Dual Narrtion - Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon
Wow these two are just fantastic!
This is sort of a fantasy but in modern day times and mafia vibes going on. There is a magical aspect that plays into the story that is interesting and I would love to read more in this universe.
Rosalie is a good girl lawyer. She is taking on the case of a murderer trying to free him as she believes he is innocent and has been framed. Rosalie is sweet and has this huge heart of gold. Her dream of making it as one of the best lawyers at her firm is what is driving her.
Alexi Sokolov is the murderer in question and when he lays eyes on Rosalie he is determined to maker her his. He intertwines himself in her life and her heart. He is a morally grey MMC.
This is an engaging, captivating romance with action and spice. I found it very enjoyable.

One Dark Kiss Honest ARC Review:
4.5 ⭐️
Modern dark romance twist on Snow White with mafia vibes and I like this so much more than I thought I would!!
Alexi leaves prison after seven years thanks to his brilliant and gorgeous attorney, Rosalie. Rosalie had no idea what she was getting herself into when she realized Alexi as well as others in her life were in or had close ties to the mafia.
Smoking hot and full of adventure, this is definitely one to add to your TBR!
⭐️Forbidden romance
⭐️Mafia romance
⭐️He falls first

⭐️Possessive
⭐️Stalker vibes
Thank you so much for sharing this ARC with me. It was fantastic! I look forward to more from this author.

I was given an advance copy of the audiobook and it was a great listen.
Love a good dark romance with Russian mafia ties. There is a bit of a supernatural twist to this one which I would normally roll my eyes at, but I now understand where they got the black mirror reference in the description of the book. I rate a book by if I want to go check out the authors back catalogue or hope this is going to be the first of many in the series (I see potential in sequels) and I hope for both :)

This was the first book I have read by this author. It was such a good book. I finished it in one day. I loved the action and mystery with the spice. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. I can't wait to buy the book.

Dark Mafia retelling of Snow White? Sign me up. This story strikes a perfect balance between familiar and fresh, weaving intense control dynamics and high-stakes action into its dark reimagining. The spice is plentiful, and the plot keeps you hooked from start to finish.
One element that felt unnecessary, though, was the magic. It’s briefly mentioned but never fully developed, leaving it disconnected from the rest of the story. Honestly, the book would have stood stronger without it.
The dual narration was masterfully done, pulling you deeper into the book’s tension and atmosphere. The narrators didn’t just tell the story they embodied it, delivering every emotion with precision and impact.
Thank you for this ALC.

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me.
I went in with high hopes and really wanted to love it, but I struggled to connect with the characters or the storyline. The chemistry between the main couple felt flat, and the plot leaned more toward chaotic than compelling. It lacked the emotional tension or intrigue that usually keeps me invested in a dark paranormal romance.
Despite pushing through and giving it a fair chance, it simply didn’t deliver the depth or pull I was looking for. That said, I’m sure others might enjoy it more, it just didn’t align with my reading taste.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Wow, I have so many thoughts streaming through my head with this one, most that aren’t appropriate for a review due to spoilers so I can’t wait until it comes out on June 24th so I can discuss it more at length!
I have sort of a split opinion of sorts between the story in its own right vs its command of the source material since it’s a dark (well darker or different type of dark) retelling of the original Snow White and Snow White and the Hunts Man. Of you take the retelling part out of it the book can have a disconnect with what we are told the characters are verse how they actually act. This can be off putting I’m sure to some readers especially because let’s be honest, it’s abusive but isn’t all dark romance?
On the other hand when you compare it to the source material it’s really cleverly done. In the books description it tells us that it’s a retelling of Snow White and in the original story the huntsman is a character but in my opinion Zanetti also uses the source material of the more modern “Snow White and the Huntsman” to draw from. She of course turns it all on its ear and weaves a morally black MMC with the seemingly innocent and sweet FMC.
I do like the urban fantasy feel to the story that seems like it is in the regular modern world until you see how the top internet companies are run. It’s not just futuristic, it’s fantasy.
Is this book similar to her first in the series? Sure. But so are Grimms fairytales at their core.
I did an immersion read as I received a physical ARC of the book as well as the audiobook. I had started the book only in physical form for the first 40% and then got the audio so I had the chance to explore both mediums by themselves. So I listened for a chunk and then finished up doing both at the same time.
The narrators Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon did a fine job with their performances. They spoke at a good pace and switched between chosen accents easily . However, while it was fine, Mr Greenfields “Russian” accent was a bit more on the comical side rather than authentic which took some time to get used to.
While the audiobook was a good experience I definitely enjoyed reading the prose with my eyeballs . It allowed me a better experience in connecting with the characters and painting the world in my head.
I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary audio ALC from Recorded Books through NetGalley as well as the physical ARC from Kensington Publishing to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

