Thank you, Entangled Publishing, for the ARC.
I really wanted to read this book in one sitting but had to go to bed early, or I would be a zombie at work. So, I finished the book on the train. I had to keep my emotions under control, or people would stare at me.
The first part of the book is kinda slow-paced, some playful banter between the main characters. But then, the last part was fast-paced and so gripping. I rarely read paranormal books, which is a shame cause I really enjoyed this story. I am definitely going to read more of this genre later this year!
So, if you like the supernatural, deals with demons and romance with some spice, then this book is for you!

Infernal Hearts is a queer paranormal romance that’s between a magical doctor named, Jason, and an incubus named,Levi.
This book is full of wonderful banter. If you’ve watched Ouran High School Host Club, you’ll notice that Levi is pretty similar to Tamaki.
I love how hilarious Levi is and how his personality is the ying to Jason’s yang.
Overall this book is a wonderful read, especially if you love queer rep, electrifying chemistry, and a hilarious incubus.
I would like to give a special thanks to entanglement publishing and netgalley for giving me this opportunity to read this arc, and I would also like to thank Danny for trusting me with his debut.
For me, this was a five star read.

Jason has been training his whole life under the wing of his father to heal magical creatures, but after the death of his mother, he no longer has any interests in that world. He just wants to start his own veterinary private practice and live a normal life, no more magic. However, when the demon, Levi, bursts into Jason’s life one night in immediate need of healing, he makes an exception and saves Levis life. Turns out, Levi has two weeks to find his brother, otherwise, he dies. Levi then makes a deal with Jason. Together, they will try to find Levi’s brother, and in exchange for Jason’s help, Levi will help find Jason’s recently missing father. So, they make the deal and team up. However, feelings start up on both sides of this team, but can they navigate their feelings and find their missing loved ones in time?
Wow. This book was unexpectedly good. After the first few chapters, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. This had a different story than anything I have read this year! I liked how different it was. At first, the pacing seemed really slow, but the more I read it, the faster it seemed to go. The writing style flowed nicely, and the characters grew on me. It was a great read.

This was not on my radar before I got the opportunity to receive a copy of the eARC. I mean, when I hear magical romance between a ‘magical doctor’ and a incubus sounded right up my alley. And it ended up being a fun read.
Levi and Jason were fun to follow around, especially because of how much of flirt Levi is. If he breathes, he flirts. It was fun to see them get to know each other and eventually fall for each other. I really liked those two, and they were probably my favorite part of the book.
Now, I do have to say that there isn’t much world building, and there were moment that didn’t flow as much when it wasn’t with Levi and Jason, so I would say that if you are not looking for a cute supernatural romance, this might not the book for you. Still, I had a fun time reading it, and I’m looking forward to see what comes next from Danny Haliwell.

I really wanted to like this one but it just didn't work for me.
This book reads like a short story that was expanded into a short novel. There's nothing really wrong with adapting a short story into a novel but when I say it specifically feels like it originated as a short story, I mean that the worldbuilding and character development are lacking. I had a hard time connecting with these characters and caring about them.
Neither the paranormal elements or the mystery felt fully fleshed out to me. I think if the mystery was a little more prominent it would've held my attention and the lack of magical background wouldn't have mattered as much but the mystery sleuthing doesn't really pick up until 60% into the book. Up until then we basically know nothing. On the plus side though it was still a quick read so it wasn't as drawn out as it would've been in a longer novel.
There's also a side character that pops up here and there throughout the story who suddenly becomes part of the main plot for the last 3rd of the book. That wouldn't be an issue if they didn't show up and essentially replace one of the main characters for a whole scene randomly. It felt like a weird choice to me and only truly existed as a catalyst for certain events. I'm not mad about it, but it seemed like it was forced into the story rather than flowing like you'd want the story to be.
I did like the misunderstood demon microtrope. That can be fun to play around with and I think the author definitely had some fun with it. Using an incubus was an interesting choice too and I liked the way Levi was sexually charged as soon as he was around Jason. It gave off the incubus vibes without going the full extreme. His power was decently developed but I didn't find it to be all that intriguing either.
This sort of reminded me of some monster romances I've read and I think if you go into it like you would a silly little sentient object romance or Ice Planet Barbarians, it would probably be a good time. (Keeping in mind that it's a slow burn.) I was expecting something more developed and interesting in regards to the world and/or the plot. Probably a case of mis-marketing as I do like monster romance but the synopsis I read alluded to a more developed world and story.

