Jason Blackwell has spent his whole life in the shadow of his father, a famous magical healer. After tragedy strikes and his dreams change, he opens a quiet veterinary clinic and tries to live a normal life. That is, until a wounded stranger named Levi shows up on his doorstep.
What begins as a simple favor becomes something much bigger. Jason and Levi are pulled into a journey filled with forgotten pasts, magical secrets, and a connection that neither of them expected. Along the way, trust is built, hearts are tested, and love begins to bloom.
I really appreciated that this was a queer love story with a paranormal twist. The emotional growth between the characters stood out, and their bond felt genuine. While the premise had potential, the pacing felt uneven and some of the plot points didn’t land as strongly for me as I hoped. Still, it was a unique take on identity, love, and legacy that many romance readers will enjoy.

Thank you Entangled Publishing for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
If it wasn't for the spice, this would be YA - the plot is very simple with almost no other storylines. Supporting characters are very one-dimensional. I honestly almost gave up on this book because the lore this author chose to follow is so uncommon: demons are made and are under the control of their Makers (a la traditional vampire lore). The author doesn't explain this until about 50% of the way through the book. On top of that, there's some messy storytelling; incubi are supposed to be one of the strongest demons out there, yet not only is Levi one of the last two vampires in the world, he was attacked and gravely injured at the beginning of the book.
While the book is told in a dual-POV, Jason and Levi, the character read pretty similarly. Oddly enough the modern day doctor read more like an old man and Levi, the one hundred + year old demon read like a twenty-something year old.
Pacing was a bit too slow, but maybe I just felt that way because I didn't find the story exciting enough. Last, I felt the ending was a little too predictable. Overall, it was ok.

I enjoyed Jason and Levi's chemistry. Family drama is always tough but I felt like it was well written. I want more monsters in the next book but there were several introduced I'd like to see what they are about. Can't wait to hear mom's story! Good book.

Romantasy with magicians, demons, found family, and spice, what more could you ask for??
This story is about Jason, a veterinarian who left his dad’s practice to start one on his own. He meets Levi, an incubus who was attacked when he came to town, and Jason has to work hard to help him heal.
The two decide to work together to find Levi’s brother and Jason’s dad, and they only have 2 weeks to do it.
The story was good, and it kept me wanting to read to find out what happened next. Jason and Levi are the cutest, and I loved watching their relationship change and grow!
Thank you @authordannyhaliwell and @netgalley for the arc!

I devoured Infernal Hearts by Danny Haliwell in one sitting. This deal with the devil trope hit all the right notes! Jason’s stubborn “I’d rather be single than giving it away to just anyone” had me swooning (and screaming 🤭) when Levi shot back, “Oh sweetheart, who said you’re just anyone.” Their hate to hot blooded allure dynamic is super hot, and I loved the way their reluctant alliance to find Jason’s dad and Levi’s brother kept me on my toes. The banter is sharp, the mystery twists keep you guessing, and the chemistry… let’s just say I’m Team Incubus all the way. I do think the writing could have been better, and development was lacking, but it was a good time nonetheless.
Big thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is the first lgbtq book I have read that the main characters were gay men. I love it.
Jason a human must strike a deal with Levi a demon incubus to help each other find their loved ones. Jason has sworn off working with magic after tragedy hit in his families magical doctor offices but in order to find his father he must work with Levi to help find Levi’s brother. Jason hates Levi but boy there is attraction stirring between them.
My favorite line was “I’d rather be single than giving it away to just anyone “ - Jason “ Oh sweetheart who said you’re just anyone.” - Levi
Me: *screams* 🤭
This book had me hooked I couldn’t get enough.
I want to say thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this lovely book.

All I can say is this was a 10/10, I love me a deal with the devil trope and this one checks all my boxes!

Exactly what I needed to read today!
Infernal Hearts was the perfect book to pick up and read when I needed a study break! I love a cutesy romance- and what better kind than one that is practically a deal with the devil?? Now, I don't know much about magical doctors (except for Witch Doctor, the song performed by Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I don't really think that counts...🤣) nor do I know much about the mythology of the "incubus," but I loved the story line between Jason and Levi❤️ Jason has to find his father, and Levi needs to find his brother. So, they make a deal to help each other out. It had twist after turn, and at one point I thought maybe the dog was the brother😂 I was very wrong (or was I? 🤔).
I highly recommend for anyone looking to read a sexy but cute romance where one of the guys absolutely LOVES to flirt!!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! This book just didn’t land for me. I thought the concept was interesting but the follow through was not there.

I mean who doesn’t love a cute little queer paranormal romance about a human and an incubus?? This was such a quick and fun read and had me giggling and kicking my feet. The story line was so different and I love the banter between Levi and Jason, their connection was well paced and swooney in the best way. I always love a good paranormal/supernatural book and this one was done in a very unique way, it was refreshing and clearly captivating since I read it in one sitting! The double twist at the end was done so well (I did guess it) and transitioned the story to end perfectly. I’d love to see more from this author in the future, his writing is easy paced, fun, flirty and enjoyable!
I was given this E-Arc by the incredible Entangled Publishing Team and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to read this early!
Infernal Hearts releases July 7, 2025 and I highly recommend!!

