honestly, I probably would not have picked it up to read physically. The banter by the narrators was done well. This was a good time.
It's not everyone's kind of book, but I'm glad I took a chance on it.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the duet audiobook.

I read this book last year on my ereader, and when I saw that there was an audiobook coming out, I was incredibly excited, but when I heard there was an audiobook with MULTIPLE NARRATORS?! I near lost my mind.
And let me tell you - this audiobook blew my mind.
I absolutely loved being able to hear each character's unique voice, and the narrators absolutely killed it.
Mollie Stark, Jaime Lincoln Smith, Teddy Hamilton and Jeremy York all gave each character a unique feel, and I loved listening to every single second of this book.
The story is also just so good and feels very unique, and even as someone who read this book previously, I felt like I was listening for the very first time again.
Thank you so much to HTP books and HarperCollins for sending me this ALC!

Wow, this audiobook was FUN. It's so much fun that I'm dying to listen to the rest of the series on audio, but I'll have to read them immediately while I wait. Very reminiscent of the style of Zodiac Academy, I found myself laughing and cringing my way through. Have already recommended this to my whole book club, and will just have to wait patiently for the next audios.
