Thank you to NetGalley for the audio ARC. The narrator is really good, using a variety of voices to distinguish between characters.

Mrs. Loretta Plansky has retired to Florida after the death of her husband. Her nonagenerian father has moved in with her after being kicked out of an assisted living community. He has memory issues, which drives Loretta nuts.

The plot follows Loretta's attempts to find out what happened to her tennis partner, Kev, as well as her son Jack. Loretta has several misadventures during the search, which keep the plot moving forward.

Mrs. Plansky is a good Cozy Mystery. It's nice to see an older woman using her deductive skills to solve a mystery.

DNF-I am a sucker for elderly main characters. They are fun, quirky, and just don't give a care about much that most of us do. However, I could not get into this book. I got to 67% and decided, I don't have time for boring stories. The narrator was dull and drab. The over-explanating about everything was off-putting. Sorry, this is not the one to read.

Author Spencer Quinn brings us a second entry in his Mrs. Plansky series. In this cozy mystery, after winning a mixed doubles tennis tournament at her club, Mrs. Planksy gets involved in a scheme involving her tennis partner, her son, and various nefarious characters. Quinn takes us on quite a wild ride that takes Mrs. Plansky from her home in Florida to Arizona and many different small islands around Bermuda.

The overall writing is well done and the action is well-paced. The characters are well-developed and very interesting.

And since I listened to the audiobook, I also want to mention the narrator, Petrea Burchard. She does a great job with bringing the characters to life and making sure we feel the tension that Mrs. Plansky is living.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "Mrs Plansky Goes Rogue" and all opinions expressed are my own. I listened to the audiobook. I also listened to the first book previously. I think I liked the first book a bit more but this one was also good. Mrs Plansky and her crazy adventures, a fun book to listen to.

This book was a fun ride. Mrs. Plansky is a 72 year old widow, who just won the doubles tennis championship in her club. When she drives her doubles partner Kev home after the game, his yacht goes on fire. Kev says is was lightning that started the fire, Mrs Plansky is not so sure. This is the start of a crazy series of events that Mrs. Plansky gets herself involved with.

Thank-you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced listener copy. Petrea Burchard does a wonderful job narrating.

Mrs. Plansky Goes Rogue should be added to you summer reading list. It's a fun mystery. I look forward to book 3 in this series.

I really fell in love with Mrs. Plansky in the first book in this series, and while she remains a true original, this installment did not give me the same kind of magic that I received from its predecessor.

A highlight of these books beyond Mrs. Plansky's great characterization is - similarly - what happens with the ancillary individuals. Mrs. Plansky's dad is always a kick, and he really reminds readers of that in this one. Mrs. Plansky's kids are also up to their usual tricks. This woman is truly having one of the wildest senior experiences I've heard of, and it's my great hope that she and Vera Wong get a crossover book at some point: the pinnacle of senior cozies.

The storyline and setting of the first book are unmatched, but this is still a fun read. I can't wait to see what Mrs. Plansky and her dad get up to next!

Reviewing the audio version of this, narrated by Petrea Burchard. I've listened to some of her work before and I love her reading style.

The story follows Loretta Plansky, a 72 (almost) year old tennis player who is dropping her partner after a tournament when his boat explodes. Everyone thinks it was lightning, but Loretta isn't so sure. Then other things start to seem...off. Her partner vanishes, her son has been out of reach for too long, and Mrs. Plansky just can't shake the feeling that something bigger is going on.

This story was decent for a mystery novel. It moved at a decent pace with twists and turns and it even had treasure. I loved that aspect of it all.

It took me a lot longer than I would have liked to develop a connection to the characters. The constant tangents she was going off on in the middle of divulging crucial plot points was off-putting for me at times. I don't know if I didn't really like that, or she just reminded me of myself too much lol.

Decent read though. Kind of fun, kind of silly.

I enjoyed the first book, and was happy to get my hands on an ARC of book 2. It was just as much fun as the first one, though I was surprised by how much of the cast from the previous book wasn't in this one. The dad continues to be an unlikable pain in the ass, but considering how many books like this have the father being somebody the female lead needs to lean on in order for her to save the world, having him be part of the problem was a much appreciated switch.

Quinn has created the most likable elderly detective since Miss Marple in this charming cozy about Mrs Plansky, a woman who won’t stop until she uncovers the truth