A cute queer paranormal romance, the story of an incubi (demon) in search of his brother and a small town magical doctor trying to leave behind a magical practice handed down by his father.
The demon (Levi) only has 2 weeks to live if he doesn't find his brother, a command by his Maker on his death bead, leads Levi to a small town where an attack leaves him wounded and at the magical doctor's (Jason's) doorstep.
Jason strikes a deal to help find Levi's demon brother and in turn asks for help finding his lost father.
They go a magical journey filled with deceit, magical creatures and danger lurking every corner.

I loved this book! The storyline was so unique and I couldn’t put this one down! I absolutely adore Levi and his personality. I didn’t see the ending of this one coming and I was honestly shocked by the plot twist! I definitely recommend checking this book out!

3.5 stars - A fun, cutesy paranormal romance that involves a skeptical magic doctor and a cocky incubus? Sign me uppppp
Infernal Hearts is the story of Jason, a doctor who happens to be able to handle magical maladies, and Levi, who is a magical malady himself. They both need help finding people in their lives, so they begrudgingly team-up to find their respective loved ones.
The writing style was easy to read and understand, and Danny Haliwell does a great job of making you like the characters together. I honestly did not like Levi at first, but after his and Jason's first heart-to-heart I was sold on their romance.
At times the pacing seemed a bit off, but that could just be page count - I honestly would have easily read another hundred pages of this, especially for the bits at the end.
Oh, and that plot twist at the end? You got me there Danny, you got me there. Such a good twist.
Overall an enjoyable, spicy good time - and I do mean spicy. But I mean c'mon, Levi is an incubus, what do you expect? It was excellent.
Thank you so much to Entangled Publishing, NetGalley, and Danny Haliwell for sending me this eARC <3

I loved the world, main characters, and side characters! I loved Jason’s and Levi’s dynamic from the start! 💕 The chemistry between him and Jason was undeniable, and their banter had me grinning from ear to ear - I was rooting for them the whole time. They had a lot of push and pull in their relationship, which made it super compelling. And, bonus! The book also has a mystery element.
I appreciated how everything came together in the end, and the epilogue was a delightful conclusion. The magical elements and intriguing mystery made this a quick and enjoyable read. I liked how some twists were predictable while others caught me off guard.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing and Amara for the @netgalley eARC in exchange for my honest review!
Jason wants to be a veterinarian. Your regular, run of the mill veterinarian—not a doctor to magical creatures, like his father has trained him to be. Starting his own practice meant cutting contact (and losing his boyfriend in the process) and 3 months later, Jason is finally settling in. That is, until Levi shows up on his doorstep. Levi is handsome, WAY too flirty… oh, and he’s an incubus who needs help finding his long lost brother or he’ll die in two weeks. When Jason’s father also goes missing, the two make a deal to help each other—but deals with demons often go awry, especially when the demon in question wants nothing more than to get you into bed!
I absolutely love the concept of a magical doctor masquerading as a veterinarian, and it’s easy to feel for Jason, a genuinely selfless man trying to pursue his dreams in the face of his father’s disapproval. I typically expect the grumpy x sunshine trope in human/demon paranormal romances (which, though I enjoy, can feel overdone) but much to my delight, Levi is surprisingly sweet and sensitive for a powerful sex demon, and is made even more likeable by his genuine respect for and attraction to Jason’s kindness. Their relationship develops quickly but believably, and I appreciated Halliwell’s ongoing emphasis on communication, consent, and safe s3x, which only serves to intensify the *ahem* spicier intimate moments.
Where Infernal Hearts falters, though, is through its worldbuilding and plot development. Readers aren’t given enough scaffolding or backstory to understand how each character’s magic works, and some story beats felt intentionally placed, like we’re catching one too many glimpses of the author pulling strings in the background. Though the final twist was certainly surprising, it felt somewhat unearned without more foreshadowing throughout the book, and while I loved Levi and Jason’s banter, non-romantic dialogue skewed toward stilted.
Despite struggling with the fantasy element, I undoubtedly enjoyed watching Levi and Jason’s relationship unfold, and don’t regret spending a few hours in their world. So if you’re someone who favors romance over plot and is looking for a fun, steamy, queer paranormal romp—Infernal Hearts could be a great pick for you!

