I loved this just as much as the first book and I cannot wait until the next one! The spice is immaculate. The narrators were perfection, I LOVE a dual POV in a romance book. The YEARNING, the TENSION!! Amazing. The banter was also elite. Elliot Fletcher is now an auto-buy author for me and I'll definitely pre-order the next audiobook in this series!

Don’t get me wrong I like the plot fine but it was nothing new. The voice actors are the ones who made this and immerse you in the story and it’s not just because of the accents. They have great balance and pacing. Every pause is intentional, every word in its place. Well done!

I absolutely LOVED this audio!! I listened to the Whisky Business audiobook last year and it immediately became a favorite so its no surprise that I enjoyed this one. The narrators did such an incredible job capturing these characters. As I was listening I found I really got a sense of our main characters characteristics. They also did such an amazing job with the tension and yearning between Callum and Juniper. I will 100% be relistening to this audiobook!

After the first book in this series, I was excited for the sequel. This one was great, but I didn’t like it as much as the first. Juniper had a lot of potential for character development with her relationship with her mom and dad as well as her work at the inn but I felt like that was abandoned in the second half of the book. The spice was great and I loved their romance. I can’t wait to read the third book!

I was really excited for this second book in the Macabe Brothers series set in Scotland but sadly it just didn't hit for me the way I was hoping. I'm not sure what exactly it was that didn't work for me but the second chance, brother's ex-fiancee Scottish romance was just okay for me. I didn't love the narrators (although the accents were fire) but whatever it was this was just an okay read for me. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book in The Macabe Brothers series. The remote Scottish island setting was great, the banter was fun, and there was plenty of spice! But I just didn't quite vibe with this one. I loved the mmc but couldn't connect with the fmc. Still a fun listen though, loved the narrators' Scottish accents!

ex’s older brother??? SAY. LESS.
the audiobook? perfection. I could listen to their accents all day and night and never get tired. The banter, the personality they added to the characters, the narrators did a stunning job.
the book itself was so entertaining and everything I love with the enemies to lovers vibe, a little taboo, he’s obsessed with her, and she’s a black cat. Just so so good.

I received an ALC for review.
In terms of the audiobook quality, both narrators were clear and easy to understand. As this is set in Scotland, they had appropriate accents for the book.
As for the book itself, it’s a forbidden romance in a small town and is the second in a series of the McCabe brothers. This was my first of the series as they are interconnected standalones and I did not find I needed to have read the first book. Juniper was previously engaged to Callum’s brother and he’s been into her since before he found out she was dating his brother. She’s quirky and on the gothic side and he’s a vet. She’s had someone what of a traumatic past and he’s dealing with aging parents with a chronic illness that’s getting worse. The books includes some deeper elements in this sense and is an overall quick read.

If you are looking for a quick mental escape to Scotland with a sweet and funny romance, this is just what you need.
You have Juniper and Callum at the start have an instant connection at the train station, where it just so happens they are en route to meet each other again. Except it leaves them unable to go any further than just friends. Once they finally come together, the yearning! (specifically from Callum) It was just too good.
Russ Bain and Rebecca McClain?! Bravo!
Thank you to HarperAudio for the opportunity to listen to this ARC!

I loved this book so much!!! The narrators were fantastic! The story flowed seamlessly and I didn’t want it to end!
Elliot Fletcher is a new author to me but I will definitely read others!
Thank you Harper Audio via NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book!

This is a whitty and fun off limits romance. The element of the ex fiancee's brother didn't always work for me and at times it was brought up in moments where a normal person would never bring it up, especially when this was not written as a taboo romance.
The quality of the audio book was very good and the narrators voices and accents are enjoyable to listen to.

What I liked
-the nickname Harpy
-how straight forward and flirty Callum was
-Junipers sass
-Fast and furious start
What I didn't like:
-Juniper mentioning her ex multiple times
- the narrator was Juniper was too sweet. She need more edge or sass. There also wasn't a lot of distinction between characters in her voice
- not the best resolution. Bit if a HFN

Thank you so much to NetGalley and HarperAudio Adult for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!
4 stars – 3 chili peppers
This is the second in a series of interconnected standalones featuring the Macabe family. This was a really cute read! I wasn’t so sure at first, the first scene is not really my speed, but as soon as they skipped ahead a few years the story really picked up. Callium has been in love with Juniper from the second he met her, about an hour before he found out that she was his little brother’s girlfriend. After Juniper and his brother break up, Callium decides that it is his chance to win Juniper for himself.
Why I liked it!
-ex fiancés + best friends brother
-small town romance
-SCOTLAND!
-black cat fmc x golden retriever mmc
-unrequited love
-yearning and pining
-dual narration with Scottish accents!
This audiobook was great. Both narrators were extremely entertaining and easy to listen to. Sometimes with the Scottish accent I find that I have to focus extremely hard to understand them and that can take me out of the story, but for this one they were very well enunciated. I would definitely listen to another audiobook that they were a part of in the future.
While at its core this book is a feel-good, contemporary romance, there is some emotional depth to it as well. It deals with feelings of inadequacy, making yourself less so that you are not a burden to others, and parental abandonment. It also touches on dealing with the emotional stress of having a sick parent. There is no cheating and it ends in a HEA which is a must for me when it comes to romance. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book for anyone in need of a small town Scottish romance.

