"’d heard about Psycho Shifters from several close friends who couldn’t stop talking about it, but for no particular reason, I just hadn’t gotten around to reading it. With the re-release coming up, I figured it was finally time to see what all the fuss was about—and I am so glad I did. This book pulled me in fast with its bold mix of spice, suspense, and fantasy. The world has a fascinating setup with an alpha-beta system: alphas can shift, betas wield other forms of magic, and then there are the characters with no abilities at all—yet they still play a major role. Add in romance, mystery, and some seriously tense moments, and I was hooked.
I tore through this book. The slow-burn suspense between certain characters was really well done, and there were definitely some steamy scenes that turned up the heat without overwhelming the plot. The story has layers—from secret pasts to power dynamics—and it all builds toward a killer cliffhanger that left me wanting more. The only downside? I now have to wait a whole year for the next installment. If you’re into edgy, magical, character-driven romantasy with strong pacing and tension, Psycho Shifters is one to put on your radar.

Went into this blind AF. Just saw an audiobook by this author (love her) with narrators I liked, and it was a romantasy. I was like uh yes please! Im down. First the book has some pretty dark themes, which isnt surprising because of the dark humor that is present in blood of hercules (which I loved). It does have some open door spice too. Not many scenes though.. So check those TWs. The romance is burning slow, but the why choose vibes are burning hot. The book is Suspenseful, with lots of mysterious vibes going on. It also moves at a pretty quick pace. The ending kind of came out of left field (some parts I did see coming, as the book gave hints), and I was like wth. It has the whole academia/war training environment too. On top of this being an omega-verse. I love omega-verses. Honestly I can’t wait to see where the author goes with this series. The cliff hanger ending has me wanting book 2 asap!
This Fantasy Romance is book 1 in the Cruel Shifterverse. The book does have some darker themes, so check those TWs. This book is set in an omega-verse. The romance is a potential for a why choose. The book does have some open door spice. Which means those spicy scenes are descriptive. Sadie has always assumed she was nothing. But shes not. Now she has to prove her worth to them. Jax, Ascher, and Cobra do not believe she is strong enough. They believe she was a mistake. She is going to prove them wrong. Prove them all wrong. The is a fast paced, and exciting read.

I really enjoyed this book! The story was interesting and I can’t wait to see where it leads. The FMC is strong and witty which made me chuckle throughout the book. The MMCs are all a bit unhinged but I liked all of them. I enjoyed the banter and snark throughout the book. The narrators were all good and Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorites!

The narrators of this audiobook were phenomenal. I looked forward to listening to this book mostly for their performance.
I went into this book somewhat blind - I expected romance and some political intrigue. There was a bit of both, but with so many twists and details thrown in I'm still not sure what happened. It's a little why-choose, a twist on omegaverse, and a little chosen one. Mas does a fantastic job bringing up new questions, but this book lacked answers. I'm going to skip the rest of this series, but loved the narrators of this book.

I LOVE jasmine mas so much. Her writing is so incredibly addictive and bingeable. Pyscho shifters is hilarious and I had the absolute BEST time reading it. Truly amazing and I can’t wait to read book 2!

Five billion stars. This was such a silly, emotional, action packed read! If you loved Zodiac Academy, you’ll LOVE Jasmine Maas books! I’ve only read one ZA book, but very much the same vibe. In Jasmine’s bio she says she writes “funny romantasy” and I could not agree more. I would add that this is very much Omegaverse but in a dark romantasy that includes Fae and other fantastical creatures way.
I had been seeing this book everywhere before it got picked up and I just never got to it. But I am so glad I waited because listening to it on audio was the way to go! The extensive cast of narrators rocked it! I was completely immersed in the story!

