This is a really deft thriller. I started reading a few pages, expecting it to be just that, only to find myself a good few chapters in unable to stop. A woman, Sophie approaches her 40th birthday, her life and the lives of those around her, overlaps with an armed robbery. The book weaves between characters and timelines. It builds its story, whilst constantly challenging what you think you know. I usually have to like at least one character and I can't say that was the case for anyone here, but it didn't matter a jot as the perspective changes so quickly and constantly. I loved the exploration of the dangers of putting anyone on a pedestal- those closest to us, as well as people we admire from afar.

Best book I have read in a long time. Absolutely captivating! The characters and plot was so engaging and never dull. Brilliant ending. I’ve never been disappointed by a Joel Dicker book!