1.5 stars.
At it’s core this was a good concept, but unfortunately it was very poorly executed.
There were many points where the main characters and the romance felt very juvenile. I understand that Levi is an incubus but the way he was constantly trying to get in Jason’s pants at the start honestly just got really annoying. A lot of the dialogue felt cringy and unnatural.
The plot felt almost non existent for most of this book. It felt like the MC’s weren’t really doing anything to find their missing loved ones.
I almost DNFed at the halfway mark but pushed through and the story did improve slightly at the very end. There were many inconsistencies though.
I think this had the potential to be a good story but it needed a lot more work before being published.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this eArc to review.

This is a fun book! The main characters, Levi and Jason are unique and have some nice banter. I enjoyed the twists and turns this story has. There is a lot of mystery that keeps you on your toes. And the magic is cool too. But I do wish there had been more of it. Overall this is a good book. If you like enemies to lovers, magic and mystery, I think you'll like this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for allowing me to read this book ahead of release in exchange for my honest opinion.

Infernal Hearts was a book with an enticing premise, which is what first drew me to request it. On the plus side, I liked both Jason and Levi as characters. Both grew during the course of the story and I was behind their romance. The plot was generally okay with a fun twist near the end. What didn't 100% work for me was the dialogue, which felt a bit stilted, and the world building which felt a bit like info dumping in places. Also, this book was sold as an enemies-to-lovers tale, but it was not really that. I have seen this tag used more and more lately for stories which, like this one, are really just two people who are a little antagonistic at first; they are not true 'enemies'. I do wish publishers would stop throwing this tag in when it doesn't really meet the definition. Still, despite those small complaints, this was a mostly entertaining read and offered a fresh take on paranormal romance, so I am giving it 3.5 stars.

Infernal Hears by Danny Haliwell was an enjoyable read. It went by smoothly and thoroughly and didn’t leave me with more questions. The characters are well-displayed and elaborated upon. The main characters are a human and an incubus who meet by chance. While there is a bit more to the storyline (I don’t want to post spoilers), it keeps the reader engaged.
When I first started this book, I was invested, but about halfway through, I became a little less invested. However, it picked back up and had me wanting more. I don’t enjoy too much spice in my books, and I think this had the perfect amount. I’d give it a 2-3/5 for spice. It’s sweet, romantic, and the ideal amount of paranormal. I enjoyed the storyline and plot. I would recommend this book and this author!

Loved it!! It was so much fun!! The banter in here is perfection and Jason and Levi were everything together!
Jason was a cute cinnamon roll character! I loved his compassionate and healing heart.
Levi was a fun sexy incubus that had no filters and so entertaining. I also loved his other real side that we got to see as the story unfolded.
I enjoyed the two of them together. They really complimented each other well and the chemistry was amazing!
The story was a mix of fun, suspense, mystery, and romance all wrapped in an entertaining package.

This one had all the ingredients I love-magic, mystery, romance, and a chaotic incubus meets serious magician dynamic that totally worked for me. Levi and Jason had such a fun push-and-pull vibe, and I loved their journey from reluctant allies to something more. The missing family mystery added a nice twist too!
That said, I was hoping for a bit more from the magic side of things, and the writing didn't fully click for me. The dialogue felt a little flat and I just wanted more depth overall. Still, I was entertained, and the ending wrapped things up in a way that made me glad I stuck with it. A quick, enjoyable fantasy romance-even if it didn't totally blow me away.
Thank to Entangled and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Infernal Hearts is a suspenseful paranormal MM romance between an incubus and a magical practioner turned veterinarian.
I found Jason and Levi to be a fun duo to read about. Their dislike-to-lovers tale kept me amused and I enjoyed their push and pull banter especially when Levi was always trying to turn on the charm.
Both searching for a missing family member, they make a deal to help each other and I enjoyed going on this journey with them.
The time spent together, forced them to see each other in a different light and I found their romance developed organically.
The world building was interesting but I wished we got some more magical elements included in the story. The mystery factor held my attention and while there were some unexpected twists I would have liked it fleshed out a bit more.
Overall this was a fun, easy read which I was able to complete in a couple days. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to paranormal MM romance lovers.

3.5 rounded 4
I enjoyed this book. For me it's a tale about found family and healing too. Both characters Jason and Levi need to heal. Grief is a strong theme in the book (be aware of this, just in case you don't like this theme). Levi is fun and has borderline morals, what's not to like?
The book is rather short - less than 300 pages, but quite compact. It didn't feel like fewer than 300 pages. At around 70/80%, there is a bit of back and forth from some places which felt a bit unnecessary to me. However, the ending is jaw-dropping and I found it was well-written and well-plotted.
Pick it up if you like:
- Enemies-to-lovers
- Grumpy X Sunshine
- Romance (open door)
- Supernatural beings & Magic
- An ending so twisted you won't believe it
