A light dark romance that has moments of comical banter, a revenge plot and steamy tension. Overall a quick read, not necessarily a memorable one.

Came for the hype. Stayed for the Banter! This was super cute! Honestly the side characters were my favorite! Evie!! I hope her and the boys get their own book 😉😉 (I see what you’re doing Kate). The story was great and engaging, the spice was spicy and just enough for the story. It wasn’t forced. I highly recommend. Especially for fans of Lights Out!
Thanks Harper Audio and NetGalley for the ALC!! I really enjoyed it!!

I’m usually not a big dark romance girl—I love a bad boy MMC as much as the next person, but I tend to tap out when we start getting into stalker or murderer territory. However… Rook might just be my exception.
Don’t get me wrong—his actions in this book are definitely not what I’d call “healthy coping mechanisms,” but Kate Crew somehow made me get him. Like, really get him. And against all odds, I found myself rooting for him. He’s objectively not a good guy, but he was so fully obsessed with the FMC—in a way that still respected her choices and autonomy—that it kind of… worked? That “you’re mine” energy was strong, and somehow didn’t feel gross. Just intense. And hot. Really hot.
It’s a tough line to walk, but Kate Crew nailed it in a way that totally surprised me—in the best way. Now I’m genuinely curious (and maybe a little nervous?) to see where the story goes next.
Highly recommend if you want something dark, a little unhinged, and wildly addictive.

I really wanted to enjoy this book so bad. I love the cover. I love Sean Masters as the voice of Rook but half way through I was just turned off with how easy Rook fell for Rebel without knowing her personally but knowing she is the daughter of his worst enemy!!!

Good book overall. Didn't have as much humor as I expected and hated that it wasn't a duet. Overall though a good book I wouldn't mind reading again.

Gotta love a good dark romance with a morally gray man! Rook even had a small primal kink that was explored a little bit. Rebel started out being weak but grew into her own strong person. That was nice to see! "Rook & Rebel" was a nice light dark romance. It would be excellent for a beginner.
The male narrator was so good...and the female was for the female parts. I didn't really like the female doing the male parts.
Thank you, Harper Audio and Netgalley for the ALC for this book!

Rook & Rebel by Kate Crew is a spicy dark romance with a forbidden twist. Regan is set to take over her father's security business; however, she's been kept out of the day-to-day dealings of the company. When she almost gets mugged by a sexy biker, Regan decides to take a ride outside her comfort zone. I recommend this to dark romance readers... after checking the trigger warnings!

Nieve girl with daddy issues meets biker who also has issues with her father.
It at least was more of a biker romance then Caught Up was...so there's that...
The narrators and spice were great though!
3.5 stars

Didn’t think I would enjoy a book with characters who stalk each other and a belong to a motorcycle club, but *shrugs* I guess that’s what happened here. It was suspenseful and OMG SO SPIIIICY, which is how I managed to finish it in half a day. Quick read for sure.
And the narrators were great—love a dual POV
Spice was at least 4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
(Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.)

These narrators are top tier in this novel. Such a hot good book that had a plot but also smut. It was enjoyable for me.

New review incoming…
I’m usually not a huge fan of dark romance (I love a bad boy MMC as much as the next girl, but I draw the line at stalkers and murderers). HOWEVER… Rook might be my exception to the rule?
While his actions in this book definitely aren’t justified, the author did an incredible job of making me understand him—and, somehow, root for him. Despite being objectively not a good guy, Rook was fully down-bad for the FMC and treated her with respect and autonomy, all while still pulling off the “you’re mine” possessiveness that somehow worked.
It’s a tough balance to strike, but Kate Crew pulled it off in a way that surprised me—in the best way. I’m genuinely curious to see where she takes the story next, and honestly? Huge props to her for making me fall for a story I didn’t expect to like.
Highly recommend!
