The Taylors is middle school version of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, with less magic. Instead of pants and a birthday uniting a group of four girls, it is the fact that they the four Taylors in their homeroom, each born into a family of Swifties who decided to name their daughter after their favorite musician. There is the typical middle school pettiness, and the expected fairy tale ending. What makes the book unique is the multitude of Taylor Swift references, some incredibly obvious, and others more obscure, that are used as a way to pay homage to Taylor, and specifically, the Eras tour.

Jen never fails to amaze me! This book was so incredible and I enjoyed reading every bit of it! I loved the bond that the Taylors had and how their friendship was so strong throughout all of the ups and downs. It was so cool to see references of other books from some of my favorite authors! This book definitely deserves more than 5 stars!

As an adult Swiftie, I was excited to read this book. It was not ultimately for me, but I think the 4th graders in my library will enjoy it. I do suspect its appeal may be limited to fellow Swifties.

Thank you NetGalley, Scholastic, and Jen Calonita for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I picked this one up because of the gorgeous cover and my love for Taylor Swift and found it to be a really cute children’s story. This one is great for Taylor fans, both young and old, and helps give an example of how an artist can change someone’s life. There are two books in this series, this one and one where the characters are older, and I preferred this one. It was hard for me to get the characters straight in the other one, but this one made it much easier. I would recommend picking this one up first for sure!

A well written and age appropriate tale of girlhood. This book is filled with Taylor Swift Easter eggs and it was delight looking for them all as an adult Swiftie. The characters are diverse and well developed as well relatable for girls of today. This is sure to be a hit with middle grade swifties, it’s a great story of friendship, perseverance and a love for music.

For me, this isn’t a 5 star but for my 9 year old daughter, she was obsessed. We read it together so I could see her vibe and she could have some mom bonding time. I also teach 6th grade and I could definitely see my students loving this book as well.

Read this if:
🎤 you’re a tween/teen girl
🎤 you’re obsessed with Taylor Swift
🎤 you need a quick, cute and fun book to read for 4-6 grade students