I loved this book. I need a sequel. . All characters were very likable and it flowed very well. It was a little intense at times and had me in the edge of my seat. I would definitely recommend this book to others. Thank you to NetGalley, Rebecca Zanetti, and RB Media for the advanced readers copy of this audio. Publication date Jun 24 2025.

Thanks to the publishers for this alc for a honest review. This was a well narrated and produced audiobook. I read this in tandem with the ebook and the narrators did a great job of bringing the characters to life. I liked the accent that was used for the mmc and how it elevated the book.
For the plot this was a good dark romance with this magical aspect surrounding the world. We have the mmc that is just getting out of prison for a crime he didn’t commit. The fmc is his attorney and immediately when they meet there is so much chemistry and the mmc is obsessed with her. As soon as the mmc gets out of jail the fmc us thrown into this world of crime, billionaires, lust, power, murder as the mmc goes back into the world.i liked how fast paced the book is and how immediately we have the crime families and trying to figure out who framed the mmc. The romance is steamy and lust based at first with a possessive mmc that won’t let the fmc go. I liked the mystery aspect and how the story get me interested and wrapped with both the romance and crime plot. Over a good dark romance, thanks to Kensington for this arc for an honest review.

so, I did not realize that this was the 2nd book in a series. there were moments where I was genuinely so confused about the world building aspects of the magic and fantasy elements but I think had I read tbe first one, those parts of the plot would have been more clear.
BUT! I did still enioy this one. it was actually quite a fast moving story line. it felt like as really jumped right into the world of Alexei. The romance part was very much an insta-love type of romance - definitely no slow burn here but honestly, i didn't mind. Alexei is definitely a "touch her and die" MMC. I did feel like Rosalie was a bit naive but definitely stood her ground towards fhe end.
definitely enjoyable, fast paced, a little predictable but still fun!

“One Dark Kiss” by Rebecca Zanetti is a gripping, steamy, and addictive dark romance that had me hooked from the first chapter. The characters were intense, the chemistry was electric, and the plot delivered just the right mix of danger and desire.
While the story itself was everything I hoped for, the audiobook narration didn’t quite land for me, the tone felt slightly mismatched at times. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall experience, and I’m glad I stuck with it.
I would definitely recommend this to friends who enjoy their romance with a darker edge. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audio ARC!

I did not expect to be this obsessed for a dark twist on Snow White retelling, but wow this book delivered. It’s the second in the series, but it works perfectly as a standalone. It is dark, steamy, twisty, and sooo addictive. Alexei is intense in all the best “please ruin me” ways and Rosalie? Girl had backbone and I loved her for it.
But what really made this audiobook hit hard was the narration. The narrators freaking crushed it. I was hooked from the first minute. They brought so much emotion, heat, and danger to every scene. It felt like a movie playing in my head.
The revenge plot, the family betrayal, the billionaire drama, it was all so juicy and fast paced. I couldn’t stop listening. Highly recommend if you’re into powerful dark mafia romance with forbidden chemistry!

A deliciously sexy dark fantasy romance sequel to One Cursed Rose. This one brings in a Russian mob element as Alexei plots to take back his father’s company from his stepmother. You have Snow White and the huntsman elements, special crystals, the violence as expected with mafia romance and lots of spice. This is dark romance so check your triggers as this does include mentions of trafficking, plenty of death and violence as well as dubious consent. The audio is dual narration and the accents add the extra bit of life to the story.

I was intrigued by the premise of the book and I keep wanting to try "dark romance." When I first learned of dark romance I thought it meant toxic and unhealthy relationships but so many dark romance books seem to mean nonconsent. The MMC in this book is atrocious. It's hard to read a "romance" book with a main character you hate and a love story you cannot root for. It's not even dubious consent; the FMC continually says "no" "stop" and "don't do that again" and the MMC laughs and doesn't care. This is abuse. There is nothing sexy about this. The praise in the bedroom falls flat because he coerces her with pain to agree to what he said. It's just ridiculous. I had to DNF because reading about a woman being degraded doesn't do it for me.
The plot is about the MMC being framed for murder and spending 7 years in prison. Well. It is hard to care about him being framed when he is killing *other* people left and right. He SHOULD be in prison.
Finally, this is tagged fantasy. It's not fantasy. It's at most magical realism. It's in a normal world with fantastical gems, mafia, and sexually abusing MMC.