Gonna start with the tropes this time: Scotland romance, she’s a hotel manager, he’s a hot vet/repair man, he falls first, he falls hard, she has a cat, black cat/golden reteiver energy, love at first sight, brother's X-fiance, slow burn, age gap, he wears a KILT!!
This story was adorable, with a handy, handsome kilt-wearing man, what more could you want to swoon over?
CALLUM WAS SO PATHETIC. He is totally down bad for Juniper. I love her.

We got a glimpse of the tension between Callum and Juniper in Whisky Business and Scotch on the Rocks 100% delivers on their story. The banter between them is absolutely full of palpable sexual tension. If you like a golden retriever MMC who is down BAD for his girl, you’ll love this but Juniper is giving black cat energy and she doesn’t make it easy (this stalls the plot a bit). Throw in the fact that she’s his younger brother’s ex-fiancée - the drama is there (minus the miscommunication which always earns bonus points for me). I cannot wait for Alastair’s book (also hoping to see Heather get her HEA too.)
The audiobook performance was fantastic, I always love hearing the Scottish accents. This is one I needed to speed up a bit and I do wish the narrators differentiated a bit more between the character voices (which are obviously personal preferences and didn’t affect the overall performance).
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Audio for this advance listening copy in exchange of an honest review.

Scotch on the Rocks didn’t quite work for me. It leans on the love at first sight trope, which I don’t love in contemporary romance. Especially when the MMC is instantly smitten… while the FMC is dating his brother. Years later, when the story picks back up, there’s room for a compelling second-chance romance, but I never fully connected with either main character.
Honestly, the first few interactions between the FMC and MMC gave me the ick. There was something off in the dynamic that made it hard to root for them.
What I did enjoy: the Scottish setting, the side characters, and especially the audiobook narration( I loved the Scottish accents)

“still hate me, sweetheart?”
“undoubtedly.”
“good. just making sure.”🤭🫠
this series is so FUN! i absolutely could. not. put this book down!!
the tension between Cal & Juniper? the PINING?! the forced proximity because he can’t not help her when the renovations she wants to have done on her bed and breakfast turn into a disaster? the way he lives for the interactions between them?*sigh*🫠
Callum may make the top 3 most down bad book boyfriends to ever book boyfriend.
and having his VOICE and his ACCENT in my ears via audio was a top tier life experience😭 the narrators really brought these characters to life and made this story even better somehow!!! i didn’t know that was possible, but they did it.
read if you like:
+ he’s her ex-fiancés brother🙂↕️
+ a prickly fmc
+ a man literally so down bad he would get her teeth marks tattooed on his body
+ “sweetheart”
+ banter on banter
+ soulmates😭
+ small Scottish towns
+ he’s obsessed with her from the moment they meet
thank you thank you to Harper Audio for this gifted alc! it came at the exact time i needed it!! reading slump WHO bc this book is a guaranteed slump buster!

Scotch on the Rocks was a fun, feel-good romance with a beautiful Scottish setting and great emotional depth. I loved how the characters felt real and layered. The audiobook narration made it even more engaging. Sweet, heartfelt, and perfect for a cozy escape!

Is there anything more delightful than a Scottish tryst?
This book did a marvelous job approaching difficult topics like attachment, childhood trauma, neurological degeneration, and family responsibility as roles change. It also had a vast cast of unique characters.
I didn’t love the turmoil of having familial ties in a sort of love triangle. Overall this story was very deliberate in showing there wasn’t a chance Callum and Juniper wouldn’t end up together, but I just really am not a fan of the familial tie being a barrier to being together. At one point we see Juniper acknowledge it with a thought about having to see both brothers at every holiday, which was affirming because truthfully that’s all I think about when I read romances that utilize this trope!
Overall, this story was very steamy and passionate, adventurous and loving, and a unique story! I liked the lil renovation plot and I adore a Jack-of-all-trades MMC.
The performance of this audiobook was impeccable!! Nothing is more appealing than a story articulated in a beautiful Scottish brogue about a lovely Scottish pair.

3.5⭐️ I do love a devoted, jealous MMC. Definitely had a good time with it. Russ Bain and Rebecca McClay were fantastic. Loved the Scottish accents and how they brought both Callum and Juniper to life. 4.5⭐️ on their narration.
Callum is head over heels for a girl at first sight. Too bad she rejected him immediately. Oh, and she’s his brother fiancé.
It’s been a bit and Juniper is single. She has rules now. Don’t look at a Macabe brother, don’t talk about a Macabe brother, and don’t think about a Macabe brother. Too bad Callum seems to be everywhere. But he is off limits. She’s his brother’s ex after all. There’s plenty to distract her, but when she needs help; Callum is always there. It’s getting harder and harder to not feel some sort of way toward him. Is he worth breaking her rules for?
Coming July 8th. Thank you @netgalley, @harperaudio, @avonbooks and the author for the opportunity to have an advance listener and reader copy.