This unfortunately was a DNF for me. I love character driven stories and I could not connect with the main characters in this at all. It honestly hurt my heart. I found the characters, not the writing, pretty juvenile. I read alot of YA fantasy, and for the most part younger characters are palatable. I think this will absolutely find its target audience and from what I read, it was written well, I just do not think I was the target audience for it unfortunately. Due to the fact that I DNF'd for my own personal preferences and not based on poor writing or storyline, I will still be providing a 3 star rating.

This was such an amazing paranormal queer romance! Levi was absolutely hilarious and the banter had me smiling and kicking my feet! Levi and Jason’s chemistry together was undeniable! The world itself was so unique in every aspect and had a great mystery to unravel that kept everything moving. I highly recommend!
A very big to Entangled Publishing for the gifted ARC!

4 stars
Infernal Hearts is a witty and engaging paranormal romance with great chemistry between Jason and Levi. The dislike-to-lovers (not quite enimies) tension and supernatural intrigue kept me hooked throughout. I enjoyed the humor and the steamy moments, though I wished for a bit more world-building and depth in some areas. Overall, a strong debut and a great book!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

Infernal Hearts is a Queer (M/M) Romance with two MMC's that I challenge you not to love. Levi, an incubus hunting for his incubus brother and Jason, a human who works as a Vet but knows of the magical creature that also exist in the world searching for his missing father, are both brilliantly funny and lovable characters. Jason had to grow on me a bit, because he kind of just seemed very ordinary (which I get is the point!) whilst having a very odd adverse reaction to anything magical. Levi on the other hand, had my heart from the get go - I loved his banter and personality. And when they are on page together, they're hard not to love!!
Our two MMC's join together after realising that as they're both trying to find a missing love one, they may be able to help each other. And whilst the writing style itself wasn't totally for me - as it, to me, felt like it did more telling than showing in places - the story itself had me hooked. I loved these two MMCs being forced to work toghether despite their differing opinions and ways of doing things... Watching them work together and slowly become open to each felt really rewarding.
The way Danny Haliwell portrayed different magical creatures, whether the main characters, or the ones we got snippets of, did feel unique! For example, we briefly meet a Pheonix, and I really liked this version of the magical creature. Haliwell is clearly imaginative as he's able to put twists on magical creatures we already know and love.
This was a fun fantasy romance, with entertaining MMCs, excellent chemisty and a decent plot! I'm really glad I got to read this - and if Danny writes other work, I'll likely pick them up too! And also, can we have a quick moment to appreciate how beautiful this cover is? I'm a sucker for a beautiful cover!

A Incubus in search of his brother, a vet with a secrets, and the unlikely romance between them. Jason wants nothing to do with his father's world of magical medicine after his mother died, instead he's turned to becoming a regular veterinarian and distanced himself as far away from magic as possible... yet when he's awoken in the night by Levi, a incubus searching for his missing brother, Jason can't help but help him. Levi is tired of being an incubus and thought he'd finally been freed after his maker died.. only to find out his maker left him one last dying command: find his brother, and if Levi fails he'll die. When Jason's father also goes missing around the same time, they both decide to work together to find them... yet the more time they spend together the closer they grow... but Levi is planning on leaving after he finishes his maker's last command... and can Jason open his heart up to a supernatural being after all? This was such a fun and easy read. It's got fun banter between the two characters and the romance is a slow build. It's more of a "on the road"/ "solving the mystery" kind of vibe and I definitely enjoyed it. It wraps everything up nicely and overall its definitely a fun paranormal romance read.