Thank you to Kensington Publishing for sharing this ALC with me.
To start, I enjoyed the audiobook the narrators did a good job.
Well… this was not what I expected when I heard "dark fantasy." To start, I wouldn’t really describe this as fantasy—it’s a dark romance with very minor, mostly unexplained fantasy elements. If anything, those elements felt more futuristic, with the world centered around social media platforms and crystals.
At its core, this is a mafia dark romance. And I think there’s a big difference between a morally gray character who might kill for his love and one who’s just a controlling, possessive jerk—and unfortunately, Alexi felt firmly like the latter. There are major consent issues throughout the story. In every interaction, he strips the FMC of any real choice; it’s always his way, his control, in all situations. It didn’t feel like love or affection—it felt like manipulation. It’s one thing to be rough in the bedroom, but when that behavior never turns off? It crosses a line from dark romance into straight-up abuse.
I did enjoy the Snow White elements with the tenants, and the FMC herself was a strong character—but she kept getting steamrolled by the MMC at every turn, which was frustrating.
The murder mystery subplot was interesting and honestly the only thing that kept me pushing through the painful romance.
Overall, this one wasn’t for me. It might work for you—especially if you like mafia romances—but probably not if you prefer your love interests to actually respect women.

Thank you NetGalley for this opportunity.
This is a solid 5 star read! Keep in mind going in and these are new characters (Alana's friends). I was OBSESSED with Rosalie and Alexei's love story!! I can't really think of a mafia book I have read before but Rebecca made it work!!! I love retellings, so I'm very curious to see who she does next!! 1000/10 would recommend to everybody!

I went blindly into this story and what a ride it was. The narration is dual and the pov too. I loved that they did the Russian accent. It made it even more real and enhanced the experience. The narration was great, they made the story came to live.
The story follows Rosalie, an attorney who gets a case were she has to help a Russian mob boss with his case. You can feel the danger trough the writing, this is not a man you can play with. As the story continues we meet the wonderfull roommates. What a fantastic side carakters. I also liked the power of crystals. Never read anything like it.
The story is fast pasted, cannot put it down. It feels like your in a good crime movie. I would recommend this book if you like a dark romance with a bit of urban fantasy sprinkles.

I liked the narrators for this book. The centerpiece of the book was the romantic aspect; but for me it lacked. Their relationship felt forced and the chemistry didn’t feel real. Almost too sudden? Not a bad one, but not my favorite

Absolutely loving this dark romance series by RZ. I love Alexei and Rosalie’s story so much!!
I listened to this one as well as read it and let me say that I adored Lance Greenfield’s Russian accent as Alexei and Erin Mallon was the perfect Rosalie! They both slayed those characters and brought them to life!
I’m having a hard time choosing my fave from the two so far. Alexei is a such a complex character, and even though he is alpha and controlling to the max, there is just something so sexy about him. Rosalie feels that from the moment she meets him. She may not want to want him, but she does. As his lawyer this can definitely be a complication. The chemistry and attraction proves undeniable. I snort laughed at Rosalie’s inner dialogue with her lady parts when she tried to not want Alexei! So funny!
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end! This new world that RZ has created where crystals are power, is so imaginative and cool.
This book takes you on a wild, dark, and sexy ride so strap your helmet on and hang on!
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Taking a moment to fully bask in the fact that this story is set in my hometown—San Jose, CA! Bay Area love! 🥹✨ I didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, obsessed!
Alexei is the ultimate toxic, possessive mafia boyfriend—the kind you want to hate, but somehow end up breathless and obsessed right alongside him. He’s utterly obsessed with Rosalie, our strong-willed, sassy, badass lawyer who’s assigned to his case and gets him released from jail… only to find out she’s accidentally agreed to a lot more than she realized. Like… forever.
And the subtle Snow White nods? Absolutely adorable. Rosalie’s seven elderly boarders are the sweetest men, and their makeshift family dynamic added so much heart to the story. It was a wild mix of dark romance, legal drama, mafia crime action, sexy and fairy-tale whimsy—and it totally worked.
