Jason Blackwell wanted a normal life—veterinarian in the mountains, no magic, no drama. But then Levi strolls in—an incubus in a suit, with Southern charm, secrets, and missing family. Now Jason’s back in a world he tried to leave, racing to find Levi’s brother before time—and demons—run out.

Oh. My. Gawd. This book is equal parts cozy small-town vibes and demon-fire chemistry. Jason’s grief-hit heart meets Levi’s smooth, weary hunger—and I fell into the cracks between their banter, felt every stare, every longing. There's magic that bites, stakes that sting, and a ticking clock that had me gasping at every turn. They’re not enemies but they’re not on the same side either—it’s like slow-burn meets morally messy and my comfort-reading radar is buzzing.

Literally laughed at Levi’s southern sass, teared up over Jason’s broken family history, and held my breath through a mystery that wants my soul. The pacing breezes right through—just long enough for the feelings to escalate, short enough that I never got bored.

A couple of twists land a bit too clean, and some side‑character arcs feel undercooked compared to our smoldering leads. Not a deal‑breaker, but it kept this one just shy of automatic five‑star territory for me.

this was such a fun sweet paranormal book! jason and levi had me rooting for them from the beginning. they are complete opposites and it just really works for them. the forced proximity and reluctance to work with one another is definitely there which just adds to the chemistry in my opinion.

not only did i love the characters but i really enjoyed the mystery aspect and i couldn't help myself but trying to solve it as i read.

the world building was probably my favorite aspect of the book because i love a magical world and being introduced to magical creatures. it's something i will always love and look forward to in books.

What To Expect:
- queer rep
- paranormal romance
- mystery
- found family
- magical bargains
- grumpy x sunshine

A magical doctor, an injured incubus and missing members!

This is a fun, quick read. Theirs wit, there’s banter, there’s mystery. Jason is a magical doctor who wants nothing to do with the magical world so instead, he works as a vet. Levi is an incubus whose brother is missing and he only has 2 weeks to find him or he dies! Jason’s father goes missing as well and the two men believe the missing family to be connected somehow. The two go on a journey to find their missing family, explorer s connection with one another and have to grapple with horrifying truths they find along the way. Total grumpy/sunshine as well!

This is a paranormal queer romance about a cynical man reluctantly teaming up with a suave Southern incubus to solve the disappearance of their family members with a happily ever after.

Jason is a magical doctor treating supernaturals like his father, but instead wants to leave magic behind to be a vet. Levi is an incubus who has two weeks to find his long-lost brother, or he will dissipate into oblivion, per his Maker's last dying command. When Levi is drawn to Jason's small town on his quest to find his brother and discovers Jason's father has gone missing also, they make a deal to help each other find their missing relatives.

I liked this quick romantic read and thought it had an interesting plot. Some of the plot twists I could see coming early on because of the way the characters were written, but the story was still enjoyable. It ends with a happily ever after and wraps up everything nicely. This is perfect for those who like monster romance or enemies to lovers vibes.

Jason Blackwell thought he had finally escaped his father’s world of magical medicine. All he wants is a normal life as a practicing veterinarian. No supernaturals. No unpredictable magic. Just a small town, regular animals, and walking away from his family secrets…and lies.

Pulled back into the life he thought he had left behind forever, Jason now returns to the shadows and secrets of the supernatural world. Only this time, there’s no hiding from the truth about himself—and his family’s troubled legacy—or from the magnetic demon who pulls at his heart.

But when you make a bargain with an incubus, there is always a price to be paid. The only question is whether Jason and Levi will live long enough to regret it…

Infernal Hearts is a supernatural enemies-to-lovers romance about a magic practitioner and a misbehaving incubus who discover that every deal has a dark side.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Infernal Hearts was an incredible read for me. I truly enjoyed the supernatural and paranormal elements, which reminded me of my deep love for this genre. However, what captivated me the most was the bond between Levi and Jason. This was my very first MM read, and I was thrilled by how authentically their connection was portrayed. It was so easy to immerse myself in their story, forgetting that everything unfolded in such a brief timeframe. It didn’t feel rushed; instead, it was exceptionally well-developed. I appreciated how they were opposites yet so perfectly aligned with each other. This book could easily serve as a fantastic palette cleanser. It’s not excessively lengthy, yet it offers genuine development and connection within its pages. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more works by this author.

Rating: 4/5
I received an eARC for my honest opinion

This is a paranormal romance with a great rep for Queer; it has action, drama, plot twists, great characters and a fun and refreshingly new feeling while reading this book. In this book you will also find magical bargains, betrayal and secrets, found family tropes, slow burn, magical world building, grumpy vs sunshine, and a sweet and a little steamy romance.

