This book is WILD. I have truly never read a main character like Lillian. The author does a fantastic job of writing an incredibly narcissistic character while playing into the humorous aspects of the situation.
I had to put this book down a few times because Lillian kept making things so much worse for herself.
I’m very excited to read more by this author. She has a fresh voice and writes about situations that I think people in their 20s can really relate to.
I think people are going to rave about this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam for providing this book, with my honest review below.
A Good Person is one of the most entertaining female sociopath stories out there. Lillian is clearly off and should not be getting into relationships, and while it’s not exactly a mutual one she finds herself in, she finds it breaking down after 4 months… and Henry, her ‘boyfriend’ dead. Kristen King does remarkable work introducing us to Lillian and her relationships while keeping the main action in the plot, the investigation into Henry’s death, unfolding in an entertaining way.
A Good Person is a really unique standout, it may have come after many that have strived to capture the magic here but it feels like a book others hope to follow.

I almost didn't finish this book...and then I couldn't stop thinking about it. I spent two days resisting, then I came back and read the entire second half in an evening. A GOOD PERSON gives readers an impossible-to-ignore invitation: "Ever wonder what's going on inside the head of a total sociopath? Yes? Great, let's go!" Lillian is truly, in every way, the worst. And yet I had to know what she'd do next. It's quick, it's twisty, it's casually wrong in every way, and it just works.

I suspect this is going to be a love it or hate it kind of book--no one is going to walk away thinking it's fine. I loved it--Lillian is the kind of protagonist you want to just strangle a little every time she makes a decision, but the book is so fast paced and fun that it's almost impossible to put down.

So Lillian does not make good decisions in this book. Since as of right now there is no synopsis on the book page I will not give why. This is a well written story with a unhinged main character. This was funny and cringe worthy at different times. There were twists throughout. This book is highly entertaining and for sure a book you will not want to put down!

Oh Lillian, she's a woman on the verge and perhaps one of the best-written female characters I have read in YEARS. Kirsten King created a wholly three-dimensional world with unique yet, unfortunately, sometimes relatable characters that spin you around in their webs. I woke up at 6am to finish it before going to work because I had to know the ending. RUN DON'T WALK TO READ THIS INCREDIBLE DEBUT!!

This book hooked me immediately and I finished it in a single day. It's like a trainwreck in the best possible way - you can't look away as Lillian, the protagonist, makes terrible decision after terrible decision. She's simultaneously funny, tragic, distressingly relatable at times, and tremendously screwed up. I enjoyed this one very much.

An absolutely stellar debut. I'm not sure I've ever hated the main character of a novel more and I absolutely couldn't wait to see what hell she was about to cause for herself and everyone else next. Truly the new definition of "unhinged." King is going to be one of the breakout litfic voices of 2026, I'm certain of it. Genuinely laugh out loud funny and truly horrific.

I received a copy for review. All opinions are my own. Wow this book was wild and full of twists as the story unfolded. I was shocked and on edge from Lillian’s behavior throughout but also related to her in certain ways like how we all have the ability to let ourselves spin out of control. I found myself guessing the outcome till the very end. If you’re looking for an entertaining yet thrilling twisty read, this is the book for you to read next!