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this ALC in exchange for an honest review!
The audiobook was AMAZING! Having a full cast for an audiobook is always a win in my opinion and the narrators in this ALC killed it! I honestly wished this book was longer, I didn't want it to end. Great pacing, good plot, interesting worldbuilding, amazing tension between characters. All of it was great.
Even though I want to wait for the next audiobook in the series, I might need to read the rest of this series on KU. I just need to know what happens next.
What to expect:
Omegaverse
Shifters
Hate to secretly obsessed
Strong and badass MC
Snarky and sassy FMC

In this world, your place in society is determined by your rank—you’re either a Null, Beta, Alpha, or Omega. Sadie begins her journey as an indentured servant, but everything changes shortly after her 20th birthday when it’s revealed that she’s not just an Alpha—she’s the only female Alpha in existence. Thrust into a completely different life, she finds herself dumped at the gates of the Fortress, where she meets three powerful and imposing Alphas: Jax, Cobra, and Ascher.
Sadie is a strong and admirable FMC, especially considering the trauma she endured in her childhood. She’s fearless, outspoken, and fiercely protective of those she cares about—even willing to sacrifice herself for them. Her resilience and defiance in the face of overwhelming odds make her a compelling lead.
Psycho Shifters is a fast-paced, dark, urban paranormal fantasy romance. While the spice level between the FMC and the MMCs is relatively low in this installment, there are some intense, steamy moments between the MMCs themselves. I appreciated getting insight into each character's perspective, particularly the internal struggles the MMCs face. Their tension toward Sadie—trying to resist her while being instinctively drawn to her—adds depth to their dynamic.
That said, the transitions between scenes could have been clearer. Some parts of the plot felt repetitive, and I found myself wanting more story development overall. Still, the engaging character dynamics helped carry the narrative forward.
The audiobook narrators did a fantastic job bringing this world to life. Their performances added energy and emotional weight, making the story even more immersive and enjoyable.
Thank you to Shameless Romantics, NetGalley, and Harlequin Audio for the ALC.

I enjoyed the narration of this story, however the book itself not for me. I was intrigued by the synopsis so figured I'd give it a shot. not to say that other people won't absolutely eat it up, it is entertaining

Let me please introduce you to the book series I read when my mental health is in the gutter. I will forever and always relate to Sadie’s inner thoughts and workings because I am her and she is me. After originally reading the indie published edition of Psycho Shifters, I have been enjoying the updated/edited version just as much.
BUT LETS TALK ABOUT THE AUDIOBOOK! The casting? Perfect. Phenomenal. Couldn’t have asked for any better. This audiobook is truly a blessing to my ears. I am absolutely DYING for the rest of the series to release audiobook wise so I can read my favorite comfort books on the go.
I now feel the need to reread the rest of the series so there’s that!

Thanks so much to Harlequin Audio and Netgalley for providing this audiobook arc!

This book was just okay for me. There is a lot of emphasis on how tiny the FMC is and how massive all the MMCs are, which felt repetitive after a while. Honestly, if you’ve read Blood of Heracles, you’ll notice quite a few striking similarities, almost like some major plot points were copy pasted.
I also found myself confused by the number of different names used for the FMC. It was hard to keep track, and that took me out of the story. Overall, not much happens in book one. It didn’t feel like a strong setup for a six book series. Instead of solid world building, there was a lot of repetition.
The smut didn’t really work for me either. The frequent mentions of knots and slick were off putting, though that’s definitely just a personal preference.
Bottom line: pick this up if that sort of thing appeals to you. I’m grateful to NetGalley for the ALC. The narration was solid; I just didn’t connect with the story.

Thank you to the author, their publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced audio copy of this book.
We are introduced to this world and the difficult life the FMC and her sister have endured. She is taken from this horrible home and tested to see what kind of shifter she is. Turns out she is the first known female alpha shifter.
She is not returned to the horrible life she came from, but dropped at one of the portals that need protected from other creatures or fae entering.
She is quite small, so everyone is skeptical that she is an alpha. She gets tormented by some of the beta shifters. That is when the alphas have her room with them. She’s thrown into training and still has yet to shift, so everyone has their doubts.
One day, there is a creature that has come through the portal that they must defeat to keep from entering the shifter world. She hides far back from the fighting. Eventually everyone seems to be struggling and her shifter instincts kick into high gear and she goes after the created to help save one of the other alpha shifters.
She continually gets teased by the other alphas, with the exception of the leader. Even the betas still tease and torment her. She makes friends with a beta shifter. Things start to look up.
The book ends at a party where several secrets are exposed… and ends on a cliffhanger. You’ll have to read to find out!
One of my dislikes was the constant need of the FMC to remind us that she has all these scars from home, where she was tortured and beat. She can’t be seen without clothes, because then everyone will think she’s weak. It got pretty annoying after a while.
I hope we learn more of what is going on in the next books, because this one felt like there was a lot of fluff and not a whole lot of explaining.

