I am honored to have been chosen as an ARC reader of this book. The storyline is nice with a lady wanting to belong to the society she’s placed herself she’s willing to do anything to maintain the lifestyle lol
It’s a fun read and I recommend it

Fantastic read!!!! Highly recommend!!! Not what I expected , but a smart thought out page turner!! Well done! I will look for other. books from this author!

Ok THIS is Claire Mackintosh's best book! Every page had me hooked and was full of brilliance, excellent characters, and great suspense.

I think this my new favorite DC Morgan book, I devoured this story. I like how this book really leaned into the rich suburban drama as if it was it's own character. At first, I was a little worried trying to keep all of the characters and their house names straight, but there were enough well placed call backs to help jog my memory without disrupting progress. My favorite POV to read from was Allie. Her perspective felt like a reality TV show. She was so misguided, desperate and cringey, it was the trainwreck you couldn't peel your eyes away from. I feel like her POV was the perfect pairing to the fancy neighborhood setting. Absolutely recommend!

I really enjoy Clare Mackintohs's DC Morgan novels. THis was was really good. Maybe not my favorite but I still really enjoyed it and was happy I got an advanced copy to read. i will have to buy a phsycal copy to join my series collection once it released

The Hills; one of the most prominent, sought after neighborhoods to live in. It has everything, luxury, privacy, wealth and safety.. until recently. DS Leo Brady has been assigned to investigate a series of break ins that leave him believing this isn’t random, these are targeted with someone looking for something.
Meanwhile, DC Ffion Morgan is looking into a murder of an estate agent at a lake. She understands the hatred for estate agents but the question is who wanted this one dead and why? As Leo’s and Ffion’s investigations merge into one, they’re left with some answers that someone might just kill to keep.
I love me a good Mackintosh book and this one truly was no different! It had plenty of twists, suspense and what almost feels like a race against the clock to figure it out. I did at times find it hard to keep all the characters straight between the burglaries and the murder investigation happening BUT i also read this a bit slower (two kid life). And while I appreciate the glossary of Wale terms and why she elected to include them in the novel, I was unable to keep with those. If I had been able to keep everything straight I think I would’ve truly enjoyed it a bit more! (She did include a glossary in the front for the definitions as well!! which was certainly appreciated) Those two things are the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star read for me so as a result 4 stars! And more than worth checking out when it releases in September!!

I enjoyed this much more than I anticipated! I have read other books from Clare Mackintosh (which I enjoyed), but when I was sent this I didn't realize it was part of a series following the same detective. However despite that I thought it was still great. It wasn't hard to follow even if you haven't read the previous books with DC Morgan, and I thought the story itself was great. I liked the different characters and the big reveal at the end wrapped up everything nicely as well. It was fast paced and well written, made me want to read the other books in this series!

If half your weekly screen time is spent on Zillow and you love crime novels, boy oh boy do I have the book for you!
Set in perfectly atmospheric North Wales, OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSES follows the hilarious and (delightfully) hot messed DC Ffion Morgan as she solves crimes in between listening to a viral cold case podcast. The action packed plot really picks up when it’s discovered that her investigation of a dead estate agent somehow overlaps with her boyfriend’s rich people burglary case.
OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSES filled the Will Trent sized hole in my heart. This series is a bit less gritty than Slaughter’s books but just as addictive. The little romantic B plot between Ffion and Leo makes me swoon and the humor is exactly my cup of tea. Also, you know I’m always in the mood for a perfectly imperfect dog.
Lastly, Ms Mackintosh has done it again! For a second time she made me think there was one little loose end left dangling that I don’t love and somehow it’s tied up flawlessly and was so freaking perfect I could melt.
You don’t absolutely have to read this series in order but I personally recommend it (especially since this installment doesn’t release for a few months!). If you start with THE LAST PARTY you’ll have the full experience and really get to know and love the characters and all their quirks.

Such a great book. I couldn't put it down. Stayed up all night trying to find out what happened. Thank you for letting me read in advance. Five stars!

I once trudged through a storm to meet Clare McKinnon at an out of the way bookstore when she was touring for the second book in the DC Ffion Morgan series. I then had to contend with what felt like an interminable delay for the North American release of the third instalment in the series, which is finally coming in September! All of these comments are meant to illustrate just how much I adore whatever Mackintosh writes. And readers, book 3 in the series does not disappoint. Mackintosh offers several seemingly unrelated crimes, the perspective of Ffion and DC Leo Brady and the added point of view of hapless Allie, Leo’s ex. It’s another tightly plotted mystery with engaging banter and a stellar North Wales setting. Thank you Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for the DRC. Highly recommended for my fellow lovers of British police procedurals.

