Dinosaurs is an excellent gift for the intended age group, and also works well for those new to the topic who want to learn the basics in an engaging way. It’s also a fantastic coffee table book.

The book is filled with vibrant pictures that make it visually appealing. Even if you just want to browse through without reading, it’ll still keep you interested. The font size is appropriate for younger audiences, and the pop-ups with additional details and questions are a great touch. The color scheme throughout the book is well done too.

A standout feature is the Dinosaurs Timeline on pages 10 and 11, which makes this a fun and educational starting point for aspiring paleontologists. The quiz and activity sections at the end are a nice way to recap the information.

I highly recommend this as a gift for the summer break. It's a great way to spark curiosity while also leaving room for deeper exploration.

While I read the digital version, I wish I had a hard copy to better assess the physical aspects of the book. Regardless, it was a fun and informative read!

Normally when I pick up one of the books from this publisher it's to witness an example of a series; here the set is so diverse and varied in subject I have no intention of saying what the others are like on the evidence of just one title. This, then, in isolation, is a decent early dinosaur book, jumping through the three main periods, giving spreads to specific beasties here and there, and covering some decent trivia in the light sprinkling of text. The sprinkling does mean you're sometimes guessing at the intended reading order once or twice, but the visuals certainly have the ability to make up for that, with a good approach to CG-styled illustrations. I have no conviction that this will ever distinguish itself in the market of dinosaur books, but that's not to say it's bad – heck, it was originally a volume from out of England, and has been reprinted for this set.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great and informative book. Any kid who loves dinosaurs will love this book and will learn so much from it.

This book will be a good fit to purchase for a Dino loving kid. With the activity section included in the back, it makes sense for this as a single person read rather than a library or classroom book. The text features make the information stand out (did you know callouts, arrows pointing to dinosaur parts, etc), but some pages are hard to know where to look or what to focus on. A dinosaur lover will love this as an entry level book on dinosaurs, but there are better dinosaur books out there.

Thank you to North Star Editions and NetGalley for providing an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Dinosaurs by Louise Nelson is part of the Know It All series from the North Star Editions library. Full disclosure: I have a young person in my life who has been obsessed with dinosaurs for years and has known they want to be a paleontologist for almost as long. That means I’ve read a lot of dinosaur books—and this one easily stands out as one of the best.

The artwork is absolutely stunning and will appeal not only to the book’s target audience (reading level: grades 2–3; interest level: grades 3–5), but also to anyone with a love of dinosaurs. The information is presented in an engaging and accessible way without ever talking down to young readers. I especially appreciated how it encourages curiosity, introduces new vocabulary, and invites further exploration beyond the book itself.

I also really enjoyed the recurring “Did you know?” sections—they’re packed with fun, fascinating facts that will capture young readers' imaginations.

If I had to change one thing, it would be the inclusion of a few more obscure dinosaurs. There are so many cool and unusual species out there and one of them might be some young scientists new favorite dinosaur!

This book is a worthwhile addition to any young dinosaur lover’s library. I’ll be recommending it to other parents!

This was a great introduction to a favourite topic.

The images were detailed and the information was presented in easy to digest and interesting tidbits. I'm not the target audience per se, but I enjoyed reading it as an adult and I imagine I'd have loved it as a kid.

The extra activities at the end were a great touch for engagement.

A great children/s book with wonderful illustrations and narration. The book does a great job of explaining about the dinosaurs, their existence, and their eventual extinction. It is easy for children to understand, and the book even provides some fun games and quizzes at the end. If you have a child interested in dinosaurs, don't pass this one up.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me the opportunity to review this book. We are always looking for new books to read about dinosaurs. This book was full of information and great pictures which were nicely laid on crisp white pages. We learned some new facts as we made our way through this book. Highly recommend for any young dinosaur lovers!

Perfectly suited for its intended age group, but engaging enough for any Dino lover. The illustrations are incredible of course and I appreciated that the updates in the information were accompanied by previously held research-based assumptions. It’s important to show scientific growth in that way.
Being a homeschool parent, on my second read through I went over it with my kids. It held their interest very well. My second grader commented on how the font is the perfect size. He dislikes when these types of books have lots of tiny writing. I must agree that it is visually interesting without being overwhelming. It caters to a younger crowd perfectly.
My only complaint about it, is that of the 5 pictures where actual children were featured in the illustrations, there was a lack of diverse representation.

This was an incredibly interesting, well formatted, easily digestible, and exciting educational read on the subject of dinosaurs. I love that this encouraged readers to ask questions throughout, explored the changes that scientists have discovered/concluded, as well as debunking "myths" about dinosaurs throughout. It remained fresh and novel the entire read, and will certainly be an auto buy at my public library, as well as a popular future recommendation for my Dino lovers. A GREAT modern, updated title on the topic for any collection, with beautiful and appealing design work.

I loved this book about dinosaurs! I have been interested in dinosaurs as of lately and have enjoyed reading and learning more about them, so I was excited to win an ARC of this book. This book is catered to a younger audience but I still learned so many cool new facts about dinosaurs that I did not know before, such as just how long they lived on Earth for before a mass extinction event took place, and what features marked them as herbivores versus carnivores. This book was really easy to read and came with a lot of cool pictures of dinosaurs and all the different types of dinosaurs that existed. Some pictures even showed just how big dinosaurs were compared to humans, which was so fascinating to see. I really enjoyed how all of the information about dinosaurs was presented in this book and I am looking forward to checking out the rest of the books in this series as they all look as fascinating as this one about dinosaurs was.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
