The Robin and the Oak Throne picks up five months after the events of The Wren in the Holly Library in the most iconic way possible. The book starts in Paris, more specifically at the beautiful palace of Versailles. The research K.A Linde has done is evident in these first few chapters with the references to Paris architecture and Parisian style. Having been to Paris myself, I really enjoyed these added tidbits by the author, Folklore is also used to create a world which has a lot of depth to it. It's something that stood out for me in the first book, and it stands out equally in the second.
The writing is excellent.
I love how descriptive K.A Linde is as it really helps bring the story to life. Linde also rehashes the previous events of the first book in the first few chapters, It's such a little thing but it meant the world to me. It's something that isn't done often enough in books if you ask me. And when you read as many books as I do, things can so easily get muddled.
The plot in the preview chapters was so fun. The Robin and the Oak Throne is fast-paced. The dialogue features some excellent banter which had me snort-laughing (an excellent sign so early into the book). I'm so interested to see how the main characters, Kierse and Graves further develop in this book. I will definitely be picking up this book upon release - I am so very keen to see what happens next.

I downloaded and devoured this as soon as I saw a preview was available! The Wren in the Holly Library was one of my top reads of last year, and this one offers up the same gorgeous writing, fast-pacing, high stakes, and a wonderfully fun yet dimensional cast of characters. I also really appreciated the recap of events from book 1, it made jumping into this one a year or so later so much more enjoyable for me. I can’t wait to read the completed book (and hopefully Fairyloot release an edition to match the first!).

The Robin on the Oak Throne, picks up 5 months later since the events of the last book, The Wren in the Holly Library. It starts with a bam by having Kierse in the middle of a heist mission. I liked that we meet Graves at the same party Kierse is at right away, rather than dragging his appearance out.

A huge plus is how the book did a good job at subtly reintroducing the main characters like their backstories, powers and their dynamic. It also seemlessingly gave a quick refresher of the main events in the previous book, which was so helpful, considering its been a while since I read the first book.

As for the pacing I thought it was rather fast paced and felt high stakes from the jump with the multiple heists. It felt like the book didn't slow down in terms of action. Everything was set up quickly with Kierse and Graves, working together to get a hold of one of the magical objects of the gods, the cauldron. The tension between Kierse and Graves, was riverting and intense. Kierse hasn't forgiven Graves for his betrayal, which helps create this push and pull dynamic between the two and sets the tone of mistrust but still being drawn to one another. The sexual tension was at an all time high as the preview ends.

I look forward to reading the rest of the book when it comes out!

Oh my goodness, how am I obsessed and it's only a preview. It felt like a piece of cake and now I'm left wanting the whole cake. I can't wait to read more of Graves and Kierse.

I read the first book a while ago and didn’t remember everything so I’m glad Linde seemlessly intertwined the recap of the first book into the story. The preview is fast paced and gripping and definitely a good tease. Interested to read the rest of the book!

The Wren in the Holly Library was one of my favourite books last year so I was so excited to dive into this eight chapter preview of the sequel.

So far, The Robin on the Oak Throne is amazing and I am completely hooked! I loved being back in this unique, high stakes world and it was wonderful to see Kierse and Graves again.

Kierse is back at her usual antics but beefed up thanks to her newfound self-awareness and so much more sass and slick comments that I am drooling to see how she acts with past and future characters. Graves is Graves, love to hate the man.
Linde did an amazing job picking up from the last book. The flow is the same, and she did an amazing job recapping the first book as part of the story itself, so it didn't feel like I was being directly told what had happened as if I wasn't there.

Wow. This was just the first 8 chapters and I am blown away, I am hooked. I can not wait to see what happens in the rest of the book. There was already so much going on. I love seeing Kierse and Graves again and the tension between them.

OMG, this 8-chapter preview of The Robin on the Oak Throne has me absolutely buzzing! It was so good!! The tension between Kierse and Graves is already simmering—total push-and-pull vibes, trust issues, motives in question —and did I mention the one bed situation?! I am so here for it. Counting down the days until release!

A really fun introduction to the story of Kierse, a mostly human thief, and Graves a powerful warlock who betrayed her in the past, but she can't help feeling drawn toward.

OMG! Grips you from the first page and does not let go! Fact paced action and perfect tension keeps you on your toes... I want to know more!

The preview was amazing! I can't wait to see what trouble Graves and Kierse gets up to this time! This series has kept me on my toes so far with the story line.

I was absolutely entranced by the FMC immediately. Kierse is such a confident and witty main character that is easily likable. I loved the banter between her and Graves as well as the cheeky dialogue between the two. The story was so easy to get into and I loved that it starts out in a relatively intense setting. The pacing was fantastic as well and I will definitely be putting this book on my TBR when the complete copy is published.

It's great to start right again with the action - we join Kierse in the middle of her theft at Versailles. The first book was so securely set in the world of a mystical New York City that it was great to see the world expand to Paris. For anyone worried that Graves would be left behind, he isn't missing for long. The two are back to their banter and their partnership, even if the trust between them is clearly broken.

I'm excited to read the rest of the book, and particularly to find out more about Kierse's life in Dublin.

This 8-chapter preview is a compelling teaser for the book, reintroducing the alternate universe of Kierse and Graves 5 months after the events of "The Wren in Holly Library". Kierse has been traveling in pursuit of answers, and her travels take her to Paris, where she reconnects with Graves amidst another thievery operation. The atmosphere is tense between the two, showing how much they long for each other. Will they accomplish stealing all the magical artifacts, and will they finally acknowledge their love for each other? I am in pins and needles waiting for the conclusion!

This preview was just absolutely wonderful. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down. I just lost myself within this amazing story and I immediately need the rest of it and I'm so sad that I have to wait until it releases.

I didn’t realize this was the second book in this series, but this was intriguing enough for me to want to go back and start the series.

Looks like it’s set in real places, but there’s all types of magical creatures. I’m not sure how the first books ends, but this one starts with Kierse at a party looking to retrieve something.

The thing that caught my attention most was Kierse’s relationship with Graves. I’m dying to know more about them together.