I'm so sorry but I couldn't stand this book. I'm disappointed because I wanted to read Blood of Hercules with all the hype, but now I'm not sure this author is the right fit for me. Let's get into it. The FMC is annoying. She has a tragic past but is constantly being described as so tiny, so smol, while everyone else is so big, so strong. It's hard to believe she is a (young) adult when she acts like a child. And then the MMCs are all infuriating, minus one who is actually decent. The plot twist at the end was a little confusing but I have no desire to continue the series.
I will say that the audiobook had a full cast and they all did a phenomenal job.

After 20 years living as a null in the Shifter Realm, Sadie’s entire life turns upside-down when she learns there’s more to her than she ever expected. Thrown into a shifter training fortress, Sadie soon finds herself stuck with 3 gigantic - not very welcoming - alphas for roommates who are immediately suspicious of her while constantly underestimating her.
I originally read the Cruel Shifterverse series in 2023, and was incredibly excited to hear the first three books were picked up by a publisher. I enjoyed it back then, and I enjoyed it again today, possibly more so because I experienced it as an audiobook this time around.
The voice actors for the audiobook were amazing. They did such a wonderful job embodying the characters and really made their personalities shine through.
Jasmine Mas knows how to write an entertaining story. I live for her snarky, sarcastic FMCs and broody, grumpy MMCs.
Sadie was an entertaining, hilarious main character. I loved her sassiness and the banter that ensued between her and the other Alphas. It was fun to watch how she came out of her shell a bit and grew from the girl she used to be as the book went on. I’ll also always love her friendship with Aran. She needed a bestie like Aran to help navigate and survive the next chapter in her life and the two of them make me so happy.
The Alphas were also really fun - although I will say, Ascher will likely get under your skin with some of the things he says/does. Jax and Cobra were awesome though. I love their dynamic and how they change/grow throughout the book.
Thank you so much to HTP Hive, HTP Books, MIRA Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book in advance. All thoughts are my own. 💗

4.5⭐️ oh this was FUN!! Ate this up in a day and was exactly what I needed! Hot alpha shifters, omegaverse, knotting, an unhinged and sarcastic heroine that Jasmine writes so well, and a mystery that has me impatiently waiting to dive into book 2 as soon as humanely possible!
While the rest of the series is available on KU, I did an immersive reading because these are getting republished traditionally with a full cast duet style audiobook that was to die for! And in trying to immersive read, I did notice how much editing went into this rerelease so I will be torturously holding off until the next book comes because the edits truly made the book so much more enjoyable!

This book was so much fun! 🖤 I loved having different narrators for each character—it made the audio experience even more immersive 🔥.
Shifter romances and reverse harems?? 🥵 Yes please. The MM scenes were chef’s kiss and don’t even get me started on the tattoos and piercings 😏😏 if you know, you know.
It’s wild, sexy, and addictive—the perfect escape if you love spicy paranormal with power plays, possessive love interests, and badass female leads.

What an incredible cast of narrators for such an incredible book!!!! This made me SO happy & I absolutely devoured this reread because of the audiobook.
This series has my heart, just like anything Jasmine releases. I am waiting on BATED BREATH for the rest to release!!!!

I could not put this one DOWN! It was incredible and I knew it would be with Jasmine and the set up of the world and the building and I just need more immediately. I can't believe it has taken me so long to find this series and so glad that it got picked up and will be in book stores everywhere to get more attention.

Thank you so much for this ARC/ ALC for my honest review! I loved this book so much! I'm left needing more asap. I can't wait to continue. The fmc is hilarious and the duet narration was amazing!
