With wonderfully quirky illustrations, A Million Yes’s is a great reminder that everyone needs to remember how important it is to take care of yourself. This fun story encourages self-care, balance, and emotional awareness in a way kids can truly connect with. It's definitely something adults could take a great message away from as well! Will certainly be purchasing this book when it comes out!

I totally picked this book out because the art was adorable! But it’s also got an important message on setting boundaries and looking after yourself. It reminds me of that saying - ‘Don’t set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.’ Only this is done in a way that’s easy for children to understand and take on board. It’s good to help, to listen, to take care of others - but don’t burn yourself out and give away everything you have for those who take and do not give in return. Boundaries and self-care are as important as helping those you care about. A healthy balance is so important!
A very good little book for younger kids!

A little girl gives away all her yes’s to anyone in need at great cost and now she has to figure out what to do when she has no more yes’s and doesn’t feel like herself anymore.
Necessary for all ages! We all need the self care lesson here for sure. The art style isn’t typical of children’s books and takes some getting used to but wasn’t bad. Great way to learn to say no and how to know who your real friends are.

I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley in exchange for a review. As a mom, this story resonated with me and I loved the message of taking care of yourself before taking care of everyone else.
My 5 year old said “5 stars! I loved her pile of yes’s.” She immediately began explaining the story to her stuffed animals.

This one is a big YES from me! I absolutely love the message of this book, which is that true friendship is not giving and giving and giving with nothing in return until you're exhausted and depressed (I'm looking at you, Rainbow Fish!) This book has illustrations in a really cool and unique style, and it teaches the lesson that it's OK to set healthy boundaries and impower people to help themselves rather than doing everything for them.

I read this with my nine year old. I will give both our thoughts from a kid and a teacher-mom.
My son's thoughts- I loved it! I learned it's good to help yourself and help other people. I was confused by what the yeses were until my mom told me.
My thoughts- The metaphor went straight over my son's head. I loved the illustrations and use of color. This book relies heavily on illustrations to present its meaning. I think this book would speak more to a tired momma.
This book would be a great resource to share with a child who struggles with creating healthy friendships.

I love the message within A Million YES’s! There are many themes you could walk away pondering after reading this book but the one that stuck with me is the importance of self-care. How valuable for children to will grow up recognizing that putting our well-being first is not just beneficial for ourselves and our loved ones but that it’s NORMAL! I love that so much. How can we give to others if we neglect ourselves? It’s also such a great life lesson to recognize that balance in all things is a major key to our happiness.
I enjoyed the illustrations throughout the story and felt it leant to the overall vibe of the book.

This simple book helps children, and adults, consider the impact of always saying yes to others. My children (8 & 10) loved the images and concept of giving away parts of yourselves to others, The hopeful message of caring for your self as well as others is empowering. Experiencing burnout and missing out on self care can have huge implications on our well being - the strong illustrations give profound moments of reflection,, especially when she goes home and gets into bed, sad. Prioritisation, time management and being busy could all come through, interesting to see what children at different ages think about as they reflect on this book,

A Million YES’s by DJ Corchin and Dan Dougherty is the kind of book that stopped me in my tracks—in the best way possible. The message? Powerful. The artwork? Absolutely stunning. Every page is rich with detail and emotion, making it a joy to linger on.
At my grown age, I fully plan to purchase this book for myself. Yes, it’s a picture book, but the reminder it delivers is timeless: you can’t pour from an empty cup. This book beautifully illustrates how easily we can give away our time, energy, and heart until we have nothing left for ourselves—and how important it is to protect our peace, set healthy boundaries, and allow others to benefit from our overflow, not our reserves.
This is a must-have for your bookshelf—whether you’re a parent, a teacher, or someone simply trying to navigate life while holding onto your joy. Highly, highly recommend.

As someone who struggles with saying no to people and learning how to set boundaries, this was such an important and impactful read and I recommend this to anyone, child through to adult. The art style of this is amazing as well

The imagery and colours make this book. It is strong and bold and the message is made so very very simply. The images show how children (and adults) need to think about what they give away and how always saying yes can be wrong and painful and not help those that are asking for help as much as you. This is done in such a graphic way that it is clear and a helpful guide to use as a starting point with children.

A beautiful little story on the importance of self care, healthy boundaries, kindness, teaching others, and also protecting your space in a healthy way at an age appropriate level.

The perfect book for highlighting the importance of boundaries to younger readers! This would make the perfect addition to any Pre-K or Kindergarten classroom looking for books for storytime books that can subtly teach a lesson. The representation of different identities in this book is fantastic as well, not being overly stressed, but instead adding different identities in the use of language and drawings.

A million YES´s is a book with an illustration that stands out and a very attractive character design, unfortunately the content is of little interest to me.
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for this advanced reader's copy.

4 1/2 stars for this cute little story with a big lesson. Dan Doughertys’ illustrations were adorable. I’ll have to read Thousand No’s now!

This is a beautiful, fun and meaningful story featuring kindness to others but more importantly yourself. This story demonstrates the importance of putting yourself first, especially when you've given so much to others. As an educator, I would use this as a read aloud followed by a discussion around kindness, and that sometimes being kind to yourself means saying no to others. I would recommend this be a book in school libraries and would recommend it to my colleagues.
Thank you NetGalley, The phazelFOZ Company, LLC, DJ Corchin & Dan Dougherty for an ARC copy of A Million YES's.

This was a beautiful story which explored many themes, including: kindness, friendship and resilience. It teaches us that although we’d always like to say ‘yes’, it can’t be at the detriment of our own wellbeing. I love the idea of exploring this theme with younger children and teaching them to be resilient and work hard for the things they wish for, without always relying on others. A fabulous story!

How I wish I had stumbled upon this book when I was younger—though honestly, it’s never too late to learn how to set healthy boundaries. This story delivers that essential message with humor, heart, and a wildly creative flair.
The art? So. Cool. Think Tim Burton meets Dr. Seuss in the best possible way—whimsical, quirky, and absolutely captivating. It’s the kind of visual style that draws you in and makes the message linger.
A wonderfully wacky, important read for kids and the grown-ups reading with them.
Thank you to NetGalley, The phazelFOZ Company, LLC, DJ Corchin, and Dan Dougherty for the privilege of receiving this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

First I would like to give a huge thank you to @netgalley for allowing me to have an opportunity to read this incredible story. This book was an absolute must read.
As someone who is afraid to say no and always say yes I wish this story was around when I was younger. I feel like this story would be important for my students because it is important they learn it is okay to say no and to put themselves first.
This story was overall an excellent read and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t wait to add this story to my classroom. #amillionyess #netgalley

I read A Million YES's with my 8-year-old son. Throughout the story, we discussed what the main character was feeling. We talked about what it's like to be so busy that you forget to take care of yourself and do things that bring you joy.
There were so many positives about this book: the illustrations in both black and white and color, the simplicity of the words but the powerful impact of the overall story, the creativity addressed as YES - the different styles and ways to "create" a yes. I also appreciated the diversity of the characters.
Overall, a children's book about self-care is one that I'll return to with my kids again and again, as well as recommend to friends.
Thank you to The phazelFOZ Company, LLC, for the gifted ARC! #amillionyess #NetGalley