Infernal Hearts is a queer MM supernatural romance that brings together our two MMCs, Jason and Levi. At the beginning of the story Jason has decided to leave his father's (supernatural/magical) veterinary practice, leaving magic behind after it cost him his mother. In doing so, he loses his relationship with his father, as well as his fiancé. He's attempting to rebuild his life without magic. Insert Levi, an incubus in town searching for his long-lost brother ambushed while he's in town and accidentally lands at the wrong Dr. Blackwell's door needing immediate care.
Only after helping fix Levi up does Jason find out that his dad is also missing. In their small mountain town, Jason is unimpressed by the police department's efforts to find his dad when Levi proposes that the two of them work together to find both of their loved ones. But of course, nothing goes according to plan. In a town full of supernatural beings, it was bound to get... messy.
This one was a slow burn, (not quite) enemies to lovers story that really focused on a lot of the supernatural elements in pretty good detail, which often isn't the case. I thought the story well well written and really loved Jason's grumpy to Levi's sensual and cheeky personality. They made a good pair and the banter throughout had me chuckling.
Thought it was a quick read, there was a lot of well written content that led to me not wanting to put the book down. I actually floated in the pool on a holiday weekend with my kindle because I couldn't wait to read more of their story. This being a debut novel was such a surprise for how easily it drew me in. There were a few twists throughout that kept me on my toes, and I'll definitely read Danny Haliwell's next novel!
A big thank you to Entangled Publishing for the advanced copy of the novel in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Paranormal romance is something I feel is either a hit or miss for me and this one was a hit!
Our main characters Jason and Levi had amazing banter, I was laughing at so many of their conversations, and the romance between them was so cute! I was rooting for them the entire time!
The paranormal side of this story was captivating. The mystery and the environment gave that creepy sort of vibe at times.
I did find it easy to figure out how it would end and who had done it. Overall this was such a quick and easy read, loved the duel pov, and the banter between characters! Need a fun paranormal romance this could be right up your alley!
Thank you to NetGalley, Amara, and Entangled Publishing for my advanced reader copy!

Absolutely adorable paranormal MM romance. I really liked both MMC’s and rooted for them the whole time and the mystery of the story was a lot of fun. Thank you to Entangled Publishing for sending me this ARC.

A grumpy sunshine MM Paranormal romance. A Magical Practitioner who wants to leave the magical world behind and follow his passion to become a veterinarian. Jason wanted to leave it all behind. He comes from a long line of magical healers and after the death of his mother at the hands of one of his father’s patients, he wants out so he can forge his own path.
Levi, a charming, smooth-talking Incubus who was given a mission by his maker to find his long-lost brother and if he doesn’t complete the mission within 2 weeks he will perish. Levi’s search lead him into the mountains and right to Jason’s doorstep.
Jason is immediately thrust right back into the world he desperately wants to forget but he also cannot leave a person human or other left to suffer or worse die. As an incubus Levi annoys Jason to no end but once Jason hears news of his father’s disappearance and the local police not taking the case seriously, he realizes his only chance to find answers about his father lies with the sexy, annoying, infuriating incubus under his care. What harm could a deal with a demon cause?
Levi has been lighthearted and flirty from the very beginning but there is something about Jason that reaches him on another level. Jason has been hurt before, and love and romance are the furthest things from his mind but the more he spends with Levi the more he discovers there is more to the flirty demon that meets the eyes.
Jason and Levi’s journey takes them down several rabbit holes with all roads leading to the conclusion that the disappearances of Jason’s father and Levi’s brother may be connected. This was a slow burn romance. It was fun to watch Jason and Levi’s relationship blossom and grow into something beautiful. With danger lurking around every corner the only people they can trust is each other. When the truth is revealed and betrayal cuts deeper than any knife Jason will fight to save the demon he has grown to love and put an end to a sinister family secret that he never knew about.
Expect to Find:
Grumpy Magical Practitioner
Flirty, Witty Incubus
Grief
Heartbreak
Spice
Betrayal
HEA

I really enjoyed this book! It was such a fun supernatural enemies-to-lovers read! Jason's unbothered demeanor cracked me up, while Levi's spoiled, always-gets-his-way attitude made their dynamic electric. I loved how their connection slowly deepened as they spent more time together. And once certain secrets and deals came to light, it was shocking!
