Although there are many concepts in this book I am familiar with - I am a coach and I read a lot - these points are made in a useful way and the reflection points are interesting. I also really liked the focus on play, which did bring something new. It was interesting to think about this and realise that I am more playful than I thought. It would also have gone well with opposite leisure activities that can help prevent burn out (if you sit a lot chose something no sitting). Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

The Power in the Middle is a guidebook for middle life.
The mid age is an overlooked period of human life and O’Brien’s book fills this gap with sound advice, relevant anecdotes, helpful methods and engaging prose.
As an avid reader, it matters to me that the information is fresh; that the book has a unique angle.
This was the case with the Power in the Middle.
Close to 5 stars.

I saw this book and really wanted to learn more about this phase of my life as I head towards my 50s. I found the book well written and I enjoyed the layout of each chapter.

I particularly liked the exercises as I felt that they gave me a chance to reflect on different things and see what I needed to do differently.

I would definitely recommend this book to any woman over 30 and think it is a must read.

Thanks to NetGalley, Elizabeth O’Brien and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
