This is not the best romance book I’ve read. There’s not a lot of romance actually. There’s representation of disabilities and depression but this is not a stem romance. I’m not even sure what they are studying? Biomed? Biomed students are not even entirely stem students… there was almost no reference to science except that they were in a Genetics class. So I don’t think it’s marketed well.
I was struggling the entire book understanding geospatial and temporal dynamics, the writing made it very difficult to be consistently aware of the position of the MCs. There’s a secret identity trope that led to a miscommunication trope and honestly I hate the miscommunication trope so this was not for me.

I must say, I’m not a huge romance fan however I absolutely loved this book!
Being disabled myself, I instantly warmed to Penny. I’ve never read a book where the main character is disabled and I loved how Penny’s disability wasn’t the main focus, she is so much more than that.
CJ is just wonderful, the way he treats Penny melts my heart.
I found this book to be a true representation of both grief and life and also navigating this and love with a disability.
A heartwarming story about finding your person and reminding us that despite life’s ups and downs, the people we choose to surround ourselves with are those who make life worthwhile.

The Chemistry Test was super cute, and overall I really enjoyed it. I loved the disability rep here, and the chemistry between Penny and CJ was perfect, but miscommunication kept this from being a 5 star read for me.

I loved this book! As someone who deals with disabilities on a day to day basis it was so refreshing to read a book from a young women’s perspective that shows just how much we are like everyone else in wanting to live a good and full life disability or not!

Thank you to Amazon Publishing UK and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Content warnings for grief, some miscommunication, and severe depression moments. I will admit, I went into this book blind and was not sure how the disability representation would be. Now, since I am not familiar with the British college system, I do not know how well that was represented and in turn how their Disability office was represented, but I appreciated both the positives and negatives involved. In addition, the fame aspect was surprising but also not necessarily needed. I did, though, enjoy my time with this story and would recommend it to anyone wanting a disability college romance. 4 out of 5 stars.

i cant believe i have to say this as it shouldn't be "a thing" and yet here i am so i will say it. but lovely to see someone with a disability in this book! and handled so well. she was a woman. just that. but also it IS important not to ignore the other parts. the parts that STILL make people with disabilities not get the same outlooks, chances, love(parts in books).
but again still ultimately this was a love story and a brilliant one at that
Georgina and her writing style was just spot on for me. i love when i find an author where there writing and style connects to me and for me. its fees like you are almost floating through the pages.
the characters were gorgeous to get to know and their story was unique in all the best ways. it was filled with humour, wit, warmth and an emotional one to get involved in.
i like the dual POV works for this book. Penny is in her first year at university and wants to prove to everyone that she CAN and WILL do this as well as anyone else. CJ comes with how own need to succeed after a last year that was filled with more than enough struggles, thanks.
the two are sparky and bright and their is that connection we all love to read about. they are also there for each other in such a lovely way.
i thought the side characters are the kind we love to have in books and actually would love to have on our own side in real life too!
i swept through this book and didn't want to leave them. a great coming of age story full of self growth, discovering, charm and bravery.
this feels like a really important book but without seeming to if that makes sense. it is just by being itself.

This was a good book I would say, with likable characters and an okay plot. The writing style was simple, personally I found it to be well written. At times the pacing of the book and plot felt a bit off as the conflict felt too late and should have happened a bit closer to the middle of the book. Due to the late conflict I felt that the ending seemed a bit rushed and lacking. If the conflict happened closer to the middle it would have offered more time to resolve it and for further character development.

A big part of this book was the representation of multiple topics, such as chronic illness, grief, depression, and disability. I enjoyed the characters and their personalities for the most part.

Some parts felt flat at times and there was a lot of miscommunication, which is just a big turn off for me and pulls me away from the book and leads it to losing points for me.

Overall, this was a good book, which shows very important topics to discuss and explore. We need more books that present diversity in the main characters, I am still happy I picked this up.

When I saw this title was a available, I jumped right in. I really like reading books with diversity representation, so the cover got my attention quickly. When I discovered that the MMC is dyslexic it was an added bonus to my diversity box.

