HIGH HEAT (HARD HITTER'S #1) is a quick paced read with baseball's minor league team, The Thrashers, owned by the Dudley family at its core. Meet the family, the team and some of the coaches as we learn what makes former superstar, Tom Cord, tick!

Morris' HIGH HEAT had a lot of twists and turns to the storyline. Baseball star, Tom Cord, is sent to the minors after rehabbing from surgery for a couple of years after being injured during the World Series. The team he's sent to is owned by his college teammate's family and his appearance there will hopefully boost their bottom line. Paul, is the president of the Thrashers baseball organization founded by their grandfather and his sister, Sarah, is given a role in Public Relations grudgingly by her dad since he doesn't believe women should have any type of role in baseball. Although her dream is to someday do more to enhance her family's legacy she's thwarted at every turn. Tom is often a PR nightmare which doesn't make her job any easier most days. I cheered when Sarah finally was able to stand up for herself!

Sarah and Tom have chemistry that they both try to fight and her father and Paul definitely want her to ignore it since they feel he's a womanizer and only dates high profile women with low morals and it's not what they want for her. Every time they're together the sparks do fly no matter how much they tried to fight it! Paul's girlfriend, Susan, is very clingy and it's surprising that he puts up with her ways. There are reminisces, childhood memories, lost dreams and dreams that come true, heartache, sadness, secrets, tears, happiness, lots and lots of baseball as well as talks and discussions, romance and love. There is nice closure with a happily ever after that I didn't see coming but gave me the warm fuzzies.

Morris is a new to me author and I look forward to reading her other books. I always enjoy books that have sports at its core, baseball and hockey being two of my favorite. I can't wait for SCREWBALL, the second book in the series that is due out in September.

I requested this one back in the day as I had every intention of reading it. However, its been years and I still haven't gotten around to it and while I feel guilty at not reviewing a book I think that I need to admit to myself that I won't be reading this one anytime soon....if at all.

The author of Melting the Millionaires Heart gives readers a front-row seat to her new Hard Hitters baseball series. First up at bat: a hotshot pitcher and a PR pro battle it out on and off the field

Sarah- why did you wait for your father to fire you when you should have quit when your own family doesn't know your worth? Tom- you're willing to throw your entire career away instead of listening to experienced people on how you can improve your game without further injuries. Clearly this couple together was quite the pair. Didn't really feel the connection but happy the couple got some sense into them by the end.
