My 7 year old son and I loved this book. He goes nuts for books like these and he loves learning about different fascinating animals. The book was well written and provided us with a ton of facts about Tasmanian devils. He loved the pictures too! We had a great time reading this book and will recommend it to all our friends!

My review has been posted to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Goodreads!

I received a copy of this eBook from netGalley for a honest review.

I found this book to be very informative about Tasmanian Devils. I now feel I know about these interesting animals and how the eat, live and survive.

“Tasmanian Devils” provides readers with a brief overview of the Tasmanian Devil including where they live, what they eat, and their status as an endangered species. The text is easy to understand. Sentences are short and vocabulary is simple. Images are clear and add to the understanding of Tasmanian devils.

“Tasmanian Devils” packs a lot of information into just 32 pages. It is sure to get young readers interested in learning more about the animal. Some of the pictures are a bit on the graphic side (several feature the devils feeding on carcasses), but that may appeal to many readers.

Apex indicates the reading and interest levels of their books. “Tasmanian Devils” is listed as grades 2-3 with an interest level for grades 3-7. The book contains a glossary (with bold in-text terms), an index, and comprehension questions.

This book is part of Apex’s Wild Animals series that features other interesting creatures such as honey badgers, red pandas, and black mambas.

“Tasmanian Devils” is a great book for kids who are interested in unusual animals.

I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley and Apex Editions, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A sampler of this batch of books adding to this series of interesting animals – but you have to ask if they're all interesting enough to deserve their own title. Here these aggressive-looking marsupials are shown off rather well, and we learn about their life cycle and habits, but by the time the first chapter is just an introductory setting-up narrative and about half the text is in box-outs and as captions and bonus factoids, there is little here. That is supposed to encourage this being picked up by those reluctant readers who find the idea of non-fiction quite alien, but it doesn't really help maximum learning, imho. For its bittiness, three and a half stars.

I learned so much about Tasmanian Devils from this short but informative book. There’s lots of gross details and even some photos that little kids especially little boys, will love! Tasmanian Devils can go to sleep inside carcasses then wake up and continue eating has to be one of the most surprising details included. As an adult I’d have liked to learn more about their nesting habits and babies but that’s me. This is a worthwhile book for any kid who loves learning about unique animals.

**Thanks to the author and North Star Editions for the e-arc I received via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.**

Awesome book! I learned so much about the Tasmanian Devil from this book, and I therefore have zero doubt that little ones will as well! The author explains many aspects of the animal's life in the perfect amount of detail, allowing the reader to easily absorb and understand all of the information. Additionally, the way that this book was organized visually was great! The "fast facts" didn't detract from the main paragraphs, but they stood out enough so that readers were drawn to them. Each image used also fit the writing effortlessly, and was a great visual addition to the written information. Lastly, I greatly appreciated that the author decided to write an educational kids' book on a more obscure animal. I love to see new books like this one out there!

This was so interesting for both me and my almost 6-year-old. Tasmanian Devils aren't something we hear a lot about in the US and it was so fun to find out fun facts about them. I didn't know most of it but I definitely didn't know they would rest inside of a dead carcass mid meal and wake up to resume.

This book is a great mix of photos, history, and facts about Tasmanian devils. It is broken up into visually appealing and easily digestible chunks, and will be loved by any fan of animals. It’s pretty gross imagery which many kids will love. As a plus, this book contains comprehension questions, a glossary, and information about where to find more information in the back. This is a great book to learn about using indexes, glossaries, and more for beginning readers, as it will allow them to apply them to a subject that they love and in a very limited space.