When I started to read paranormal romance books, I started with an incubus book, and I fell in love with that world. Well, this book did not let me down at all, in this book you will meet Jason and Levi. Jason is a human, who was raised in the world of paranormal because his father was the magical doctor that is all paranormal, but all he wants is to live a normal life, like a normal human. Levi is an incubus who is looking for his long-lost brother, and only because he was told to do so by his master before he died, oh and he only has like 2 weeks to find him, or he will die as well. With Levi being an incubus flirting to get his way in situations comes naturally but when Levi goes to Jason’s house instead of his fathers, Levi finds out that he can’t use his magical powers on Jason, and he can’t figure out why. With Jason's father missing and Levi’s brother who can’t be found, they decide to team up with each other to solve the case.

I really loved the characters in this book, they’re who made it amazing. I can’t say that I loved the world building that much, because I felt that it was lacking a little bit, I wanted more information about the magical system, the people and how they got there, but then I stopped myself and thought well, this is more of a standalone and with those they’re more character driven and I can’t be mad. I just adored Levi from the start; I felt that I could be friends with him in real life. He is sassy, has a lot of energy, he is confident but at the same time a little insecure, but in short terms he is what you would call a person, the life of the party. I liked the fact that Jason was the opposite of Levi. He is more reserved, grumpy, and is upset that his father is missing and now he has to deal with all this nonsense, he isn’t looking for a roll around the sheets or a relationship because he is still dealing with a breakup from his last long-term boyfriend. These two together were great, they were the best rep for opposites attract, and still managed to help each other heal past traumas, get over issues that they thought they would never be able to and with the slow burn of their romance, when they finally decide screw it all and go for it that is when the sparks come out. I loved the emotional damage that they both helped to heal and to watch their journey of finding out what happened and to save Levi’s life.

I do have to say that the side characters in this book were just as great as the main characters, and I hope that we get a book with a Rani story.

I want to thank NetGalley and Entangled Pub for the opportunity to review this book.

Dr. Smut's Checklist Book Review: Infernal Hearts
1. World Building: 0.75 out of 1 point.
The fantasy world in Infernal Hearts was really interesting! I liked that we got to explore so many different magical creatures and elements without it ever feeling rushed or crammed in. It kept a good pace and felt well thought out.
As a doctor myself, I also appreciated the whole magical healer aspect — I always love when fantasy brings a little medicine into the mix.
That said, I do tend to prefer my worlds a bit darker and grittier, so I’m giving it a 0.75 out of 1.

2. Characters: 0.75 out of 1 point.
I really liked both of the main characters. I felt super connected to Jason — his backstory, his personal growth, all of it really pulled me in. And his connection with Levi was beautiful to watch unfold.
I also enjoyed Levi’s character and their banter definitely kept things fun, but I do wish we had gotten a little more depth or backstory from him. It would’ve made him feel a bit more well-rounded.

3. Plot: 0.75 out of 1.
The plot was really interesting and felt refreshingly different, which I always appreciate.
There were a few slower moments in the middle where I wasn’t totally hooked, but the plot twists toward the end definitely made up for it. I loved how it all came together by the finish.

4. Smut: 0.5 out of 1.
There was one spicy scene in this book, and honestly… it delivered. It was written really well, the chemistry was there, and I was definitely invested in the moment.
But — and it’s a big but — there was only one scene, and if you know me, you know I need my books to lean way more on the filthy side. I like my romance with a little chaos and a lot of heat. So while I loved what we got, it just wasn’t enough to fully satisfy my spice expectations.

5. Fun-to-read: 0.75 out of 1.
The romance, the banter, the magical world, all the creatures — it was such a fun mix! I had a great time reading about the different elements of the world and the emotional connection and growth between the characters. The whole vibe was really enjoyable.
That said, the plot dragged a little in the middle, and let’s be honest… I always have more fun when there’s more spice sprinkled in. So for me, it’s a 0.75 out of 1 on the fun-to-read scale.

OVERALL: Thats 3.5 out of 5 stars for me but I'll round up to 4! And I'm going to give it 2 chili peppers for spice because it was SO good but I wish there had been more.

Big thanks to Entangled Publishing for the free ARC in exchange for my honest review! Loved diving into this magical world and getting to know Jason and Levi — plus, that magical doctor twist is totally my vibe. If you’re into fantasy with heart, give this one a look!

Jason leaves his dad's vet practice to open his own as he doesn't want to treat magical beings anymore. When incubus Levi shows up injured and asking for help finding his brother, Jason refuses to help but when Jason he finds out the consequences if Levi doesn't find his brother, and Jason finds out someone he cares about is missing too, they team up to find their loved ones.