Penny is just an 18 year-old who wants to gain her independence back. She is starting university and just wants to be another girl in college.

Cam is so depressed because of his grief, and Penny is a light in his day. They are so well suited for each other it hurts. I really do like a good slowburn, so this book made me really happy.

I felt really connected to Penny and how she learns. Although I do need to write down things to revise, I have always learned things quite literally.

It took them too many misunderstandings, but they finally found their way to each other. I blushed so hard with Cam's declaration of love at the end...

Lovely book, 100% recommended.
Happy reading! 😊😊

What an incredibly beautiful story about finding your person and finding yourself.

I loved CJ’s sweetness, Penny’s ambition, their beautiful friendship, and layered love story.

The Chemistry Test is utterly addictive and unputdownable. It’s one of my favorite romances of the year. Can’t wait for more books by Georgina Frankie.

A truly open and honest take on both grief and life and love with disability.
Penny, CJ and all their friends remind us that even with all of life's ups and downs, its the people we have beside us that make it all worthwhile.
A dual POV story that truly fleshes out both characters as individuals and together. Truly a delight to read.

This book is exactly what I needed when I first became chronically ill, disabled, and started to use a wheelchair. Which similarly to Penny was while at university! The author’s ability to portray the nuances of disabled life, navigating university as a wheelchair user, and so many moments due to their own lived experiences meant I have never related to a protagonist more.

I engulfed this book in two sittings as the nature and development of their relationship was endearing and I was forever rooting for them. Without giving spoilers, there’s some well crafted moments that will have you wanting to shake Penny for being her own barrier!!

This was an enjoyable read, with exceptional representation, the author’s crafting of the relationship development was perfect. Such a refreshing read!

This got me out of a two month reading slump - I'm not a big romance reader but I LOVED this

The main thing about this book I loved was all of the representation. Being disabled myself I've never actually read a book with a disabled main character and I've never read a book where the only purpose of the character wasn't just being the disabled one. Penny is disabled but there's so much more to her than that, her disability isn't her main point and I love that. CJ has my heart, he's my type on paper, the way he treats Penny won me over. His dyslexia representation was nice. Another thing about this book that stood out to me was CJ's grief - like many of us at this age I too have lost a family member I was very close to and it happened at a really difficult time in my life, CJ's experience was raw and realistic, the grief perspective was perfectly and beautifully written. I found a lot of parts of this book relatable. As I said I was in a book slump for coming up to two months but this book I could not put down, safe to say my reading slump is now cured. I only wish this was a series as I am not ready to say goodbye to Penny, CJ and all their friends. I've read a couple of romance books - I'm quite new to them - but this one really stands out not only for the representation but for being the most believable. I've read some far fetched books but this one was easy to follow as it's something that could actually happen which I suppose helped me get sucked into it so much. I liked how the chapters went back and forth between Penny and CJ and the ending had me emotional. Well done Georgina for writing such a fantastic book! I can't recommend this enough

The Chemistry Test is a heartfelt and fun story that will make you want to keep turning the page. The characters are so relatable and provide much needed representation of things many of us go through from disability to grief to new love to finding our passions in life. I found myself rooting for both Penny and Cam to find happiness, as well as the minor characters. This book has both lighthearted and uplifting moments that will definitely make you smile, and profound beautiful insights into the human experience that will make you pause to fully take them in. If you are looking for a book that makes you feel seen and heard, with excellent disability representation and stunningly written passages to quote then this is the book for you. I cannot wait to read more by this author and see what she does next!

The Chemistry test is such a wholesome love story. CJ and Penny are extremely loveable. It was humorous, impactful, and emotional!

The story is dual POV and follows Penny as she navigates her first year at university with her chronic illnesses, proving to herself and others that she is capable and extremely smart. And CJ, as he deals with retaking his freshman year after facing a difficult loss the year prior.
Penny and CJ are there for each other in more ways than either of them realize.
The side characters were just as important as the main characters. Penny really lucked out with some great roommates.

Thank you Georgina for this beautiful love story.
