A Botanist’s Guide to Rituals and Revenge is smart, twisty, and laced with just enough darkness. Saffron returns home expecting peace—but finds blackmail, seances, and secrets buried deep in the family garden. With poisons, mediums, and old grief rising to the surface, she’s got more than science on her side—she’s got determination.
Atmospheric, clever, and a little bit eerie—I couldn’t put it down.

I think this was a well-crafted mystery/plotline. I don't love that the epilogue was basically just a set up for book 5 since I really think this could have been a good conclusion to the series - it makes me wonder how many books will actually be in this series

This is my first book by Kate Khavari and I really enjoyed it! I had no idea this was a series until I started it and I found I easily picked up the storyline from where this book started.
The audiobook narrator is fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance bringing the characters to life.
I did find myself rolling my eyes through the last half of the book as the main character just continued to make things harder for herself. I would understand someone who refuses help and is falsely confident in their abilities in book one or book two but by book four I assumed she would understand that keeping secrets from people who could help her was ridiculous.
The romance was extremely sweet and I did really like how the MMC is written.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!!

Saffron finds herself in a tangled mess of blackmail, family expectations, and a spirit-speaking con-woman, and while the story is enjoyable both to read and listen to, I think the book struggles a bit from being part of a larger series. Though it mostly follow the series' central plot, the book also introduces several subplots, and sometimes it feels as if there are just too many moving parts. The two main mysteries don’t always intersect in a meaningful way, making the book feel like a mix of two or three different stories up until the final confrontation, when everything starts to finally fall into place.
Some character dynamics also feel a bit repetitive, Saffron’s concerns and wants are often dismissed or brushed off, but as the story progresses, more complex relationships emerge, and the characters become more well-defined.
That said, I’d recommend picking up the audiobook version. The narrator does an excellent job of injecting energy and inflection into the dialogue, bringing the academic plot elements to life in a way that keeps things engaging.

Returning home after her grandfather’s heart attack, Saffron Everleigh discovers a web of secrets surrounding a mysterious “doctor,” a spiritual medium, and her late father’s research, all threatening her family and her budding romance.
More thriller than mystery, this book focuses on the intrigue surrounding Saffron’s family. It’s fast-paced and atmospheric with a plot that kept me guessing. I enjoyed the audiobook narration.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Another amazing installment in the Saffron Everleigh series. Saffron has been called home in regard to her ailing grandfather, and the fact that the doctor tending him is the terrifying and threatening Bill Wyatt, who still feels Saffron owes him a debt and plans to threaten her family to call it in. Joining her are her best friend Elizabeth and beau Alexander.
While visiting it comes to light that a medium has been channeling Elizabeth's brother, and Saffron's childhood love, Wesley from beyond the grave. The two women must put a stop to the con game while uncovering anyting that could get Bill out of their lives.
This was less mystery than the previous books in the series. In fact I'd wager that it was hardly a mystery at all beyond who is working for which con man. Even then, it was very obvious from the get go. A lot of the mystery elements were plainly obvious and not a single red herring was to be had. That said I was surprised by one minor twist regarding Saffron's father's research, but that turned out to not even be the twist it was implied to be.
Despite this barely being a mystery, it was an amazing addition into the characters and their lives. Each one has grown and developed significantly since book 1. I find their reactions to danger, each other, lies, and revelations to be believable and true to character. I find our core three characters to be endearing and I love them so much. I was even VERY pleasantly surprised by Lee making an appearance. I was rooting for him to pop up the whole time. There's never enough Lee!
I am waiting with baited breath now for the next installment, and am so thrilled to see how the characters will continue to grow.
Though hopefully there's a bit more of an actual mystery to be had in Turkey. I also hope there will be a full conversation between Saffron and Alexander about the future they are so excited to begin. I want an ACTUAL conversation between them about it. Because some elements of doubt have been laid in this book.

The fourth installment of this series has botanist, Saffron and her beau returning to Saffron’s family home after her grandfather suffers a heart attack. There are plenty of mysteries afoot with a mysterious doctor, and a spiritual medium all staying in the old house. This is a really enjoyable series with an intelligent and likable heroine.

Khavari does a great job of connecting a lot of loose threads from the previous books in this installment of her Saffron Everleigh series. Once the action picks up, it REALLY picks up and was hard to put down because I had to know what would happen next and if Saffron would be successful.
Taking place mostly at Ellington Manor, the change of scenery allows for Khavari to bring in Saffron's family. We've got an evil doctor who isn't who he claims to be, a spirit medium holding seances that might be more nefarious than they seem, and on top of all of that, Saffron has to introduce her family to Alexander.
The botanical mystery portion was fascinating and I'm looking forward to seeing where Khavari takes this series next.
Jodie Harris is back and does an excellent job with the audiobook narration though once again I really wish Alexander's chapters had a separate (male) narrator.

In this fourth installment of the Saffron Everleigh series, Saffron returns to her childhood home when her grandfather suffers a heart attack. Saffron has brought her beau, Alexander with her, and family tensions are high. There is a mysterious doctor who has been hired, who is not who he claims to be, as well as a spiritual medium who is seeking the attentions of Saffron's mother. Saffron is still trying to solve the mystery of her father's legacy while all of this is going on, and she just might do it! I thoroughly enjoy this series! Saffron is whip-smart, and the narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life.

The 4th installment in this series was just as enthralling as the others. I like the main characters in this book, Alexander and Saffrons relationship only becomes stronger. They work so well as a pair, always supportive and in tandem.
Saffrons family is challenging, but we get to see the inner working of her relationships with each of them. The mystery plot itself was good and continues to revolve around FMCs father's main work.
Okay so my only negative, the narration was not engaging at all. The narrator was heavily accented and not in the right way, so it was a bit off putting to listen.