I hate when this happens: when I love the idea of the book, but not the execution.
This definitely wasn't terrible by any means, but it had so much potential that it didn't live up to.
This story follows the same characters as the previous books in this series, as well as an upper-class neighborhood that's been having a string of violent burglaries and crime. Maybe even more crimes than everyone originally thought.
I wasn't obsessed with some of the newer characters in this book, some were annoying, but others were too on-the-nose with their almost cartoonish snobbery. I get their point, but it felt almost jarring in a way to me. I don't really know how to explain it. Don't get me wrong, at some moments, it definitely did work, but other times it annoyed me (maybe that was on purpose though, since it was meant to annoy the other characters in the book too).
The ending was twisty and dramatic, but oh my goodness, did this drag at times. The one thing I want from a thriller is for it not to be slow. If it's a thriller, it needs to thrill me. That is pretty much all I ask.
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! My Goodreads review is up and my TikTok (Zoe_Lipman) review will be up at the end of the month with my monthly reading wrap-up.

This book was super good! At times, it felt like there were too many characters. It was also pretty obvious that the two+ stories would intersect (or why would they all be included?), but it didn't necessarily take away from the enjoyment of the story. You were just waiting for that other shoe to drop.
Great atmospheric read!

I dove into this latest DC Morgan thriller expecting a solid crime read, but Mackintosh completely blindsided me with how cleverly she wove together multiple criminal cases, both current and cold. The story immediately draws you into The Hill, an exclusive Cheshire neighborhood where break-ins are escalating, while across the border in Wales, DC Ffion Morgan is investigating the suspicious death of an estate agent found in a lake.
The plot's complexity never feels overwhelming, instead building layers of intrigue that kept me constantly second-guessing my theories about who was behind the crimes. The author demonstrates remarkable plotting prowess, managing to keep the true culprits hidden until the final reveal.
Character development remains one of Mackintosh's strongest suits, particularly with DC Ffion Morgan. In this installment, we see meaningful growth in Ffion's character, especially regarding her commitment to both her personal relationships and professional responsibilities. Her evolution feels authentic and adds emotional depth to the procedural elements.
The investigation methodology and the way the separate cases eventually collide feels both organic and satisfying. Mackintosh expertly builds tension while exploring themes of secrets, privilege, and the lengths people will go to protect their carefully constructed lives behind closed doors. By the final chapters, I was completely absorbed, racing to see how all the threads would come together.
A big thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for providing an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading Clare Mackintosh, and I was instantly pulled in. Other People’s Houses is part of a series, but it works perfectly as a standalone. The story is layered, suspenseful, and filled with twists that kept me guessing. I appreciated the emotional depth and how the characters felt real and flawed. Definitely a solid read if you enjoy domestic thrillers with a psychological edge!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an ARC of Other People’s Houses by Clare Macintosh. This book is the third installment in the DC Morgan series. I was not familiar with this series or the author. Despite not having read the previous two books, this book stands alone nicely.
The book follows three different stories, two murders, one being told through a podcast, and several burglaries in The Hill, an exclusive neighborhood Ffion and Leo return in this book with Ffion investigating the murder of a real estate agent and Leo investigating the burglaries. Overall, I enjoyed the book.
There were great characters. The main character, Ffion, is a great character, bold and very funny. I also liked Allie (Klingon), a relatable character. We all know an “Allie”. The story had plenty of suspense and twists thar kept me coming back for more.
The only thing that wasn’t for me was the Welsh references. The author gave us a translation guide at the front but I am not one to use it. While, Ms. Mackintosh is a gifted writer and the story was well-done, this particular element will not bring me back to her books again.

I adore this author. This book was fantastic. The characters are amazing and have real depth. The story line was jam packed with suspense and fast paced. Lots of twisty turny surprises throughout. This one was a stay up too late and read book! A must rwad

I love this series and can't wait to read more as these characters develop. The setting is part of the story and the mysteries are always satsfying to read. Well paced and enjoyable.

Thank you for the chance to review "Other People's Houses" by Clare Mackintosh.
The most recent installment in the DI Ffion series was the best yet. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Ffion is growing and becoming more in tune and open to those around her - even having "real" conversations with Leo and George. It certainly wasn't easy for her and there was drama, doubts and attempts at self-sabatoge along the way, but in the end Ffion was able to make choices that respected herself and those around her.
In this book we learn more about Leo's ex-wife, Allie, as she attempts to insert herself into a community of upper classes homes and owners; which just happens to be the same community of Leo's most recent investigation.
This series gets better and better, I can't wait to see how Ffion handles the latest development in her life....

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this ARC. Book 3 of the DC Morgan book series. DC Ffion Morgan is investigating a murder in town while DS Leo is investigating a break-in on The Hill. Both on the hunt until some clues make both cases seem related. I love this series and this group of people. #OtherPeoplesHouses #ClareMackintosh #SourceBooksLandmark #Sept2025

If you haven't read the first two books GO READ THEM.
I love Ffion and her personality and the setting and everything about this series. Macintosh is an absolute force in the world of thrillers and she truly hasn't written a bad book. PLEASE do yourself a favor and read these books.