In this enemies to lovers romance, the tension, banter, and overall storyline were superb! The mystery kept you guessing as to what happened and who did it up until all is revealed. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for more from this author!

The story was definitely a fun and easy read for me. I loved the writing style and the main characters were so great and perfectly written. I loved the world that was created for this story and all the magic, romance, and mystery surrounding it.

Jason, a skilled magician who wants to leave the past behind him, and Levi, an incubus who is searching for his brother, cross paths and make a deal to work together to find their missing family members.

The chemistry between Jason and Levi was so fun to read. They are complete opposites but can tell there is a connection between them from the start. I love the banter and communication between the two and being able to follow along on their journey was so much fun.

I really enjoyed this book and I hope there is more in the future with these characters.

This book was so much fun!!
Jason decides to leave his father's magic practice to become a vet. Despite swearing off magic and helping supernatural an incubus shows up on his doorstep one night needing medical treatment. What follows is a race against time to find two very important people in each of their lives.
The flirting and innuendos from Levi are top notch. I may have even chuckled aloud a time or two. I loved the push and pull between Levi and Jason and seeing Jason's walls slowly come down. While there is one (very) hot scene between the two, the story really focused on them forming a deeper connection. This story could have gone an entirely different direction with Levi being an incubus, but the author chose to not focus on that aspect of his character and really focused on him as an individual first, incubus qualities second.
Rani is a great supporting character to the story. She's the ride or die best friend we all wish we had!
While the book did start a little slow for me, once I was about a quarter way in, it was pretty smooth sailing from there. It was a well balanced read in terms of just enough mystery, just enough spice and just enough character development. Absolutely nothing was overdone.
This truly was a very pleasantly unexpected read for me.

3 Stars – A fun paranormal romance with potential, but didn’t fully land for me

Infernal Hearts has a great setup: a reluctant vet with magical blood, a charming incubus, and a race against time to save their loved ones. The chemistry between Jason and Levi is the highlight, with some witty banter and emotional moments that worked well.

But while the story was entertaining and easy to fly through, the pacing felt uneven, and I wanted more from the world-building and plot depth. Some parts dragged, others felt rushed, and the magical elements never quite felt fully fleshed out.

Still, fans of queer paranormal romance with a lighter, fast-paced vibe might enjoy this more than I did.

Huge thank you to Entangled Publishing, Brittany Zimmerman, and Danny Haliwell for this eARC copy of Infernal Hearts!
This was a charming queer romance between a doctor for magical creatures and a sweet-talking incubus. I absolutely LOVED the romance between Jay and Levi. Watching them work through their traumatic pasts and insecurities to solve a mystery together and seeing the love between them grow was the best part of this book. I do think the plot was pushed to the side in favor of the romance (which I’m definitely not complaining about), but it did make it feel like the romance was the only thing moving forward, while the plot stayed very stagnant. Otherwise, this was a story I really enjoyed reading and definitely recommend picking up this gem when it releases in July!! ✨

Stayed up until 1 AM because I couldn’t put this one down. This book had me hooked from the very first chapter. It’s fast-paced, addictively entertaining, and gives me everything I want in a dark fantasy read: drama, danger, and just the right amount of heart. 🖤
📖 The twists kept coming, and I was genuinely surprised by how emotionally invested I became in the characters. It’s one of those reads that doesn’t let up in the best way.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for the gifted ARC!

This was a sweet romance between opposites, with the addition of a mystery to solve. I enjoyed it overall, but found it pretty one-note.

Since it was a short book it jumped into things pretty quickly, never giving me a chance to really connect with the characters. And while the mystery was interesting enough, there were no side plots going on. I would’ve liked a bit more depth to everything.

Thanks to Entangled for the copy.

No disrespect at all to the Author. I will support great writing when I read it. However, I gave 4 stars because I don't believe in this particular sexuality trope. It was hard for me to read but I pushed through to support the author. Thank you for ARC.
The writing is amazing though.
I did enjoy Levi very much as an individual however.
I wish you so much success in this book!

This was such a fun read! A fast-paced standalone perfect for getting out of a reading slump, with a supernatural world as the setting for solving a mystery.

The romance felt a bit lacking in depth, with the book taking place across a time frame of only two weeks, but it was still very cute and sweet.

Thank you for the ARC!

Infernal Hearts was a fun read! I loved how cute the romance was (I really think Demon POV discovering love might be my new favorite microtrope) and how intriguing the mystery was as well. Both main characters were endearing and well developed. I also loved the supporting cast (Andrew was a personal favorite). I enjoyed that it ended on a HEA. The only gripe I have with the book if the tension for the mystery subplots didn't seem to drive the characters at a realistic pace- no one was in a rush to "find" despite the time limit. Honestly though, that is a really minor gripe.
